philadelphia overnight. >> bullets fly in the city leaving one man dead and an innocent bystander wounded. >> accuweather is tracking a start to a chilly change and the colder weather will stretch into the weekend. >> let's go over to david and karen, good morning. >> reporter: we'll start out with satellite, you can see clear cloud cover to the west and it's on its way toward the east. we'll see clouds gathering and late today and this evening, there could light precipitation moving in. 41 degrees in philadelphia. we have dropped one degree in the last half-hour, 33 in allentown, below freezing in reading and lancaster. 42 in sea isle city, not a lot of wind out there, but enough to give you windchills this is dropping that feel of things 5 or degrees below temperatures. feels like 35 in philadelphia. some of you have might want to put on heavier coat this

morning. between 6:00 and 8:00 starting the car 41 degrees by 8:00. we'll bounce back a bit but not as mild as yesterday. 47 degrees by noon, 49 by 3:00. the high 51 at 2:00. 6:00 p.m. we'll be back down to 47 degrees. in the late day afternoon hours and this evening, there's a chance of light precipitation, some of us could see wet snowflakes of the season. i'll have more on future tracker looking at that in a couple of minutes. >> reporter: this morning we're dry, but we're not without problems be an accident in bucks county involving a truck blocking the left lane. you can see the flashing lights with police and emergency workers on the scene. this is route 1 southbound at 413. northbound police activity has cleared, southbound we have them out there at this point. in southwest philadelphia there's a house fire, florence avenue between 55th and 56th street. warrington avenue would help you

around that. him otherwise the speeds on the majors okay. outside on the ben franklin bridge, remember yesterday morning we were in the fog over here. we have clear conditions and light volume. looking good, that's westbound traffic heading into center city. hardly anyone out there at this hour and no problem. >> we begin with breaking news we -- a woman was found beaten to death with no clothes. katherine scott is on the scene, katherine? >> reporter: well, matt, it's early on in the investigation, police are on scene. the apartment is behind me not too far away. police are trying to figure out what happened. homicide detectives were called to the scene at 53rd and market in west philadelphia. police were called at 3:00 a.m., they were met by a 57-year-old woman, she said three men broke into the property. there was a struggle with the 6

#-year-old roommate. the roommate was found in the front bedroom and pronounced dead. what exactly happened remains under investigation. what the motive was remains under investigation. but, again, a 62-year-old woman was severely beaten. she had bruises on her body. the motive uncareer. it's all -- unclear, it's all under investigation. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> developing this morning a fast-moving fire in southwest philadelphia. damaged three homes and sent up to ten people running for their lives. crews arrived torched flames spitting through -- to find flames spitting through the roof on florence avenue at 2:00. burning electrical wires outside the homemade the fire fight more difficult. >> there's wires going across the rear. that's one of the problems, the wires were on fire, it came down, she had to avoid that

electrical hazard there. >> there are no reports of injuries. the red cross is finding temporary shelter for the five people who lived in the first home and may have to find shelter for the people living in the neighboring home. the third home was unoccupied. a man was shot dead in a hail of bullets in south philadelphia. the stray bullet from that attack hit a septa bus driver. he is fighting for his life this morning. nearly 30 shots were fired, the intended target a 35-year-old man was shot in the head and killed. a bullet hit an innocent bystander in the chest. the 56-year-old off-duty septa bus driver. >> he is an outstanding citizen, a pillar of the community, ever since i was a kid, he's always been a nice nice individual. >> homicide detectives are questioning people who saw the

shootings an combing surveillance video for a good image of the gunman. police are checking area hospitals for a wounded man involved in a police chase in north philadelphia. chopper 6 was over this scene at 26th and oxford. police were pursuing a car when someone opened fire on a police patrol car, so police returned fire. no officers were injured. police believe they may have wounded someone, so they are checking hospitals. one of atlantic city's shuttered casino said it has found a buyer. showboat has been bought by stockton college making it a satellite college. >> the warm is over. >> reporter: yeah, it's cooler this morning. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing we're dry. heading out on sky 6 we're looking at tranquil conditions

across the region. the sun coming up later on. there's center city, the winds are fairly light. 41 in philadelphia. 35 in wilmington, below freezing in reading an lancaster. 33 in allentown. as we mentioned at the top of the half-hour, windchills are knocking the temperatures are down five or six degrees so it feels like the 30s and 20s in some suburbs. if you're going out the turnpike, clouds get thicker as the morning and afternoon goes on. in allentown, 48 degrees, increasing clouds. there's a chance of light rain that could change over to wet snow this evening. that's in the lehigh valley. in atlantic city, light rain possible, 54 degrees is the forecasted high there. in philadelphia we're going for a cooler high today of 51. clouds on the increase during the day. winds out of the northwest at 6 miles per hour.

so it won't be all that wind. 41 degrees by 8:00. 46 by 11:00. 51 by 2:00 with clouds gathering and the high will be around 2:00. 47 by 5:00. northern and western suburbs picking up precipitation. you will notice we're changing over to snow in the poconos as this system moves toward us and temperatures start to drop there's a chance north and west of philadelphia. maybe around philadelphia, but mainly up in here, we see a little bit of wet snow mixing in. doesn't look like it will be a whole lot of that, but we want to warn you in the evening hours, look out for light rain mixing with snowflakes north and west. this could put a coating on lawns. we like to with an you if you're driving around and you see the wet snow falling look out for

patching ice overnight. overnight tonight, cooler, and in the 40s in the morning. and temperatures in around the freezing mark in some neighborhoods. increasing clouds, chilly, 51. we'll be looking out for light lane that could change overto wet snow north and west of i-95. tomorrow, brisk and chilly, high of 45. good winds running down out of the north through the region going to 15, 20, 25 miles per hour at times. sunny and cool on saturday with a high of 44 degrees, overnight low dipping all the way down to the freezing mark again. on sunday we have more clouds building through the day, 47 is the high, there's a chance of some rain late in the day or more especially at night and monday now looks like it's going to take the brunt of that rain with the possibility of some periods of steady rain on monday and then we drop into the 40s on

the windchills are making it feel cooler. 30 in hammonton. >> crews worked to bring down scaffolding dangling from one world trade center. the rig was suspended 48 stories above the ground with no way to get back down. firefighters cut a hole in the double paned glass and pulled the men to safety. a driver attempted to cross a bridge meant only for cyclists and pedestrians because his gps said it told him to. the mishap damaged several trees and concrete railings. the guy is 50, old enough to know better, he has been cited for reckless driving. a 4.8 magnitude earthquake
