the high today is going to be 45 degrees and we'll hit that about 2:00 and down to 44 at 3:00 p.m. and by 6:00. 38 with the winds gusting and blowing in the 12 to 25-mile an hour range it will feel like the 20s and the 30s this afternoon. >> reporter: all right we warned you about that cold air it's here. we're live in montgomeryville. you can see snow cover on the grass, watch for that. you could see a slick spot or two, the roads are in the process of drying out. i drove a ways and didn't hit any slick spots myself. on the schuylkill expressway and i-95 the speeds are in the 50s, you might want to bring it down a little bit. on the vine street expressway near 8th street there's no snow and drying out and looking good with no problems on the vine.

rink hosted a soft opening. the space in front of city hall has been under construction for two years. the 55 million-dollar park is replacing the 1970's vintage dilworth plaza. it's something historic. >> reporter: while some were lacing up their skates, the first snowflakes were falling. in morgantown, berks county, the snow didn't stick, but it did make for slippery conditions in time for rush hour. the football game pressed on even when the flakes turned to sleet. whether throwing a football for performing a half-time dance, these students were not down thed by the weather. >> >> it was amazing. >> we were going to be on the field today! >> and back here live at the

forecast. >> new on "action news," firefighters are busy battling a highrise fire in north philadelphia. it started inside an apartment buildings on 1000 block of north broad street at 10:30. crews evacuated the buildings while they put out the flames. took a half-hour to get the fire under control. nobody was hurt. a civil court jury in philadelphia has awarded $45 million to a mentally disabled woman who police say was held captive for ten years. she testified that linda weston starved her and made her drink her own urine. >> she got the verdict she deserved. she suffered through ten years of horrible abuse at the hands

worker. as she walked away, the man stabbed her in the back. police have not caught the man who attacked her. the justice department collects data from thousands of cell phones using devices on airplanes. the hitech gear that collects the data mimics communication towers. it is collecting data from innocent americans maybe like you. we have two signs of a steadily improving economy. companies hired workers in september at the fastest pace in seven years. more americans were confident enough to quit their jobs. that means the job market is becoming dynamic with different levels of opportunities. turning to stocks, investors could be looking to buy more at the opening bell. the second open enrollment

>> reporter: i hope not. that would be a bad hope. we don't have any more in the seven-day forecast, so that's good. we got the first flakes of the season, but that didn't amount to much. as we look outside, what do we have? , storm tracker 6 live 6, not much going on. there you go with sky 6. it's kind of cold out there. at least the precipitation is over. right now you have the airport and every now and then the cameras are bouncing around a bit. this one looks like it's locked down pretty good. as we go through the morning we have winds buildings and windchills that will be chilly out there. 37 degrees, the dewpoint, 30. the winds are out of the northwest at 14 miles per hour that's giving switches feeling like the mid to upper 20s. a morning to bundle up. you can see the precipitation

coming through. started out as rain and change over to snow. most of this affected grassy surfaces, it's been mild in the recent past, so the road surfaces are warm. if you see anything that's looks like ice, slow it down. we have clouds out to the west, generally speaking we're looking at partly sunny skies. we did get .2 of snow on grossy surfaces. allentown hit a record, half inch of snow at allentown international airport. how about that. graift ford half -- freighter ford a half -- graterford, a half inch. 41 degrees, 8:00. we are getting up to 45 degrees for the high in philadelphia. 41 in allentown.

got stuck even at this early hour, taking a live look at the schuylkill expressway from the strawberry mansion bridge. looking dry out there. i wonder what else is going on on the roads? >> well wonder no longer. >> reporter: i i was here for something. this is upper state at bristol road. you can see the snow cover is on the grass at this point. just a little bit over there, but not on the roadways. let's take a fly of the pennsylvania turnpike starting near bensalem, 53 miles per hour looks good. 65 we'll take it through willow grove and fort washington, you've got no problems at this point. the turnpike is looking good no issues and no overnight construction that's good news. in southwest philadelphia, the mid span of the platt bridge. you can see the camera, the winds are going to pick up a
