the numbers crashed into the mid 20s. let's show you the area temperatures. we'll start in allentown, 29 degrees. reading, a pair of 3s. lancaster, 34. wilmington, 38, trenton, 30 degrees. there's not much of a breeze, so the willful is the same as the numbers you saw there. there's a little bit of good news. we have clouds rolling in overnight. we're expecting a mainly cloudy day and eventually the clouds will give way to periods of rain for monday. some of that will be heavy at times. here's the day planner. 46 degrees by lunchtime, mostly cloudy. 3:00 p.m., 48 degrees, 6:00 p.m., 45 degrees, again, cloudy skies rain developing during the late evening hours, forecasting a high of 48. a winter weather advisory, this will go into effect overnight tonight for the poconos where they are expecting a period of snow which actually could accumulate a half inch to an inch. it should quickly change over to sleet and rain and all rain by

4:00. everybody else else is looking at a rain event with temperatures climbing to near 60 degrees by tomorrow afternoon. we'll talk about that and this for our far western suburbs this is late monday night into tuesday morning, the rain will end quickly, but the temperatures will drop quickly and the combination of the two could leave wet roads possibly freezing over in parts of the area, example being bridges and overpasses. we're not talking about a widespread freeze, but tuesday morning there could patchy ice around in parts of the far western suburbs. i'll have more on that and a colder seven-day forecast when i step back inside in just a bit. nydia. >> chris, thank you. developing news, a 10-year-old boy is clinging to life at children's hospital after he accidentsly shot himself in the face. we learned details about how he got his hands on the gun and who performed cpr on him. police in darby in delaware

county received reports of a child shot at 10:20 on cal cook road. >> they scoop the child right away, he was lifeless at the time we arrived. one officer drove and the other performed cpr in the back of the car. they got him to the nearest trauma center which was fitzgerald mercy. he was revived at the time they got him into the e-r there. the boy and his sister were dropped off at their father's job at an auto repair business after their mother had to go to work. the boy found the gun in the car under the drivers seat. the delaware district attorney will decide if the father will face any charges in the shootings. a vehicle veered off delaware avenue and hit a pole.

since 2011. the ncaa lifted the sanctions after the scathing report after the way the school handled the jerry sandusky scandal. >> it is more special the fact that we had 49 seniors that stayed around the program when the university and the community and the football program needed them most. >> it's a huge day for the program, for everything that we've been through, it's great that we can get the program back to where i think it should be. i.it's the president who is make be headlines who promised to tackle and review the freeh report along with the supporting materials produced during the course of the investigation. the content of the report led to questions about some in the penn state community. he came to penn state in may long after the 2012 commissioned report that has deeply divided the board of trustees.

lake-effect snow stream has dropped 3 to 6 inches. places like buffalo and erie picked up snow. all that will pass on by toward the north and the east. for us we're looking at cloud cover. across the countries a large portion of the lower 48 dealing with the arctic grips of old man winter. we have snow flying across the heartland of the nation into the great lake states. there's our weather as we getting into tomorrow. there's our rainstorm developing near memphis. temperaturessen on the backside of this area of low pressure. ten degrees in bismarck. 9 in omaha. 18 in wichita. on top of the cold air we're seeing images like this. this first shot is from lincoln, nebraska where they picked up anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of snow. roads were a complete mess, temperatures down into the

single digits and teams. you can see someone having a stroll in the winter wonderland. you can see a tractor teared off the road. minnesota was taking on ohio state yesterday, that game was in the snow the. the latter half of the second game was in the same system. for us, a quiet afternoon, chilly temperatures below average. tomorrow, the winds shift out of the south, 60 degrees, periods of rain and some of irrelevant heavy at times. we get into tuesday, the arctic front pushes flue, tuesday afternoon -- pushes through, tuesday afternoon, if we're lucky we top out at 35 degrees. today, we stay dry. overnight tonight we see a wintry mix develop for the poconos. everybody else looking at rain. tomorrow morning rain some of it heavy at times. we'll see ponding on area roads.

you'll see the yellows and oranges start to develop. we'll see downpours. the front will move off monday evening. the temperatures will drop off a cliff. there could black ice for the far western suburbs, we're not talking about widespread icing, be mindful of that tuesday morning as you make your way into work and school, there could slick spots. it will feel like 13 in reading, 15 in allentown, 22 in philadelphia. lehigh valley, cloudy skies, chilly, 45 degrees, atlantic city, same thing, cloudy skies, a little milder, shooting for a high of 52. it will be breezy during the arch. philadelphia, we'll top out around 48 degrees. lots of clouds out there and then the rain spreads in overnight tonight.

the tweet that set the internet on fire has since been deleted. i'm mary maloney reporting. >> we have an update on the boy who accidently shot his father's gun hitting himself in the face. the boy was sitting in his father's suv when he found the gun under the drivers seat and accidentally shot himself. the 10-year-old is in critical condition at children's hospital of philadelphia. investigators say the boy's mother dropped him off at his father's play of work because she had to go to work herself. >> a driver stabbed another at a bus bucks county intersection. kenneth moten tracked down the witness who saw it. >> reporter: police are calling it a possible road rage investigation as they work to figure out scabbingly what happened in this -- exactly what happened in this intersection.

peel say after the man attacked each other, they ran toward the gas station to get help. it's a busy intersection in warminster, street and york road. but police say two men didn't care. they jumped out of the car in a fit of rage before one stabbed the other. >> one guy said you're going to jail you stabbed me. >> reporter: police say a 45-year-old hatboro man and 47-year-old warminster man pulled over started arguing. the diner employee was at the sunoco next-door when he watched the men chase each other around the vehicle. things turned physical. one man was cut in the face and the other was stabbed in the stomach. >> reporter: what went through your mind when you were watching this. >> i saw all the blood coming, it was crazy. >> reporter: workers at the sunoco said the injured men try to to get into the store, but they locked the doors. the men ran across street road

want to talk about a changing skyline, there wasn't a skyscraper back in philadelphia. there was a gentleman's agreement it couldn't be higher than william penn's hat. >> reporter: that went out of the window. let's go live on sky 6. it's a nice quiet morning, temperatures are chilly, just like yesterday, but not as cold. we're seeing clouds though,. storm tracker 6 live showing we're crystal clear. 29 in allentown, millville, 35. not much of a breeze so not much of a windchill. satellite and radar showing we have snow showers across western pennsylvania state college and johns town reporting flurries. some of the activity will push on by to the northeast. not expected to move into our neck of the woods. even if it does, temperatures are mild right now at least they would be by the time they get in

here. the water vapor imaging, the little area of energy we were watching riding the southern branch. jet stream that was off the california coast it's pushing through the lonestar state. the clouds are starting to flare up here. that's the moisture, the developing storm that will bring us our wet weather as we get into monday, you can see the heavy rains flying from houston to nashville. this will ride up the spine of the appalachians. today is nice and dry. tomorrow is a washout. periods of rain and heavy at times. especially during the afternoon hours, the visibility will be reduced. the only positive because the low is passing on by to the west. the winds shift out of the south and temperatures are close to 60 degrees during the afternoon. that's the only positive in the forecast in the next 24 to 36 hours. here's future tracker 6 we'll run it through today, nothing going on. we'll get into the overnight hours, the rain will start around 9:00, 10:00 in the evening from southwest to northeast. by monday morning we'll see

light rain throughout the area. maybe heavier amounts for the far western suburbs. this will be the trend even the model is not showing too much during the afternoon, other models are. 4:30 here's some of the heavier weather moving into the western suburbs. that's the actual cold front itself. once it crosses the region, the temperatures will drop a good 20, 25 degrees within a 2 to 3 hour span. it will finn to fall tuesday morning -- it will continue to fall tuesday morning, in fact so fast there could black ice for the southwestern suburbs. there could be a good soaking in the area placing like allentown, the poconos, 3/4 of an inch in philadelphia and same thing for trenton. tomorrow, 60 degrees, periods of rain, and producing ponds on area roads. you have to remember there's a little leaves out there.

erin o'hern has raising healthy kids. >> what do they do? >> they clean the skin from bacteria. >> reporter: now that her surgery is done, this 10-year-old is a hospital veteran, but she gained a lot of knowledge before she went into the hospital, talking to her parents and child life special i specialist. children need to know what is wrong. >> they can have a much more difficult time copying with being in the hospital. they tend to use their imagination in those situations and create a worse scary situation. >> reporter: tell youngsters what's happening one day ahead for each year of their life. if a child is five, tell them five days beforehand. don't sugar coat it or use make believe words. it's not when kids hear the real
