there's 15 different states that are seeing measurable snow falling. it's an unbelievable pattern we're seeing across the lower 48. we're dealing with the cold weather right now, but this will pale in comparison to what's on the table this week. millville, 44. poconos at the freezing mark of 32. ful wilmington and dover, 43. locally we're seeing cloud cover over the mid atlantic states this afternoon all in advance of the system we're watching just now pushing through the tennessee valley. that precipitation will start to increase from southwest to northeast after 7 or 8:00. the remainder of the afternoon, mostly cloudy. yesterday we had a high of 44. today we have a high 58 degrees. south and east could reach 50. here's what's on the way tuesday and wednesday. the leading edge of the arctic invasion, it's only 14 in omaha and 17 in wichita, windchills

south broad building are no more. they were removed forever changerring the philadelphia skyline. nora muchanic is live at the scene with more on today's efforts. >> reporter: it was a big morning here, streets were sealed off, sidewalks were roped off for a several block aid outlines around city hall as the helicopter moved in and carefully picked you mean and removed every one of those giant letters 28 stories off the ground. pnb was start of the center city land scale for decades. now the letters have been taken town and hauled away leaving the top of the buildings bear. >> i think it's amazing. to bring that into the city, that's amazing. >> reporter: all eyes were sky ward in center city as crews worked with the helicopter pilot safely removing the iconic pnb letters from 1 south broad

street. >> we live on the 12th floor, it was wild seeing the letters come across the balcony. >> pulling this off was no easy task. crews tried this back in august, but had a hard time because the letters were deteriorating. flying them down to the ground was difficult even though it didn't look that way. >> we tightened them up, everything went great. >> reporter: pnb stands for philadelphia national bank. the letters were part of the skyline since 19 50s. well fargo deemed them unsafe to stay 20 stories off the ground and the folks got a show. >> we brought our kids ice skating and almost got successed

child shot at 10:30. when officer arrived they found the boy to the gunshot wound to the face. they rushed him to the hospital. that's not all. >> thanks to the alertness of the first arriving officers on scene. they scooped the child right away, he was lifeless at the time we arrived. one officer drove, the other performed cpr in the back of the car. they got him to the nearest trauma center which was fitzgerald mercy, he was revived at the time they got him there. >> the boy and his sister were dropped off at his father's job because the mother had to go to work. the boy found the gun under the drivers seat. an early morning one car crash on a manage money

gormry county road driver went out of control and hit a utility pole. the police are trying to determine what caused the car to go out of control. one person was killed overnight when their car slammed into a utility pole. it happened on the southbound side of delaware avenue north of oregon avenue in south philadelphia at 2:30 a.m. police say the 32-year-old driver was killed. police are now looking into what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. a catholic church in west philadelphia paused today to pay special tribute to america's servicemen and women. the action cam was at the 600 block of north 43rd street. dozens of reservists and veterans joined parishners, they offered prayers of thanks and for those serving now. >> the eagles are in green bay this afternoon. they are looking for another win

overnight tonight, 35 for suburbs, 41 center city. we have a winter weather warning in the poconos. we'll see rain in the delaware valley. poconos it's start out as snow and going over to sleet and freezing rain and all rain tomorrow morning. tomorrow i felt is a rain day, it will be warm, periods of rain, some of it heavy at times, it will lead to ponding on roads, that will slow down the morning commute and the evening commute and be on the look out for poor drainage areas, especially areas that see a lot of leaves clogging the drains. we'll have to deal with that, as well. along with that there will be poor visibility issues monday. monday looks like a miserable day. 60 monday, that's the only good news for monday. tuesday, upper teens, low 20s in thehills.

numbers to climb into the upper 50s before all is said and done. 43 in philadelphia. football weather, reading, 42. allentown, 40. poconos, 32 that's the freezing mark that's why they will see snow from the system at least to start. everyone else will be rain. dover, 43, millville, 44. satellite and radar, nothing together going on in the immediate future. you go towards pittsburgh they are clear. a couple of miles to the south, they are clear, as well. you have to go to the ohio and tennessee valleys to pick unthe moisture. some of this is coming down at a good clip. nashville getting walloped at this point hour. on the left-hand side of the screen that's where the heavier snows are flying southwestern portions of missouri and kansas that's shifting into saint louis. oklahoma reporting moderate snow.

fortunately this snow will track west of the delaware valley as it pulls north into new england. the next couple of days, expect mostly cloudy and milder, 48 degrees, rain heavy at times tomorrow, 60 degrees, here's the issue as we look at temperatures monday evening. before the front comes through, reading, lancaster, allentown, 44 degrees, look how quickly the numbers drop in an hour, i actually expect them to drop a little bit more so than what you're seeing there. the issue will be with wet roads and puddles and quick temperature drop excuse me like that we could have issues of icing developing in the far western suburbs. i'll talk about and have a look at the seven-day forecast when i step back inside in just a bit. >> the famed pnc letters atop the 1 south broad buildings are no more. the letters were lifted up and set on the grounds forever changing the philadelphia

skyline. nora muchanic has more on the changing efforts. >> reporter: it was like a movie scene watching a helicopter land several times in front of city hall. you don't see this everyday that's for sure. as we go up to the top of 1 south broad. i want you to take a look because the old pnb buildings looks bear. here's why, a cracker jack helicopter pilot went up and removed the 9pnb letters, they are 16 feet tall and weigh 3,000 pounds, getting it right was crucial. crews attempted to do this back in august, but the letters were rusted and deteriorating. they did a little different prep work unscrewing the old square bolts so the chopper could lift the letters and the scaffolding and dropping them one by one in front of city hall where they

were transferred on to flat bed trucks. we talked to man who was watching them as the job progdz. >> progdz -- progressed. i was here when they took the first three letters down, they had problems with that, i came out to see if they can make it work, they did, it took 40 minutes to get the other nine letters down, it took four hours to get three. whatever the problem was they fixed it. >> it was sad, it's a part of your skyline, part of your childhood, you drive into center city, you see city hall, and you see the pnb letters, now they are not there any more. >> reporter: now the project manager for philadelphia sign company said everything went perfectly. they had to get approval from the faa to fly the chopper so slow, several streets were sealed off for hours, but the job got down. as we come back live and look at the skyline without the iconic

letters. looks like something is missing. crews were up there after the letters were removed, making sure everything up there was secure and nothing left. thankfully the weather cooperated no winds to speak of and the project manager said that made life easier. something missing from the skyline, i guess that's progress. nora muchanic channel 6 "action news." >> a change, anyway. thank you very much, nora. >> the white house is working to confirm today's claims of isis militants of the beheading of another american captive. 26-year-old peter kassig a former army ranger was captured by the militants last year. he would be the third american killed by isis and the 5th westerner. in the most gruesome video released yet by isis the terrorist group claims to have beheaded american aid worker peter kassig.

aid worker, but no threats have been made to her life. philadelphia police are investigating a deadly shooting. crime scene tape was spread across north 21st street in north philadelphia. a man was shot several times. he was rushed to temple university hospital where he died from his wounds. >> two drivers were in the hospital where they got into a fight in the middle of a busy bucks county intersection. i tell happened at street roads and warminster. 45-year-old man from hat borough and 47-year-old man from warminster pulled over and started arguing and chasing each other around the vehicle. one was stabbed in the stomach and the other suffered cuts to his face. worker at the sunoco locked the doors when they try to to get inside. diners tell "action news" the two men continued to fight even as a good samaritan tried to break them up. >> i can't believe someone had the nerve to schmidt such a

see rain and not snow. if the winds were out of the northwest, it would have taken the cold air and drove it into the delaware valley. because it's out of here, the winds are out of the southeast the conditions will be way too mild. actually we'll be close to 60 degrees, we'll see rain out of this not snow. it will be developing west to east at 9:00 p.m. as we advance this you'll notice it picks up in intensity and coverage monday morning into monday afternoon. monday is a rain day, periods of rain will be heavy at times. expect quite a bit of ponding on area roads. visibility will be reduced at times, a miserable start to the workweek. 3:30, pockets of heavy rain. the front barrels through 8:00, 9:00. here is when it gets tricky.
