right, karen. >> yeah, right, karen. >> sorry. >> right now we're looking at very cold conditions across the region again. let's start you with satellite there. will be plenty of sunshine coming and over the horizon but like yesterday it's not going to help much. there's very little localized cloud cover. 21 degrees right now in philadelphia at the 6 o'clock hour. that is just 1 degree above a record low for this date, 21 in wilmington, 21 in trenton, 19 in reading. and still 12 in the mount pocono. mount pocono just 2 degrees above the record right now. that 18 in allentown well above the 11-degree record but we are in record territory in a lot of spots. even though the winds are lighter temperatures are colder so the light wind gives you pretty severe wind chills. it feels like it's 11 in philadelphia, 11 from trenton, 11 in wilmington, a 6-degree wind chill right now in allentown. and as we head out the door to catch that school bus, can kids, bundle up just like yesterday. looks like temperatures stay around 21, 22 degrees between 7 and 8 o'clock. and in philadelphia, we're only going for a high of 33 this afternoon.

we'll hit that at about 2 o'clock on the smartphone you can see that at 3 o'clock we're back to 32 and 30 by 6 o'clock. karen rogers, we do get a little bit better numbers in the afternoon tomorrow. i'll have them for you coming up in the seven day. >> all right, dave, we've got restrictions on the in turnpike due to a fatal accident and chopper 6 was overhead showing the scene of this multi-vehicle accident. we had three tractor-trailers that caught on fire here in cranbury township, new jersey. you can see the number of emergency workers out there dealing with this and a number of lanes affected by this. this all happened late last night and it's still impacting your morning commute. it's on the new jersey turnpike headed northbound. look how that traffic backed up there for miles between exit six and exit 8a. the outer roadway is still blocked at this hour. that's the roadway the section of the turnpike where all the trucks travel. the inner roadway where they usually tell the cars to travel is still opened but because of that expect delays. stick to route 130 or route

nine. in hamilton township a downed pole off to the right shoulder on 130 southbound approaching i-195. a live look outside at i-95 here nearly a gain, that's your southbound traffic headed towards center city. just a little building volume so far, matt. >> thanks, karen. so you kind of getting the feeling here we're flirting with record lows on this wednesday morning. "action news" reporter katherine scott bundled up for us is on the lookout for any polar bears, what russs, penguins, other cold weather creatures and commuters in there city's frankford section. how are we doing there, katherine? >> reporter: well, i haven't seen a polar bear yet but it is still early and it feels like they should be because it is cold out here. the temperatures slid down a little bit lower than they were yesterday. the wind gusts aren't as strong as they were yesterday but there's still wind and it's chilly out here. here at the frankford transportation sent you can see the commuters are getting on their buses if they're here. some of the people waiting for buses are having a cold wait this morning. they're all zipped up and

heading in to work. these are near record lows. we have been speaking to commuters that have been telling us that one of the issues is that we haven't adjusted yet to the cold so the blast of air that you get coming outside in the morning comes as bit a bit of a shock. >> it was cold, shoot. >> reporter: what are you wearing to keep warm? >> i got on my coat, i got on a hoodie, i got on a long-sleeve shirt, i got on long johns, i got on two pair of socks. it's cold. >> reporter: you did not skimp. >> no. >> reporter: take a page out of her book. she was ready for this morning and back here live we can see people are getting on and off their buses with a few more layers this morning. some have a lot more layers and they're clutching their cups of coffee, their cups of tea. you might need an extra one this morning. live in frankford, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> katherine go get in the warm van. and the polar cold is making for even bigger problems in western new york.

a massive snowfall covered towns near buffalo with more than 4 feet of the white stuff. it's being blamed for at least four deaths. erin o'hearn is lie at the big board with more on this wicked weather. erin some of these pictures are unbelievable. >> yeah, there's probably one word for this weather in buffalo, insane. let's take a look at some of these images coming out of this area and this isn't old man winter knocking on the today, he's literally kicking it down. this double door collapsed from the weight of the snow. this is the new york state thruway. this wasn't just a few hours that commuters were delay. some were stuck there for 24 hours and are actually still stuck. now here's a really cool video. maybe they wouldn't can consider it cool. but these are actually backhoes and dump trucks. that's how serious these conditions are. they can't even clear the white stuff without the help of some major construction equipment. now, let's take a look at a time lapse video of the snow coming in. the storm has dumped close to 8 feet of snow in some areas and has been accompanied by

high winds creating bone chilling conditions and thick drifts. the new york national guard was deployed to help the buffalo area dig out. authorities issued a ban blocking unnecessary travel in some areas while crews tried to clear the roads. the snow left people stranded in cars, turned roadways into parking lots and force emergency responders to reel lie on snow mobiles. that's a shots of a basketball team. talk about adding insult to injury, the basketball team was on their way home after a loss in pittsburgh and they got stuck through the night but of course they weren't the only ones. >> you can see it's white everywhere, cars are stuck. we aren't going anywhere. >> we are having some difficulty in obtaining enough tow trucks to help clean the roads of cars that are abandoned. >> it ain't over yet. by the end of the week some areas could see 90-inches as another round of wintry

weather is expected to hit the area. basically the equivalent of a year's worth of snow may hit some areas over just a three-day period. we're just dealing with the cold, tam, so be thankful. >> okay, compared to that we can take a little cold. thank you, erin. along with flames firefighters also had to battle freezing temperatures overnight while they confronted a house fire in north wildwood. the action cam was at the scene a little after 9 o'clock last night in the 200 block of west 17th street. crews quickly brought the blaze under control at the two-story single home. there's no word yet on injuries. the fire marshal is still looking for the cause. it's 6:07 and a devastating fire ripped through the historic columbus farmer's market in burlington county late yesterday afternoon. the four-alarm blaze left behind a charred shell where the main building once stood here along route 206. the farmer's market was not opened at the time. merchants will wondering what the future holds for them now. >> from what the fire companies have told us, that the building we're located in

is just entirely gone, you know, so everything we have is gone. >> the fire marshal and the springfield township police department are investigating a cause. merchants are hoping the outdoor flea market could partially reopen for the busy holiday season. >> federal regulators clearly believe the problem with those exploding air bags is much worse and more widespread. maribel aber is live at the nasdaq in times square. good morning, maribel. >> reporter: hey, good morning, matt. regulators wants takata to make its recall nationwide. recalls have been limited to regions where there is high humidity. it's believed humidity plays a part in the air bags malfunctioning but regulators say a new incident occurred in north carolina, a state not covered by regional recalls. three deaths have been tied to the exploding air bags. a new poll finds that some millennials lack the discipline to be financially responsible. millennials are contending with high student loan debt and stagnant wages but at the same time view traveling and

tomorrow we'll get into the 40's but it's going to get cold again on friday so a little bit of a break tomorrow but it doesn't last that long. here are the current temperatures. 21 degrees is your current number in philadelphia. that's just one slim degree away from a record low for this morning. 18 in allentown, 19 in reading, 16 in lancaster, 21 in trenton. and 26 degrees in sea isle city. as we fake a look, we've got wind chills that are pretty severe this morning. 11 is what it feels like in philadelphia. six in allentown. now, the winds are technically not as strong as they were west but because the temperatures are colder we're getting actually worse wind chills this morning than what we saw yesterday. those will improve a bit as we go later in the afternoon. again a lack of any major cloud cover out there so we are looking at plenty of sunshine today. up in allentown, though, a very similar day today, still cold with a high of 30 degrees, lots of sun, less wind than yesterday but we'll still see wind chills in the teens and 20's in the lehigh valley. and down the shore, it looks like the mid 30's for the seconds straight day. mainly sunny but still chilly, winds not quite as strong but definitely coat weather.

and in philadelphia t-a high of 33, very similar to yesterday. mostly sunny, not quite as windy with winds gradually turning out of the southwest at eight to 16 miles per hour. but it will still be a day for winter coats, gloves, lats, scarves, all that good stuff if you're going to be out there for any extended period of time. by 8 o'clock, 22, by 11 o'clock, 27 degrees. we will be above freezing briefly this afternoon around 2 o'clock and then back down to about 30 by 5 o'clock. temperatures probably hover tonight around the freezing mark. future tracker shows you on thursday morning we're going to start out with temperatures around the freezing mark, about 10 degrees milder tomorrow morning than what we've got out there right now. and as we go into the afternoon we will get into the 40's, not that it's going to be balmy tomorrow but we won't have those highs near freezing any longer. it will get at least temporarily betterment your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecasts, still very cold today, a high of 33. breezy but not as windy as yesterday. and then tomorrow in the afternoon, a bit of a break with that high of 43. but on friday, another shot of cold air, a high of just 36 and it's going to be brisk.

we'll probably be talking pretty severe wind chills on friday. and then saturday chilly, back up to 40. we begin to moderate. looks like sunday we could be up closer to 60 degrees. there could be an afternoon shower now, though, eagles fans, so keep an eye on that and then monday 66 with a chance of some showers. >> okay. >> we'll take it. >> yes. >> it's 6:12 and still ahead, really taking a bite out of crime. this one is brand new at 6 o'clock. a would be burglar got a lot more than he bargained for when he tried to break into a local home. >> a big fall our area is getting even bigger. what you can expect and when you can expect it. karen. >> looking pretty good here on the blue route here at route 3. we could see traffic moving okay. chopper 6 is over the scene of that fatal accident involving a tractor-trailer fire. the very latest coming up. >> and also the flyers will be without one of their stars tonight after an injury that even left the team surprised. we'll explain when "action news" comes right back. >> ♪

scene. three tractor-trailers caught on fire on the new jersey turnpike northbound. that doesn't happen very often that you get three tractor-trailers on fire so that's why it's taking so long. you can see they're still dealing with the cleanup and this is the new jersey turnpike northbound. this is the outer roadway that's shut down because of all the activity that's been going on all night long. the outer roadway, that's where the turnpike splits and more of the trucks go on the outer roadway and cars stick to the inner roadway. the inner roadway is moving. as cooper you zoom out we can see the number of cars that are stuck trying to go into the inner roadway. that's going to create a jam-up even more when you have more volume out there. as chopper looks back you see all the people northbound on the new jersey turnpike so slowly moving at this point. northbound this is affecting you between exit six and exit 8a and you see sort of the row of headlights heavier traffic than we normally see on the new jersey turnpike northbound at this hour in mercer county all because of that fatal accident involving three tractor-trailers that caught on fire. chopper 6 live on the scene right there but let's look at the maps.

you see the slowing here. you could stick to 130 in this area or route 9 both good alternates to deal with the turnpike northbound up in mercer county between exit six and exit 8a i talked to police in here lie county and they tell me there's an accident that's blocking the roadway. it's 145 mcarthur road at chestnut street so watch for restrictions right there. in hatboro montgomery county we have a new accident and this is also blocking a lane. it's here on blair mill road at county line road. and one more thing, an accident in ambler just coming in to us, welsh road and terrace drive. it's blocked right now. you can stick to limekiln pike as your alternate. so a few accidents all coming in right now. the weather so cold out there, 18 degrees in allentown, 21 in philadelphia, 22 in millville. you factor in the winds, in the single digits in allentown feels like 6 degrees, feels like 11 in philadelphia and 10 in millville. bundle up, tam. >> i will do my best. thank you, karen. a bucks county father now faces charges for his toddler's fatal drug overdose. faces charges for his innocence as he was led off to

jail. >> why would i kill my own son? it don't make no sense. >> police in middletown township say two-year-old sebastian consumed six oxycodone pills at wallace's apartment in bristol last month. wallace took him to the er where the little boy died. authorities allege there was no accident and charge wallace with criminal homicide. >> new at 6:00 a dog in berks county took a bite out of crime while protecting its owner's house. a burglar broke into the home on railroad road and came across the homeowner's dog and the pet was not looking for a tummy rub. police say the owner came home to find things knocked all over the place and blood throughout the house. they think the burglar could be connected to other break-ins throughout berks county. >> give that dog a bone. it is 6:18. getting even bigger, the king of prussia mall is expanding its already vast kingdom of stores. >> the flyers are not so forthcoming about what is wrong with their second

county, last night. police say three tractor-trailers were involved and all of them caught fire. the crash happened at 9:00 last night and there are still delays on the highway, more than nine hours later. karen rogers is here with more on that. karen. >> that's right, matt, with chopper 6 over the scene right now as we look live at this, you can see that they're still working out there. they've been working through the night cleaning up this mess involving three tractor-trailers on fire. what you're looking at with that blocked traffic right there, that's the outer roadway of the new jersey turnpike northbound but we see the inner roadway is moving. this is where the turnpike splits off and the outer lanes are more for trucks and the inner is more for the cars. chopper if you pan back you can kind of get a look at the number of people out there at this hour and we can see traffic is moving but certainly moving slower than it would be at this hour on the new jersey turnpike northbound. we've got a good 23-mile stretch with lane restrictions on the turnpike. this is northbound between exit six and exit 8a.

as we look at this the accident itself happened in middlesex county and most of the closure here is in mercer county, new jersey, so as you're traveling up between mercer and middlesex, you're dealing with these restrictions here. one thing you could do is take 130 or route 9 instead because they're still out there working on this right now. let's go to mass transit. we've got more issues with mass transit now. new jersey transit, the ac rail line suspended between center city and cherry hill. this is because of switching problems in the area so you need to watch for that as you're headed out. also the manayunk norristown line getting 15 minute delays here still happening because of wire problems out there. so, a few issues with mass transit. i just want to go outside live because another problem is right on the schuylkill expressway. this is past the blue route eastbound traffic right here an accident involving a tanker truck eastbound jammed at this point from approaching to past the blue route with that accident, tam. >> thank you karen. and as david was talking about, we're dealing with some near-record-low temperatures today. if you just throw on a robe to let the dog out usually trust me, today you're going to want to put on the coat. the action cam is live at the

frankford transportation center where people are bundling up and heading off to work. it may not be as windy as yesterday but don't let that fool you. it is a brutal day out there to be waiting for something like the bus. it's also a day to let that car run for awhile to warm up. >> brand new this morning, firefighters had to battle flames and freezing temperatures near the jersey shore. the fire broke out along route 9 in middle township cape may county at 10 o'clock last night. crews tell us it started in the back of this single family home. police and the fire marshal remained on the scene to try to find a cause. they have not said whether anyone was hurt. >> new this morning strong claims pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane has offered up stunning new depictions about what was in a series of graphic e-mails. those exchanges have cost several state employees their jobs. kane says some of those messages included child pornography. our erin o'hearn is live at the big board. erin these are serious allegations. >> tam, they are serious

allegations but it appears some of her allegations have been met with some skepticism. in a cnn interview last night kane did not hold back calling the pornographic e-mail images "deplorable, hard core, graphic and at times violent. she went on to say that many of the images depicted children and elderly women and also involved violent sexual acts against women. one of kane's lawyers in the case, though, said he had not seen all of the e-mails involved and was not clear as to what kane was referring to but addd that two images of the children he saw were inappropriate but not necessarily pornographic. last week kane said four of her employees had been fired and 11 suspended without pay for involvement in the pornographic e-mail scandal. last month, justice seamus mccaffrey retired after his fellow justices suspended him when it was disclosed he had sent or received 234 of those e-mails. kane previously said the e-mails surfaced during an examination of how state

prosecutors handled the jerry sandusky case but claims now a court order is preventing her from doing her job. >> i am being stopped from performing my duties as attorney general. my office is being stopped from certain investigations. and we are being stopped even from telling why. >> now a spokesperson for the corbett administration which also reviewed some of the e-mails said it was unaware that the e-mails contained pictures of children. tam, back to you. >> okay, thank you, erin. this is new this morning, yet another woman has come forward to accuse comedian bill cosby of rape. model and tv host janice dickinson said the assault happened in 1982 in lake tahoe, california, where cosby was performing. she says she wrote about the incident in her 2002 autobiography but that cosby and his lawyers pressured her and the publisher to take out the details. dickinson is the third woman in so many days to talk about her claims against cosby. he's not facing any criminal charges but there does now seem to be some corporate

6abc.com for a link to the philadbundance donation page. >> you were out there seven minutes ago. >> yes. >> i mean, it's really just brutally cold. >> oh, yeah . >> [laughter] >> still cold. storm trackerstorm tracker 6 lie scan looking at dry conditions this morning as we take a look outside. we do have sunshine getting ready to come up over the horizon so that's good. but that's about the only thing that's good because there's still a bit of a breeze blowing and the temperatures are very cold. want to quickly show you today's record lows. 20 in philadelphia and then in the teens in reading, trenton, the airport and atlantic city and mount pocono at 10 degrees. in philadelphia, we actually have dipped to within 1 degree of that record low and other spots like the poconos and reading in particular are very close. don't know that we're going to set any records this morning but we're right on the borderline there. winds out of the west at 9 miles per hour. now, you'll notice that that's not as strong as yesterday. in fact, as we look at current winds, still coming a bit out of the west-northwest. a lot of us are in the single

digits a couple spots in the low teens. not as bad as yesterday but we still have wind chills that are actually worse than yesterday morning. single digits in some cases like allentown and out towards lancaster. because you're starting out with colder temperatures, okay, so it's another morning to bundle up. obviously sunglasses will be important if you're climbing behind the wheel because we're not going have a lot of cloud cover out there this morning. as we roll through the day, very similar numbers to yesterday. we're again going to go for a high of 33 degrees. we'll probably hit that around tbo 2 -- 2 o'clock. wind chills in the 20's across most of the region. high temperatures in allentown below freezing again today, 30 for a high there. 31 in reading, 33 in trenton and down the shore, like yesterday, mid to upper 30's but it still isn't going to be what you would call a comfortable day. wind chills for the rest of today are going to be a little better than yesterday. by noon, we'll be up into the low 20's, wind chill-wise. yesterday we were in the mid to upper teens across the region and we'll probably hold

those wind chills in the low 20's. i'm showing you this for two reasons. one, to illustrate it's a little better than yesterday but two, to illustrate that doesn't really matter because you're still looking at pretty severe conditions. tomorrow morning temperatures will not be as bad. we'll only going down to about the freezing mark so instead of the low 20's what was the be in the low 30's tomorrow morning, a little better and in the afternoon we will get back into the 40's and then another dip for friday. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast shows a high of just 33 today. very cold. similar to yesterday, not quite as much wind and then not as harsh tomorrow afternoon, a bit of a break with in high of 43. on friday, though t-right back into the frozen zone. 36 is your high. brisk and colder with wind chills back in the 20's on friday. and then it's still kind of chilly on saturday. we get up to 40 in the afternoon. sunday is when it turns milder, a-60. there now appears to be a couple of showers possible in the afternoon, so keep an eye on that, eagles fans. 66 on monday with some showers. but who cares? it's rain, not snow. 66 -- i'll go walk in the rain. >> i would take a monsoon -- well, maybe not.

>> ♪ >> welcome back. chopper 6 is live for us now over the new jersey turnpike. these are the northbound lanes right north of the exit a, the cranbury township exit. you want to talk about how bad this accident was. it happened last night at 9 o'clock. three tractor-trailers coming together and a big fire there. they're still dealing with this and closures this morning. >> karen rogers runs it all down, how to avoid it. what's going on karen. >> i'm looking here live because you wonder gosh why so many workers out here still after it happened at 9 o'clock last night. if we can look at this, i don't know if you can tell but looks like they're doing some repaving of the roadway with three tractor-trailers that caught on fire, you've got some damage here and can you look at this now that it's getting a little bit brighter, i don't know if you can see this indentation here but looks like the median affected by this as well. so in addition to the cleanup and the fatal accident investigation, it looks like they might have to rebuild part of the roadway here by repaving and by checking the integrity of the median wall. so, this is why the new jersey turnpike northbound, this is the outer lanes here, the

outer lanes are blocked. outer lanes is where the trucks go and the inner roadway is where the cars going. all the traffic going here on the inner roadway and chopper if you pan back a little we can get a sense of just how many people are out there this morning. it's going to create a lot of congestion. this is northbound past exit six to exit 8a. it's about 23 miles that's affect the by this. for this long of a time they've been working all through the night and now that it's brighter we get a better sense of why. you can see all of these people slowly going through this area at this point. if this stays out here and it look like it will be out here a little bit longer you'll just see this volume really build. watch for that on the new jersey turnpike northbound. much of the closure and restrictions in the mercer county but the accident itself happened in middlesex county so affecting two counties, that's how wide the area s you can stick to 130 or route 9 instead. getting more accidents coming in to us through the area, this one here in clementon camden county on blackwood clementon road a busy area near cedar lane.

another one involving two vehicles, police on the scene in warminster on blair mill road. a disabled vehicle on horsham road. kind of a lot hang at this hour, matt. >> thanks, karen. the new jersey state attorney general's office is taking a new look at a high profile case. abc news reports that evidence suggests john and joyce sheridan had been stabbed before the fire was set in the bedroom of their somerset county home. and suggests a third party may have done the stabbing. investigators initially suspected that the deaths of the former cooper health systems ceo and his wife back in september were a murder-suicide. joyce sheridan had been stabbed at least eight times. john sheridan had knife wounds to the neck and side. >> philadelphia's seconds casino officially has a home, it's going right near the sports complex. the state gaming control board awarded the gambling license to live hotel and casino. developers plan to build a new complex at ninth and packer where the holiday inn is right now. neighbors having vocal about
