with rick williams, sara bloomquist, and meteorologist, david murphy. good afternoon with a developing story, new information about the winty mix threatening to affect the travel of millions of people. we are learning about what to expect in our area, when the rain and snow arrives. but first one more day of pretty mild conditions, not bad out there, sky 6 hd looking at philadelphia international airport lots of clouds out there ahead of a drastic change in the forecast. for the latest from accuweather lets head to the big board and david murphy. >> the first update is the one you mentioned. the last update was in the last hour hour and a half. northern bucks and northern and western chester counties, berks county and lehigh valley and the poconos and hunterdon, new

jersey. this is where heavy wet snow will come in tomorrow extending into the evening and we could see slushy or slippery roads developing, i think the farther you get to the poconos the more treacherous it gets. closer to philadelphia it's an advisory, probably wet roads here but poor visibility here particularly in the afternoon. we look at the at the timeup, more precipitation to the east coast, a wave of low pressure is in the process of developing and it's passing us by tomorrow as the moisture comes in and you can see lake-effect snow west of detroit and this cold air is coming in and the interaction of that moisture produces rain and snow for the area here. as we take a look at how this develops, at 4:00 in the morning we have the chance of rain overtaking philadelphia and

we'll be on the air for you tracking that. a little bit of rain developing north of allentown but later in the morning though to 10:00 or 11:00 before you see the total change over to snow and a better chance of this after the noon hour. the timeline begins as rain late in the morning and afternoon and we'll see the heaviest rain and snow occurring, the then late in the evening the whole thing ends with snow and ice and rain to the south, what to expect in terms of travel, i think it's wet on roads and the i-295 corridor, we will probably just looking at wet conditions, it's farther north especially the northeast extension and i-78, closer to the poconos and the lehigh valley where we have a better chance of snow covered

at city hall. katherine scott is standing by with new reaction to the ferguson decision. >> rick, a lot of different opinions on this decision, and a lot of strong ones as well. there are rallies held in center city, and more scheduled for philadelphia including two at city hall. so far they are peaceful and the hope is that that doesn't change. hundreds of protesters wither were out in philadelphia last night. emotions ranged from disappointment to outrage, from the grand jury's decision not to indict a police officer in the shooting death of michael brown. demonstrators demanded action against the officer hoping that the u.s. justice department would step in. >> this was not for a conviction, this was just to go to trial. i think we have to change the

narrative, not only what we think of ourselves, but what america thinks of us, if we are going to stop being murdered like this. >> can you see philadelphia police officers on foot and on bicycles, out to ensure the protests were carried out peacefully. only two people were take and into custody as they tried to march on to i-95, the philadelphia police commissioner says it is no excuse for what transpired in ferguson. >> we can all second guess all we want, the bottom line is, if they decided to announce it at midnight, there is no excuse for burning and looting. >> he added there was no reason to think the protesters in philadelphia would be anything but peaceful and commuters were relieved. >> i think that this community is focused like a lot of the rest of the country on moving forward, talking about it, and

a suspect is in police custody after leading them on a chase in l.a. it went a span of 70 miles and the driver was eventually cornered in a neighborhood and bailed and made it on to a rooftop. he was there for three hours, even washed himself using a rooftop water tap. the driver and passenger were wanted for a drive-by shooting and drug offenses. representatives for the cleveland boy shot and killed by an officer. police say that the officer that shot him on saturday was standing 10 feet from the boy,

rice was holding a toy air soft gun but police say it was indistinctable from a real gun and the orange tip to indicate it was a toy had been removed. now they have not found a missing toddler with autism. malik drummond wandered way from his home, and the search is focused on a 25 mile area in his home. >> we love him very much, and i miss him. i'm his nana and i don't know what i would do without my little boy. >> investigators have not ruled out foul play but so far his family is cooperating with police and there is no indication they have harmed the child. the university of virginia's board will hold a meeting amid

growing allegations of sexual misconduct at the school. in a report published in rolling stone, a student described being assaulted by seven men at a fratd house, the alleged incident happened in 2012, the university said the police did not ask them to investigating the incident until the article was made public. the school has banned fraternity activities during the investigation. honda underreported the injuries received in its vehicles the past decade. they failed to report 1700 injuries and deaths since 2003. they are citing data mistakes for the reason for the discrepan discrepancy.

meteorologist, david murphy is here to take a closer look at what to expect tomorrow. when we wake up, is there any indication that the weather is coming here? >> well, people in the region -- when they wake up. the snow will take a while before it changes over especially in philadelphia. no snow, no rain, no nothing out there now on stormtracker 6 live double scan, but we'll have the radar cranked up tomorrow morning for sure. lots of cloud cover in center city and elsewhere in center city. it looks like the clouds will win the rest of the afternoon for the most part. 56 in philadelphia but not nearly as warm as average, not a bad time noon time temperature, not as windy and blustery as yesterday. 53 in allentown and 55 in

wilmington and these numbers may an a degree to the numbers you are looking at the next hour but this is pretty much what are you stuck with the next couple of hours and then the temperatures start to fade a bit as the day goes on. it looks like these are not going to be an issue for us and fairly thick cloud cover to the west and we'll go with a mostly cloudy call the most of the day. 55 degrees and less wind as yesterday and still as warm as average. we'll go for an afternoon high of 55. and in philadelphia, your official high today will be well up into the 60s. if you look at records later on, that is what you'll see, that was back around midnight. i'm going for the afternoon, that will be 56 or 57 over the next hour or so. winds are not all that bad and

overnig overnight, cloudy skies skies and 40 is the overnight low, but the rain is developing, but as we look at future tracker 6 it doesn't get cranking if philadelphia until 2:00 in the morning and then you'll see how the rain spreads to the north in the morning, by 6:00 it will still be too mild for snow, even at 8:00 we see rain in allentown but after we get past 9:00 or 10:00, you'll see the areas of changeover with snow developing and by 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, that snow is developing near philadelphia and by 6:00 we wrap this up and change to all snow farther south. it looks to get out quick in philadelphia and could be done by 9:00 at the shore. what to expect, again we look at the wet morning start as early as rain and early afternoon, we get a changeover to wet snow and

grand jury decision continues to fuel protests across the country and here in our region we are live. and a machete wielding thief is now behind bars. and it's the calm before the winter storms. we are enjoying one more seasonable day of nice temperatures before we plunge into rain and snow. here is a live look at the center city skyline, no precipitation falling at this point. but in less than 24 hours that will change in our area, lets head to david murphy with the latest information for us. >> things are changing a little bit, record highs in the low 70s yesterday and today we are in the 50s, lots of cloud cover probably sinking to 50 by dinner time. all eyes are on tomorrow, a winster storm warning is in affect starting tomorrow.

those are in the high lighted counties in pink, northern chester county and berks county and lehigh county and the poconos. it will start before the morning is out and then continuing on. the areas in pink you have a chance of slippery roads. the blue counties surrounding the pink are in an advisory. i expect mainly wet roads but could get some poor visibility from wet snow. future tracker 6 showing this moving up from the south and by 6:30 it has it up towards allentown and we have to wait until 9:00 or 10:00 before we see snowflakes mixing in to the northern and western areas and then it builds in down towards philadelphia. by about 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon. and what are we expecting on the

ground when all is said and done tomorrow night, it looks like a 1 to 3 inch accumulation mainly on the grassy surfaces on the i-95 corridor. use your thinking cap, if you see things getting slushy on the secondary and side roads and then you get up north to the 3 to 6 inch range and you could have slippery road conditions. the poconos is not a good idea to drive around in the afternoon and evening, because you have snow covered roads. if you get out before the change over to wet snow, are you probably better off dealing with rain, that is better than snow. and late at night the road conditions will start to improve. we'll look at future tracker 6 when i come in and a couple of models, the slight differences and how the snow will come in,

coming up in a built. lets switch live to walter perez in allentown on more on what crews are doing to prepare for this storm. >> reporter: hi sara, i'm put together this snow prep calendar and i'm saying it's too early for this, but the reality is that winter weather is heading our way and penndot is gearing up. it's an early snow storm and a tricky one as well. some are expecting more rain and some are expecting snow. either way penndot is getting ready for whatever mother nature throws at them. >> we want to get out there and find the road crew and folks are traveling and making the roads as safe as possible. >> but they admit that this could be easier if this storm brought all rain or all snow. >> if it's raining we typically

don't brine because it wash as way, but if they are calling for snow or ice we pretreat the roads. they have issued a travel advisory because of the pending weather conditions and tomorrow is the big travel day before thanksgiving. the heaviest volume day is expected to be tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. we spoke with a bunch of commuters, who say it's too early for this. >> i'm looking at my yard and it's covered with leaves, and i was thinking i'd be out there raking leaves but instead shoveling snow. >> yesterday was 71 degrees and hi short-sleeves on today a jacket and tomorrow snow. that is the way pennsylvania is. >> the advice from penndot, remains the same, slow or

streets and vandalized cars, looted and started fires. 80 people were arrested and a spokesperson from michael brown's family says they are heart broken over the ruling. >> with this secret grand jury proceedi proceedings, it's troubling because you don't know what tonight and emphasis was given to things, michael brown's family is left just hollow this morning. >> firefighters continue to douse the flames of buildings still burning and their efforts were hampered because of gun fire in the area. and it led to protests across the country including here in philadelphia. david henry is live now in center city. >> reporter: we have a small demonstration going on here outside of the federal building, right down in front of the front doors on the market street side, a group of about 12

demonstrators are out numbered 3 to 1 by police, but they came to make an important point, it doesn't end with the decision made in ferguson last night. they want the federal government, the federal department of justice to continue pressing on with the civil rights case that could come against officer wilson. last night demonstrators marched throughout the streets of philadelphia, they were corralled mostly by police, but they marched through the streets shouting loudly and making their point heard and even at one point trying to get on to i-95, to stop traffic but they were prevented from doing that. mayor michael nutter spoke about the events here last night. >> you have protests and demonstrations here in philadelphia last night. i acknowledge that our

protesters here worked with and communicated with the police department and the police protected them, they were able to do what they were able to do. we need to commend the protesters and organizers and command the philadelphia police department. peaceful night here in philadelphia, some residual anger developing but none of the rioting and burning and looting that went on in ferguson. there will be further demonstrations later on this evening and this afternoon starting at 3:30, groups are gathering at city hall and around 5:00, this is a good warning for rush hour motors they plan to march from city hall to cecil b. moore, that is a good area to avoid starting at rush hour this evening. david henry, channel 6 "action news."

he liked young girls and the youngest girl he had sex with for money was 12 years old. >> today's charges are connected to an ongoing investigation involving sex trafficking in philadelphia's german town section. this is 23-year-old christian morgan, police say this is the machete wielding bandit that robbed several businesses in the city according to police. can you see the masked bandit pulling a machete from his pants and he used the same technique to rob a 7-eleven on sunday and ran off without any money and was arrested a short time later. customers in new jersey are suing the food chain, tgi fridays, saying they did not put drink prices on their menus so they could charge more.

david murphy here now with a very important accuweather forecast. as we look ahead to the big travel day. >> stormtracker 6 live double scan showing you that the day before that big travel day, we are more tranquil. nothing showing on storm tracker, lots of clouds out there and every now and then you get a sunny break and the back bays behind atlantic city and margate. we look at fairly gray conditions, temperatures are cooler than yesterday, we set the records up over 70 yesterday. 56 is about all we'll get. winds west at 10 miles per hour. the highs this afternoon, these are all right about now, and 55 in allentown and 60 in trenton and low 60s in spots south of philadelphia, 54 by 3:00 and 51

by 5:00 and down into the 40s by 9:00 but the 40s are well above freezing, where you'll we'll see is rain. the latest model run shows rain possibly past philadelphia and getting steady and heavy at times during the morning commute, probably have to wait until 8:00 or 9:00 before we see a changeover to snow in the northern and western suburbs. that changeover becomes more probable in philadelphia. maybe a dip of snow in seasonal before this whole thing wraps up. by 7:00 we dry up in philadelphia, by the shore 8:00 or 8:30 in most neighborhoods. so what so expect tomorrow? the rain changes quickly to wet snow in the northern and western suburbs, take is easy on roads

if you see the covering. in the metro area, we probably maintain just wet road conditions, and then south in new jersey and delaware, it's rain but maybe flakes to end. the european model is more aggressive with the precipitation, going for the 1 to 3 in philadelphia, i personally think it's overselling but close to what we are calling for, the gsf is much more docile. it has so much more mild air coming in we don't get much in philadelphia, but the step up to 3 to 6 is farther north, this is not the way we are leaning now, but it's a possibility. these are tricky storms especially this time of the season. mainly rain to the south and as you step into northern bucks, and points north, 3 to 6 inches

and a better chance of slippery road conditions. as we take a look at driving conditions again rain will change to big wet snowflakes and that will reduce your visibility but i think the i-95 corridor is just wet but the worst driving conditions in the afternoon and the best is at night when it's all done. mostly cloudy today and 56 and falling this afternoon, snow to the northwest and to the south and philadelphia is in the middle starting with rain and then the change of snow mid-day or so. 40s is the high but dropping into the 30s once the snow starts and then it's all gone for thanksgiving, you'll have to bundle up for the parade, climbing to the upper 30s, and it will be brisk. shoppers on friday, bundle up highs in the 30s and then a gradual climb back over the weekend. >> thank you david. tonight "dancing with the
