some yellow showing up to the west and south of philadelphia so there is slightly steadier stuff on the way. satellite and radar shows you that the wider view has a little bit of a chafer of snow in the upper elevations of west virginia and southern -- western pennsylvania. it's going to be a little while before we get there colder air in but eventually we are expecting a changeover to wet snow the. a winter storm warning is still in effect until 10 o'clock tonight in all those counties you see highlighted in pink. that includes northern bucks, northern montgomery and northern western chester county and points north. in these areas we expect the biggest impact to roads with the very least slushy road conditions and perhaps snow covered conditions later today and tonight. in the advisory area including philadelphia and trenton that is more of a wet road situation with some wet snow accumulating on grassy surfaces but for visibilities. precipitation type mainly snow in the north and west once we see the changeover after about 9, 10 o'clock this morning. rain eventually changing over to wet snow in the i-95 corridor and then mainly rain down to the south. and temperatures right now

obviously still way too mild for anything but rain even up in allentown we've climbed up to 43 degrees. in philadelphia the numbers have been dropping over the last couple of hours and we're down to 47, 45 down the shore. and as we head out the door to catch that school bus this morning looks like it's going to be wet with temperatures in the mid 40's at 6 o'clock, low 40's by 8:00 as the temperatures sink a little bit. cloudy skies with rain falling. and there's a test on patience on the way home today, kids as we are going to see wet snow across much of the region. temperatures in the 30's and pretty uncomfortable. those numbers by the way karen are philadelphia numbers in the northern and western suburbs it will be a bit cooler and more easily supporting that wet snow. when i step inside future tracker 6 shows you the changeover later on and when all this gets out of here. >> all right, so for now, dave it's just rain. roads are a bit damp out there on i-95 looking live approaching cottman here's your southbound traffic headed towards center city starting to see some building volume but no problems here on i-95. switching your camera view we'll watch the ramps first for any spots for slick conditions. right now it's just wet here

worse but the folks we've been speak to go here this morning are hoping they can get out of town before that happens. and you can see things are picking up here at u.s. airways portion of the airport. we're in terminal c. we're starting to see a light rain outside and there were problems arriving at airports on the east coast even before the day began. midnight last night airlines had already canceled more than 200 flights for today. nearly half of those cancellations were at newark and la guardia and because this is already such a busy day flights were already packed so there's just less wiggle room to accommodate the passengers whose flights get canceled. aaa says there are about 580,000 people in the philadelphia area traveling this thanksgiving. that's a 4% increase from last year. most of those people are going by car but however they're traveling, even with the storm coming, many will do whatever they can to get where they want to go this holiday season. >> i think one of the things about the thanksgiving holiday is people want to be with

as we take a look outside definitely looks kind of wet on the platt bridge in south philadelphia and currently way too mild for anything other than rain just as accuweather called. 47 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia. winds out of the northeast at nine. it will get more blustery today as that coastal low pressure system comes up and comes closer to us. right now it's pretty far down the southern coast. 7 o'clock this morning future tracker 6 showing that you it is raining basically everywhere. by 8 o'clock this is a new model run that's just in by the way, maybe a little bit of a wet snowflake here or there but even as late as 8 o'clock we're looking at basically rain. also a we get past 9 o'clock or 9:30 there is the chance that of cooler air beginning to come in and changes the rain over to wet snow in the northern and western suburbs and the latest run kind of keeps philadelphia out of the wet snow. the model may not be entirely right about that. i think that by 2 o'clock there's the possibility that we do get some wet snow right around here but i kind of like this picture because i've been telling you for the last couple days that even if we get wet snow in the i-95
6:10 am
corridor it's going to act like rain and go only on grassy surfaces and mainly just keep the roads wet. so, we'll probably get some wet snow but this is basically what it's going to act like. then we get later into the evening and some cold air wraps around to the west. we start getting more southerly areas with a little bit of snow and then it pulls out of here by 9 or 10 o'clock tonight's. it might lenger longer. the european model has about a coating to an inch in southern areas even south philadelphia. one to three from about center city on to the north and then three to three to six in the northern and western suburbs with allentown other cusp of the higher amount. i think the 12 is a little high but six plus possible in the poconos. the gfs is backing off and showing you a similar picture as to what you saw on future track with all of the snow staying to the north of philadelphia just a coating to an inch up to about allentown and then one to three around the lehigh valley. we do feel that what we're
6:11 am
going to get is a little bit higher. we're leaning more toward the euro but again in the i-95 corridor this is basically just grassy surface accumulation. but we will go one to three here, mainly rain to the south. the more you go up to northern and western suburbs, northwestern chester county and points north, 3 to 6 inches is possible and it's here where the roads could get slushy and could give us some problems. speaking of roads today mainly wet along i-95 turning slushy in some of those northern western suburbs and big wet snowflakes reducing visibilities this afternoon especially and maybe early this evening. in terms of impact for different of the region, its northern and westerns suburbs could be hardest hit. i-95 corridor we're beginning as rain, we turn to wet snow later but the slushy accumulation is mainly on grassy surfaces and then down the shore high wind gusts coming in off the ocean, a soaking rain but only a flake or two. tomorrow we dry out and it is cool. if you're head to the parade

that some more southern areas could briefly pick up a little bit of a snowflake. by 10 o'clock looks like it's all getting out of here up into the northern suburbs. what are we expecting? still calling for the potential for 1 to 3 inches accumulation on grassy surfaces in through here. but roads should remain wet in the immediate region. as you get up into the northern and western suburbs a three to 6-inch accumulation is possible and up here slushy roads in the least and maybe some snow covered roads especially up towards allentown and the poconos. allston right on the edge of a 6-inch plus bullet that we're going to get up to the north. what to expect on roads today. mainly wet along i-95 and close to philadelphia. turning slushy the in some of the northern and western suburbs, maybe snow covered the farther north you go and big wet snowflakes reducing visibilities. that is one thing you'll be dealing with in the i-95 corridor if we got the snow. might not stick to the roads but it will be tougher to see through. in the northern and western suburbs today and tonight the heaviest wet snow will be occurring there along with strong wind gusts. if enough of it piles up on bridges -- branches the wind
6:40 am
will blow through and possibly bring some branches down and that could lead to some power outage. again i think the northern and western suburbs have the best shot of that. as we take a look at today, cloudy skies, rain, wet snow, temperatures will sag into the 30's and hold there for most of the afternoon. you can see how between 11 o'clock and then straight through 5 o'clock we're basically in the upper 30's and that's too mild for any of this snow to stick to the roads but we could see the wet snow stick to grassy surfaces which will be cooler than asphalt. these numbers are for philadelphia. cooler up in the northern and western suburbs. but as matt mentioned for tomorrow the parade is drive. it's just chilly. wind chills in the upper 20's with temperatures climbing through the 30's tomorrow so bundle up if it's part of your tradition to join us at the 6abc dunkin' donuts thanksgiving day parade tomorrow. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, temperatures falling out of the 40's and then hovering in the 30's for most of the afternoon. we've got that rain changing over to wet snow. the farther north and west you go the worst driving will be. brisk and chilly then on thursday, a high of 40. 39 brisk and cold for shoppers
