5:39 am
on radar is really coming down is just kind of evaporating before it hits the surface but that evaporative cooling is also what could allow some sleet pellets to mix in in even in spots where the surface temperature is above freezing. winds out of the northeast. that's another big thing because yesterday they were out of the southwest pulling in the mild air. we don't have that today so it's a lot cooler and that pressure 30.55-inches. let's take a look right now at satellite 6 and action radar and we can see lots of clouds. again, it looks like precipitation really falling heavily. a lot of this just evaporating at this point but you get the idea. once the atmosphere moist tense we'll get intermittent showers through the area and even some mixing. as we look to the southwest you can see where you're getting mixing already happening and i think we'll see some of that through our region. so let's spell out the day ahead. by 8:00 a.m., 37. you can see some sleet pellets even in the city but just melting at the surface. 37 degrees with showers on and off. by 11:00 a.m., 38 with some showers. by 2:00 p.m., 41 degrees. it's going to be on and off,
5:40 am
not solid through the day. by 5:00 p.m., 39 and our high today is 42. looking at future tracker 6 we can advance this to 11 o'clock, you see those showers are in and out and it's mostly areas in the northwest that we're watching for some of that mixed precipitation in many spots it will just melt at the surface but you'll see it coming down. we advance this, this is at lunchtime, we still have rain here or there through the region with some mixing in the northwest suburbs but i think it's most especially in allentown and areas north where you can still see this happening. you see at 2 o'clock through most of the area we're just talking rain and it's in allentown and areas north you get some snow and sleet before changing over to range this is a look at 6 o'clock when you're driving through the area, we think even in your northwest suburbs it's going to be light rain at times on and off but especially in allentown and areas north that's where you have a little more concern. it all wraps out of here after midnight tonight. so let's look at the precipitation types. mostly just rain and areas philadelphia and south. maybe you see a couple sleet pellets mixing in in
5:41 am
philadelphia but it will melt at the surface. immediate northwest suburbs we could have a mix changing over pretty quickly to rain and again melting at the surface. but in allentown and areas north i think that's the main area of concern and your best chance to see some of that slushy coating kind of happening so we're watching for that and through the afternoon and evening it could be slippery there. here's what you can expect over the next 24 hours. some on and off showers, a mix northwest changing to rain so in philadelphia north and west maybe a quick mix before it changes to rain but it will melt at the surface. the minor issues in the far northwest as we saw in allentown and areas north where it could be sustained a little bit of icing but it's mild overnight and that's key. so in the overnight hours we're talking about temperatures in the 40's so we're not really concerned about slipping overnight. here's a look at your exclusive accuweather seven day. rain and wintry mix in the northwest, 42 degrees for your high. it will be on and off. it's very light and most of it not even reaching ground right now. much milder tomorrow, 55 degrees for your high with a few showers. on thursday it's partly sunny
