for a westchester university student that has been missing for nearly a week. and a former nfl star fights for his right to return to the grid iron. >> but the big story is a drastic change in our weather, we dropped 20 degrees in just 24 hours. old man winter decided to make a return to the delaware and lehigh valley. sky 6 hd looking at atlantic city where it's been raining most of the day. but now lets look at the camden skyline, can you see penn's landing in the foreground, it's just as dreary here in the city, some of us will see theintry weather. meteorologist, karen rogers is at the big board. >> we are looking at stormtracker 6 live double scan radar. and yes, we are seeing the white

stuff, it's light in parts of the region, in philadelphia and parts south and east we have light rain. we have temperatures yesterday of 70 degrees and now light rainfall. let me show you sky 6 hd, some areas are getting mixed precipitation near lancaster and sleeting in reading, light flurries as well as allentown, more west of allentown, that is where you have the best chance of it turning to sleet and icy situations. we had a little bit of sleet earlier in the city as well. lets look at the winter weather advisory for the area, berks and lehigh counties, until 10:00 tonight. for the snow and sleet that eventually turns to rain. in philadelphia for the most

part it is rain. in the north western suburbs, mixed precipitation, some changing over to rain and just melting on the surface, because it has been so mild the past couple of days, but continuing in allentown and areas north. we think we could see icing there and that could be slippery in spots. our viewers sent in pictures, this one from philabundance, it didn't dampen the spirits. here is the sleet that connected there on some of the outdoor furniture, even in that area, we see the precipitation that turns to sleet. what is in for for the rest of the day coming up in a few minutes. >> lets switch live now to walter perez in allentown, we see some flakes are flying. >> it's snowing here in allentown and we spoke with

penndot officials that this one is tricky and it doesn't seem like this weather event will produce anything plowable and they don't believe it makes sense to brine the roads in advance because if it rains more as expected the salt will wash away. so the tricky part is when to salt. as usual it comes down to where you live, with realistic concerns focusing on areas north and west of our region. >> the crews went on early shifts this morning and that means they will be ready to go when it ices out and we'll try to lay material and keep the roads from icing up and keep it as safe as possible on the roadways. once again the winter weather advisorys posted for berks and lehigh and western counties. reporting live from allentown, walter perez, channel 6 "action

"action news" learned all three row homes were vacant and no word on what sparked the fire. >> at least one person was hurt in an early morning fire here in philadelphia. flames poured out of the home in the 2900 block of north 29th street as firefighters battled

the blaze at 1:15 this morning, the first and second floors of the home were engulfed when firefighters arrived. one person was taken to temple university hospital for treatment we are told and no word on what may have sparked this blaze as well. meantime the search continues for a driver that struck a man on a west philadelphia street and took off. the victim is hospitalized in critical condition with head and neck injuries, david murphy is joining us at the scene with details on the investigation. >> reporter: this is where it happened at the intersection of 59th and market, the car was coming south, when it did it ran down the man crossing the street and you can see one of his shoes lying in the street overthere. this was the scene shortly before 9:00, a volvo station wagon barrelled through the

intersection and hit a young man, he received head and neck injuries and remains in critical condition now. the car just kept ongoing, they don't know who the victim is and he had no i.d. on him and no one has come forward reporting a missing person. he appears to be in his mid-20s, they believe the volvo station wagon was silver but are not entirely sure of the color. the police were back looking for video surveillance cameras that may have captured an image of the car, they hope that the public can help identify the victim and locate the car, if you know someone with a volvo station wagon with unexplained damage this morning, police want you to call 911 right away. >> okay thank you. >> the search for 21-year-old shane montgomery continues this afternoon. there is still no sign of the

westchester university student. the fbi is broadcasting his picture on more than 30 digital billboards across the region, the reward for information leading to his whereabouts is $25,000. montgomery disappeared early wednesday morning. hundreds of volunteers are helping in the search for him. and now they think the possibility of a lehigh mother of three was sexually abused after her murder. her stepfather, 53-year-old gregory robert graf is charged with her murder. pageant was missing a week before her body was found. he is accused of hitting her in the back.

we have breaking news this noon from the state of washington where police in suburban seattle where police have surrounded this sporting goods store. they responded to a call for a robbery, and someone had smashed a vehicle into the security grates to get inside. currently a robot is going through the store searching for the suspect. this store sells guns and ammunition, so police are taking no chances. we'll continue to follow this

story out of the seattle area and bring you new information as we get it. overseas, there has been a security shakeup in kenya followed by deadly attacks from islamic extremists from nearby somalia. and kenya's president has fired the interior minister and septembered the resignation of his police chief. officials in beirut says the lebanese army detained the wife and son of the extremist leader. his wife and son were arrested while crossing the border from syria, the wife was carrying a fake i.d. president obama has announced a new task force to

meteorologist, karen rogers is here now with a closer look at this wintry weather. >> i prefer yesterday's weather. a big change today. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing that we have not only rain, south and east of philadelphia mostly but even a little bit of light snowfall. it's all very light, there is a lot of evaporating going on and nonetheless, there are flurries, you can see the areas of blue in lancaster now and mixed precipitation and sleet coming down, and it's melting on the roadways and it's been mild, you can see it heading through reading and sleeting in philadelphia and allentown

flurries, as walter perez has been talking about as well. lets go outside, lets see what it looks like now, sky 6 hd looking live at a wet runway at philadelphia international airport, we have not had much precipitation, 35 in philadelphia, but look at the dew point 29 degrees, the air is not nearly saturated. what we see on the radar is evaporating before it hits the ground. the wind 9 miles per hour and the pressure 30.55 inches. we are above freezing in philadelphia but we had the sleet colling down and 37 in wilmington and just barely above freezing in reading and sitting at the freezing mark in lancaster, meltding at the surface and you see the flakes coming down there. 28 degrees colder, 30 degrees coldner millville and dover, that is a huge change in dover,

that is one powerful cold front that swept through. satellite 6 along with action radar showing a couple of things, the precipitation is moving in and not coming down as heavy as you might think because of all the evaporating, but it's pretty light and intermittent. but it will last a while. future tracker 6 showing that 5:30 in the evening, people are getting ready to drive and some showers around and sleeting in spots especially far to the northwest. we advance this until 7:00, and we stay above freezing in the overnight hours, well above freezing, allentown at 7:00, just some light rain in the poconos, that is when you get the continued icing, at 9:00, the rain might pick up a little bit and still above freezing when it exits at 1:00 a.m. and one more batch of showers coming in early tomorrow morning at 7:30, the sleeting an area of

and west of allentown where you are getting the snowfall steadily out there. the national weather service has tractor trailer advisory posted for tonight, for lehigh, and northampton and berks. the temperatures will rise later on tonight and it will change to rain everywhere. this is what we are seeing here, mostly rain in philadelphia, and the area of blue, your immediate northwest suburbs, a mix changing over to rain, that is why we see the mix in lancaster and we saw sleet in philadelphia earlier. and areas north we have light snowfall and a mix we are concerned about, it's a more extended period in the northwest. i want to show you the pictures, we love when viewers send us pictures, this is linda in mullica hill, you see the sleet landing on the surface on the

police are searching for the driver of a volvo that struck a man in philadelphia. it happened at 59th and market streets, the volvo station wagon hit the man while he was crossing the street and the man was brought to the university of pennsylvania with head and other internal injuries, is he in critical condition. a man shot in the stomach is in critical condition today, it happened last night in philadelphia's strawberry mansion section. the victim was taken to philadelphia university hospital. new details this noon about the murder of a lehigh valley mother of three. the body of jessica padgett was found on the property owned by her mother and stepfather. graf confessed to shooting his

top of the hour. in washington, police in suburban seattle where police have surrounded a sporting goods store. someone smashed a vehicle into the security gates to get inside and that suspect we are told is still inside of that store in buron, washington, outside of seattle. tactical units responded with an armored vehicle and a robot is going through the building looking for the suspect. the store sells guns and ammunition and police are taking no chances. we'll follow the story and we'll bring you new information as we get it. a delaware man has been cited for an inattentive driving for an accident that damaged townhomes, they say that he

the government wants to know if greco delayed the recall when it found out about the problem with the seat harness buckles. greco recalled more than 6 million of the seats earlier this year and regulators say it was the largest car seat recall

with temperatures in the mid-60s, but we warned you. here is stormtracker 6 live double scan we have light showers and it looks heavier than it is. but light showers in south jersey and delaware now, that indicates a mixed precipitation and snow. lets go in closer, sleet in lancaster, it's melting at the surface because we have been so mild. near reading a few flurries and sleet pellets mixing in and now a drizzle drop or two out there. allentown flurries and especially north and west of allentown. that is where we see the light snowfall. chopper 6 was doing a flyin and doesn't that look miserable. lots of clouds and it's damp and we have worse looking out over the delaware, 36 degrees, temperatures well above freezing, the dew point has climbed a little bit and the problem all morning is that it looked like it was raining on

the radar but it was evaporating and now we moisten up the atmosphere and rain is falling more in spots. winds out of the east at 13 miles per hour. today it's the chilly air and the pressure 30.55 inches, temperatures around the region and upper 30s along the coastline and 36 in the city and 31 in lancaster, and you are hovering around the freezing mark in the northwest, are you getting sleet there right now, compare this to yesterday, it's nearly 30 degrees colder now than it was at this point yesterday. 32 degrees colder, at the coastline, what a huge change, the cold front moves through and the cold air here and you know what happens when the precipitation moves in, satellite 6 along with action radar and some of the precipitation is mixing through the area especially in the northwest, and then breaks, with some spotty showers and sleet pellets, before later on tonight and another round coming. this is future tracker 6, this

is 6:00, some people are driving and it's not too bad, it's up north of allentown when you get the mixed precipitation and temperatures are rising not dropping late tonight. at 7:30 be see clouds and heavier rain from the west, it looks like that comes in later tonight and wraps up in the overnight hour and one more shower comes sneaking in early tomorrow morning temperatures staying in the 40s. the only area we see the snow and sleet that is a concern is north of reading and allentown and that area is up north and you can get a coating with that ice, we see the light showers on and off and a mix in the northwest and changing to rain and minor issues in the northwest and importantly staying mild overnight. here is your accuweather forecast, rain and a wintry mix in the northwest and milder tomorrow and 55 with showers, thursday is dry, and partly sunny and 46, friday it's damp and dreary once again and 48
