weekend begins. that rain is already moving in, chris sowers has the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> reporter: this will probably be the dryest part of the day. let's go live on sky 6. it will be a miserable start to the weekend. the second half of the weekend doesn't look that bad. we'll see a breeze and decent amount of sunshine. there's the view the center city skyline. we have patchy fog and drizzle and showers north and west, but temperatures are on the mild side. this is key. this time around this will not be snow because the numbers are way too warm. 36 degrees in allentown. 33 in the poconos. the higher elevations. everything up there, looking at above freezing temperatures, 42 in wilmington, millville, 44. sea isle city, 47. again we'll see liquid precipitation, no frozen stuff. showers overspreading the area, southwest to northeast. we extend out into the ohio

to the flames. 3 adults and two teens made it out unharmed, the fire is under control. the red cross is helping the five people displaced. no word on what sparked the fire. on the way to the call, a fire chief was involved in a crash, the car ran a stop sign and hit the chief on atlantic avenue. the laptop hit the chief in the chest. a woman faces the summons for running the stop sign and driving without a license. new this morning, a taxi carrying a passenger careens off i-95 and the driver says this was no accident. the taxi ended up in a marsh along the northbound labels in up land, delaware county. the driver said he was run off the road by a tractor-trailer that never stopped. state police are looking into the claim. the driver and passenger were

taken to chester-crozer medical center. both are expected to be okay. the search is on for a gunman in a late-night shooting in chester. the victim was rushed to crozer-chester, who pulled the trigger and why is still under investigation. philadelphia police are trying to figure out who opened fire on a man driving down the 1500 block of south cleveland street. witnesses say the 46-year-old man was going southbound when someone opened fire. the man was hit 14 times before crashing his car into the front stoop of a home. he was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead. investigators don't have think the attack is random and questioned the witnesses in the suiting. philadelphia-based rapper, is in critical condition after being shot outside his home in atlantic county. he was hit in the stomach yesterday after he dropped his

children off at school. despite prior rushes with gun violence, he was not the intended victim. search efforts continue this weekend for shane montgomery, the 21-year-old college student has been missing for a week 1/2 and there is no trace of him. family friends and volunteers expanded their search to south street. sharrie williams has the latest. >> reporter: with flyers and tape in hand, family, friends and volunteers expanded their efforts to find shane montgomery. >> there's one kid who thinks they may know something or seen something. >> reporter: until now the search focused mainly in manayunk where the 21-year-old was last scene. he disappeared before leaving kildare's tuesday morning. >> we hope this is the day to find him. >> reporter: but the search has taken on a new approach.

dozens of volunteers hit the streets and posted flyers where the young college groups hang out, not just in manayunk, but in bars and lounges in center city and south street and college campuses. now this, asking people to check their cell phones for any selfies they may have taken while they were out wednesday into thanksgiving. >> if you took any selfies look in the background and see if you have a picture of shane that the police can take and pinpoint a time. >> reporter: st. john church in manayunk is headquarters for the search. volunteers continue to crank out pictures with shane's pictures, his facebook page continues to grow. >> we holding up, things that get us up out of bed every day,

we're on mission to find shane and well we will. >> police and fbi task force are pressing on with their search efforts that is requesting surveillance videos from businesses and private owners. the reward is up to $40,000. >> breaking news, american hostage, luke somers is dead. his sister said he was killed in a failed rescue attempt in yemen. she said the fbi delivered the heartbreaking news overnight. somers was born in england, but carried american citizenship. he was captured while working as a photo journalist. drone strikes killed 9 al qaeda militants in yemen. a man is behind bars for stabbing four people on a packed amtrak train in michigan. police say the attacker was

agitated and traveling alone. the conductor called security in chicago where the train left from. before the train stopped and local police arrived, the suspect was stabbing an orderly gentleman in the chest, an amtrak employee and two other passengers were stabbed. police tasered the suspect and took him in for questioning. 172 passengers were put on another train. >> the family of a 12-year-old who was shot and killed by cleveland police is suing the city and two officers involved. tamir riles had a pellet gun on october 22. he died the next day, the police say the officer thought he had a real firearm. police say the orange cap on the front of the gun that signifies it was a toy has been removed. the suit said the officers acted recklessly and claims there was

a delay in providing medical assistance. voices he can -- echoed in the missouri capitol as protesters called for change. this is the naacp journey for justice, after michael brown was shot and killed by a white police officer. the protesters say they are demanding an end to racial profile and police misconduct. >> the past few nights, protesters in new york city shut down streets, bridges and tunnels. they are demonstrating against a grand jury decision to not indict a white police officer in the death of eric garner. larvelt hundreds of people march and many briefly laid down in mace at flagship store and grand central terminal and an apple

school. this was the scene of a science leadership academy in center city. the students joined the nationwide movement that's criticizing the handling of garner's case. students tell "action news" they were moved to take action. >> i felt like i had to do something, i had to be part of the movement to show this is not right and texted jamie we have to have a dye-in in our school. >> these are foaforts from -- photos from a dye-in from masterman high school. all the protests were peaceful. philadelphia parking authority said it's trying to fix a problem with its kiosks in center city. anyone paying on the streets will have to use cash, because the machines are unable to use credit cards, coins and dollar bills are accepted. an alternative to surgery

delaware. >> reporter: annie has scoliosis, she got hers at shriners and she is back for her second adjustment. the doctor activates them with remote control. the rod are lengthen about a quarter of an inch every 3 months, a small amount close to the way the kids grow. >> she doesn't have to be put to sleep, she is just sitting there. it's so much better. >> reporter: they don't feel the change and the doctors say there haven't been any infections or serious problems with magic. as children grow they will need surgery to get longer magic rod, but the overall number of operations is reduced from 20 to 4. the system is for kids with severe scoliosis who are still growing. the children's hospital of philadelphia is using the
