>> good morning, 7:00 a.m. on this saturday, december 6 here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." philadelphia police are investigating a deadly accident involving a pedestrian on the boulevard overnight. a final farewell today for three children killed by their mother inside a home in the new jersey pinelands. it's a soggy start to the weekend, will it be a complete washout? , the man with the answers is outside with a look ahead at the accuweather forecast. nobody knows, right, chris? >> reporter: my answer is sort of. we'll see patchy drizzle throughout the morning hours and steady soaking rain this afternoon. satellite and degree of care showing showers up in

woodbine 45 degrees, one out of two ain't bad we'll see a dreary start to the weekend. return of sunshine for sunday, but we'll deal with the gusty winds as strong as 30 to 40 miles per hour, that will create windchills in the 30s for the eagles game, 4:25 start. when i step back inside we'll talk about that and the coastal threat for tuesday. eva? >> new this morning, a man is dead after being hit by a car on the boulevard. police spent the night talking to the driver that hit him. the 44-year-old man was hit this morning while crossing the outer lanes of the boulevard. the man was killed instantly. police have tested the driver for driving under the influence, so far no arrests or charges in the accident. a deadly hit-and-run is unsolved in bridgeport, montgomery county. a man was hit by two suvs. le a ford explorer similar to

this was the if irs vehicle involved, that driver stopped for a moment at the scene near east atlantic -- and ford street. the cadillac suv hit the victim. one car was involved in two accidents just minutes apart. the car hit the concrete barrier on i-95 by the delaware avenue exit. two men got out of the car, not long after that, another vehicle plowed into the disabled car. the two men and other driver are seriously injured they are being treat the at hanheman hospital. a montgomery county woman is behind bars after setting her neighbor's home on fire. that neighbor is a police detective and authorities say it's not the first time the

woman lashed out at him. >> reporter: half of admonishes drive in lower pottstown grove is ready for christmas. this fire was intentionally set by this woman, his next-door neighbor. state police say she was caught on tape. >> is they took a long expanded grill litter and lights the ornaments on fire. >> reporter: the detective installed security cameras before leaving for a two week trip to disney world with his family after he suspected her of vandalizing his suv. she believed he was responsible for the on going incarceration of her son who had issues with drug abuse and run-ins with the law. >> we're glad we don't have to worry about a serial arsonist.

>> reporter: the neighbor was the first to call 911, after her dog sadie woke up the family. >> reporter: around 2:20 she started barking again, and he went downstairs, and saw like an orange glow in our front window and he ran told me to call 911. >> it's an up setting beginning to the holidays, but some are lucky that sadie barked when she did from preventing the fire from spreading to more homes. the neighbor has been charged with arson and her bail has been set at $1 million. mourners will gather in tabernacle new jersey to say goodbye to three children allegedly shot to death by their own mother. funerals will be held for the nicholas, alexander and nadia.

the mother died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. the search continues this morning for 21-year-old shane montgomery, volunteers fanned out along south street in south philadelphia to distribute flyers about the missing west chester university student. they stopped by bars in manayunk. montgomery was last seen leaving kildare's early thanksgiving morning. 43-year-old michael oliver is behind bars on a million dollars bail charged with the beating death of a 4-year-old girl. authorities in salem county say oliver was caring for the child and three others at the home on south broad street when the girl went into cardiac arrest. authorities say she suffered massive blunt-force trauma. a drunken driver who killed and hit two teenage cousins in

south jersey will spent the next 18 years in prison. he admitted he was impaired and texted when he hit the cousins back 2012. the victim's family spoke during an emotional sentencing in cape may courthouse yesterday. >> i forgive you. she accused marv albert of sexual assault in 1977. 17 women cooled cosby of sexual misconduct. he has not been charged in any case. chris christie has been cleared of the so-called bridgegate scandal. they found no evidence that christy was aware of closures on george washington bridge that caused major gridlock. there were allegations that he closed the bridge lanes in an act of political retribution. trump taj mahal has pushed back the scheduled closing date for the casino. the owner has been negotiating with union officials to keep the casino open. the new date is december 20th. if it closes it will be the 5th of the 12 casinos to shut

its doors. a burlington county catholic school is on the version of closing its doors after a century of serving the community. st. paul burlington was start in 1870 and has 164 students from prekindergarten to 8th straight. the push is on to raise 250,000 by january 15th. >> it's devastating to know this could happen, but i think we could do it, because there's so many people who love this school. >> many other schools have raised way more than that in like two weeks, so i have faith and hope that we can do it. >> now, if the school real estate races all the money will be a temporary reprieve, they will have to do the same thing next year and every year to keep it open. still ahead, from the baseball diamond to the hard court, "action news" was there

the western suburbs are 37 to 38 degrees. the icing is well up here, this is towards saranac lake, new hampshire is up here. that's the rainstorm accuweather expects periods of rain and some of it will be heavy at times, lots of ponding on the roads, the heaviest developing after lunchtime, 12 or 1:00, from that point on, it's a steady, soaking rain. we get into sunday, this high bumbles the low out to sea -- bumps the low out to sea, but the pressure difference between the two creates the wind tunnel effect. we'll see winds at 20 to 30 miles per hour. and we'll see sun, but the wind will make it feel like the low to mid 30s. monday, all eyes focusing on this storm down south this is our coastal storm tuesday, that could bring periods of rain once again and strong gusty winds. 2:00 p.m., you can see the

steadier rains southwest to northeast. from that point on that's how the rest of the day will pan out. periods of rain, some of it heavy. we'll see the rain up to 9:00, 10:00. tomorrow morning we'll see sunshine out there. rainfall totals range anywhere from half inch to an inch when all is said and done. it's a steady, soaking rain, no flooding issues out there, but with that said, there could ponding on the roadways. tuesday, the only issue that we face with this is the high that we have tomorrow, will sit and stall off the coast of maine. that comes up the coast and hit the high and has nowhere to go. it could be a 24 hour event of soaking rains and winds. the coastal is looking like rain, no snow. maybe the poconos that's about

while responding to the scene. a taxi driver and his passenger are hurt after crashing on i-95 and landing in some bushes. plus, we're tracking rain across the delaware and lehigh valleys, as the weekend begins. chris sowers is outside it's kind of spotty rain right now. >> reporter: we've seen better days, we have patchy drizzle on the terrace. steady rain is quienld well north an -- confined well north and west of the city. 80% of the area not reporting rain. you have to go into berks and lehigh valley to pick up any shower activity and a lot of that racing off to the northeast about 20 to 25 miles per hour. however, with that said as you look farther toward the west, the left-hand side of the screen, note all the moisture coming out of the appalachian states. there's an area of low pressure north of charleston. you can see that with the yellows. as that starts to pull east you can see the radars start to fill

in the next couple of hours, it's that batch of moisture that will bring a miserable start to the weekend. we'll see periods of rain and some of it will come heavily at times. most locations are above five miles, but the far western suburbs where they are report going -- reporting the rain that's where the visibility is reduced. allentown, 4 miles. poconos.3. allentown, above freezing, 36, millville, 45. we're shooting for a high of 54 degrees, 6 degrees above average when all is said and done. once we get past lunchtime, that's when the steadier rain moves in. tomorrow looks better, we'll see the return of sunshine, but if it's not one thing it's the next, we won't be dealing with the rains, but the icy windchills and the gusty winds. we could see gusts as high as 40 miles per hour in parts of the area. i'll focus on that when i step back inside in just a few

minutes and we'll have another look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> fire broke out in the row home sending five people out into the cold night air and it is a close call for the fire chief before he got to the blaze. smoke spread through the home on jasper street in port richmond section.read through the home on home was vacant, but smoke forced a family of five outside. the red cross is helping them with temporary housing. no word on what sparked that fire. on the way to the call, a fire chief was involved in a crash, police say a car ran a stop sign and hit the chief's suv on east atlantic avenue two blocks from the home on fire. a laptop hit the chief in the chest, but he refused medical attention. the woman driving the car was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. she faces a summons for running the stop sign and driving without a license. new this morning, a taxi carrying a passenger careens off i-95 and the driver says this

was no accident. the taxi ended you mean in a marsh in the northbound bound lanes of up land, delaware county. the driver said he was run off the road by a tractor-trailer that never stopped. the driver and passenger were taken to crozer-chester medical center, both are expected to be okay. new this morning, the search is on for a gunman in a late night shooting in chester. one person was gunned down near the intersection of west carla lane and west 1th street. the victim was rushed to crozer-chester. who pulled the trigger and why is under investigation. search efforts continue this weekend for shane montgomery, the college student has been missing for a week and half now and there's no trace of him. last night, family and friends and volunteers expanded their search to south street. sharrie williams has the latest. >> reporter: with flyers and tape in hand, family, friends and volunteers expanded their

he said somers was the victim of a barbaric murder in a failed rescue attempt in yemen. another non-u.s. citizen was killed. the president ordered the raid by special operations troops because it was believe his life was in danger. a yemeni official said he believed somers would be killed. he was killed in yemen's capitol while working as a photo journalist.
