roads tomorrow. meteorologist cecily tynan is at the "action news" big board with the latest from storm tracker 6 double scan. >> storm tracker 6 live double scan showing we have a developing system off the coast of the carolinas. you look at it right now it doesn't look like much but this low pressure is just getting its act together. it has been bringing in an easterly flow that's caused coastal flood at the jersey shore and even some ocean effect snow showers. a wider view showing that while this low pressure is off the carolina coast there's a piece of upper level energy moving across the midwest and that really has a lot of impact. because what this will do is join forces with that low pressure, intensify it and then roll it up the eastern seaboard very slowly. so, this will be a long duration event and this will be mainly a rain events for the i-95 corridor and areas to the east. so, a flood watch has been posted for tomorrow. we're looking at generally 1 to 3 inches of rain, the heaviest will be areas closest to the east and this likely will cause some localized

flooding even the possibility of stream flooding. also there is some cold air at the onset with this system, so the national weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for lancaster, berks county and lehigh valley from 7 o'clock tonight until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning. as that moisture initially moves it in it will bring a brief period of icing tonight for these locations so this is something you really have to be wary of and there is a winter storm warning in:for the poconos. the poconos could get more than 6-inches of rain and some ice with this system and there's another element, the winds. the winds along the shore up to 40 to 50 miles per hour causing some more coastal flooding. more details on this system and what to expect where you live coming up in the full accuweather forecast. monica. >> thank you cecily. of course follow the impact of this nor'easter on 6abc.com/weather. we will be updating current conditions as the storm hits. and storm tracker 6 radar will show you the path of the wet weather. we'll also keep you up to date

"action news" reporter david henry is live tonight at police headquarters with the latest on the investigation. david. >> reporter: yeah, rick, homicide detectives here don't have much to go on tonight. what they do is a sunshines motive no suspects and multiple possible motives. >> he definitely was not the kind of guy that deserved that. >> reporter: the 69-year-old victim was well liked by customers and managers of locker room self storage on south 62nd street. we're not naming him until police are able to notify his

family. they were called to the facility around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. the victim was found in a vehicle on the parking lot proper. it was a brutal murder. >> he had sustained severe trauma to his head. he was pronounced dead at the seen. >> reporter: the victim worked as a night watchman. the last time they saw him alive was around 3 o'clock saturday afternoon. a manager discovered the body 24 hours later. police say the victim had been living for years in a conversion van. that van was found smashed into the fence. the victim was found in a different van on the property. police don't know if he interrupted a robbery or some other illegal activity or if he had been targeted by someone. over the years, he won the respect of the customers. >> very nice, intelligent gentleman, spoke nicely, treated customers with respect. >> reporter: the vicious nature of the murder indicates it might have been personal. those who knew the victim can't imagine any one wanting

to harm him. >> nice person. i just feel so bad 'cause he's such -- he was such a beautiful person. >> reporter: now, the police are still trying to track down the victim's family and they are tracking down video surveillance from the area that they hope will help them identify the killer. live at police headquarters, david henry, channel6 "action news." monica. >> all right david thanks. a man who was hit by a car on i-95 while helping another crash victim is recovering now in intensive care. daniel calaway was on his way to work yesterday when he stopped to help somebody involved in a wreck along i-95 in tinicum township delaware county an suv then hit the car that was involved in the first accident and that car hit calaway. his father tells "action news" today his son who is a long time volunteer firefighter is doing much better. he is now awake and alert after undergoing surgery yesterday. now to the demonstrations happening around the utz.

it has now been six days since a grand jury decided no to the indict an nypd officer in connection with the death of eric garner. protesters continue to take the streets to voice their outrage in that case as well as the case of michael brown in ferguson, missouri. well, this was the scene outside today at the u.s. capital in washington, d.c. dozens carried signs to protest the death of black men across the country who died at the hands of police officers. and over the weekend several pro athletes used their t-shirts to show their support for eric garner's family. the words i can't breathe were worn by chicago bulls guard derek rose detroit lions running back reggie bush and nigerian soccer star anthony uja. those three words were heard being said by garner before he died. the i can't breathe statement has become a rallying cry for supporters of garner. back here in philadelphia, faith leaders organized a die-in outside of the eagles

game sunday. the peaceful demonstration did attract critics who questioned the timing and tonight a school guidance counselor is off the job for allegedly threatening the protesters in an online post. "action news" reporter walter perez covering this story for us tonight. he's live outside of central bucks west high school with that story. walter. >> reporter: well, sharrie, that facebook post was a threat to shoot the protesters who gathered outside the linc yesterday and now that guidance counselor has been suspended and this case has been handed over to the d.a.'s office. there was plenty of emotion to go around during the five minute die-in demonstration near the linc following yesterday's game. but it was one social media post in particular that is at tracking a lot of attention. it came under the account of mary kate blankenburg a guidance counselor at central bucks west high school. it read if my child cannot get to the eagles game due to protesters i will personally shoot every one of them. you have been warned idiotsly

we spoke with central bucks parents who say it's nothing short of unacceptable. >> i personally think she should get fired. nobody should talk like that especially a teacher. >> frankly it was a bad choice of judgment and you know it's a little bit further because it's a teacher and they are representatives of the community and the children look up to them. >> reporter: central bucks school superintendent dr. david weitzel issued a statement today reading in part "responding with urgency and concern we immediately began an investigation including verification of the source and we will take appropriate action once we learn all the facts." the 37-year-old guidance counselor has already been placed on paid administrative leave and the district attorney's office has launched a formal investigation. we went to speak with her at her home in lansdale but nobody answered the door. now no one we spoke with believes this facebook post constitute add real threat but most agreed that this is a prime example of how venting your feelings on social media can come back to bite you.

can make a big difference. also cutting out certain foods such as chocolate and fatty foods can help. over the counter prescription drugs can can also be given. and in other news today, battling cancer can take a toll on both the body and the mind. that's why many cancer centers have programs to help lift patients' spirits. one local center is getting help from our four legged friends. it's a weekday afternoon at penn's roberts proton therapy center and the pet therapist is in. cally, a two year old labradoodle and her owner 57 year old kim are always ready to greet patients. two years ago kim was a patient herself finishing treatment for her second bout of pancreatic cancer. her daughter and son-in-law originally got cally as their dog but she was kim's frequent companion during her recovery. >> i'm on doggie day care i call it. so, cally and i bonded.

she was loving, she was ing. >> reporter: she got certified as a pet therapy dog and volunteer at the roberts center. >> i remember how stressful it was being here and how, you know, uncertain it is when you're in here. >> reporter: in just a few weeks they've had quite an impact. cally is a natural with children and she opens communication with adults, too. >> cally's the ice breaker. they will pet her. >> i say to them maybe i'll say to them well i was here two years ago. >> i think patients can see you know what, when i'm through this i can actually get back to real life an normal life which is really important. >> reporter: even staffers who deal with cancer day in and day out need the emotional lift cally can provide. >> a lot of times the simplest things really make a difference. >> reporter: kim says seeing the smiles cally brings and being able to give back to those who treated her gives her a big boost.

except we did have some snow showers at the shore, ocean effect snow showers, winds off the ocean but it is cold. philadelphia it's 32 degrees in allentown 28. wilmington 33. millville 34. and the boardwalk in atlantic city can currently 37 degrees. future tracker showing we have a nor'easter that is just beginning to get its act together. doesn't look like much now but this will be energized by upper level low tonight that will be diving in and this will bring us some rain early tomorrow morning by about 2 o'clock you can see the moisture is developing in our far north and west suburbs some of this will likely start as some icing before some warmer air gets drawn in and this will bring us some real heavy rain tomorrow. future tracker showing 7:30 tomorrow morning allow plenty of extra time for your morning commute. watch "action news" beginning at 4:00 because this will cause problems for the morning commute. by 3:30 it's still wet. however, you notice that the bulk of the heaviest rain will be pushing north of our region but we're looking at about eight to 10 hours of some

heavy rain so future tracker showing that we're looking at generally 1 to 3 inches of rain, could cause some localized flooding and some of that moisture will be coming in the form of snow in the poconos. the poconos really seeing the most of the wintry weather with this system. we're looking at 3 to 6 inches of snow with some icing. so, tonight and tomorrow will not be a good time to travel up to the poconos. closer to home the northwestern suburbs including parts of lancaster, near reading, allentown, lehigh valley, brief ice before that does change over to rain during the day tomorrow. wants to show you what's been going on at the shore, though. this was sent in by suzanne ocean city new jersey, this is 36 and bay and you can see that flooding and the coastal flooding will intensify tomorrow so a coastal flood warning has been posted really from seaside heights all the way south of rehoboth for moderate tidal flooding along the shore and the back bays there will be some pretty significant flooding.

the shore is going to be taking this on the chin. we're looking after wind gusts 40 to 50 miles an hour. wind advisory posted. waves 10 to 15 feet and this will cause beach erosion. that will be wiping out a lot of that sand unfortunately. the call from accuweather tonight temperatures rising. philadelphia rain arriving in the far north and west suburbs, icing at first and then changing all over to rain and the five day at 5:00 shows tomorrow pretty nasty day. windy and rainy and very raw, 41 degrees, a high as that storm system pulls outer we'll get colder air moving in on wednesday bringing us snow showers, 39 degrees. some flurries lingering thursday as well. friday and saturday the sunshine returns, temperature in the 40's. will we stay dry for the second half of the weekend? melissa magee will be will talk about that in the accuweather 7-day forecast. the next two days really not looking very nice. >> going to be rough. >> coming up next in our next half hour of "action news" at 5:00 two raging fires a short distance apart keep los

williams and monica malpass. >> hello again. here's what's happening on "action news" monday night. the search is on for two masked men who terrorized a clerk during an armed holdup in montgomery county. we've got the latest. the white house says it's ready for the backlash of the most anticipated report on the cia's interrogation practices and after three days of headaches the glitch with philadelphia parking kiosks is apparently fixed. >> now to the details police in montgomery county want your help identifying two men responsible for a brazen holdup of a plymouth meeting convenience store. it happened late last tuesday night at the liberty gas station on butler pike. one man flashed a handgun as he escort add terrified clerk to the back of that store. "action news" reporter chad pradelli live in plymouth township with more. chad. >> reporter: hey, man could. the plymouth auto and tire center here was robbed on tuesday neither at 11 o'clock and according to investigators here in plymouth township, the two suspects may be responsible for another violent armed robbery in chester county.

now, authorities want you to take a close look at this surveillance video so they can apprehend these two suspects. the thieves were first captured on an exterior camera. they waited then quickly walked in to the plymouth auto and tire center. a lone employee was inside. one suspect shoved a gun to his stomach. they then forced him to open the register as one thief forces the employee to a bathroom, his partner loots the place of money and cigarettes. >> i've been here 20 years. nothing like this has ever happened to us before. these aren't employees, these are like my family and in some cases they are my family because i have family members who work for me. i take this perth. >> reporter: owner al torcini put up a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the two bandits. the robbery has forced him to close at 10:00 p.m. instead of midnight. his employee while shaken is doing well. >> thankfully he's fine. he's a trooper. he did everything right and he's doing fine. >> reporter: police say the

two thieves wore similar outfits and when not robbing they may work together at a legitimate business. plymouth detectives want you to take a close look at this surveillance video, especially this suspect. >> you'll see that it's a wide broad nose and i also believe that the key may be in the clothes that they're wearing, that they're wearing black shoes, they're wearing khaki pants with belts. >> reporter: and police say those two suspects ran from the auto center there to this residential neighborhood jumped in a vehicle and got away. right now detectives are working with authorities in chester county to get a better idea of the make and model of that vehicle. i'm live in plymouth township, chad pradelli channel6 "action news." >> thank you, chad. philadelphia police also trying to solve a burglary last tuesday. the burglar broke in the front door of a grocery here at 61st and elmwood at 5:30 a.m., then strolled through the store stealing items. he took cigarettes cleaned out the cash register then casually walked out. detectives say he's tall with

a thin beard and appears to have tattoos on his hands. >> several hundred firefighters battled two raging blazes in los angeles overnight. and amazingly, no one was seriously injured. more than 250 firefighters rushed to put out massive flames burning out of an out of control apartment complex that was under construction. crews will to shut down on traffic because of heavy smoke. firefighter its say flames were so intense that buildings across the street suffered damage. >> did have papers that were on desks, they had minds, windows, screens that actually started catching on fire or melting due to the amount of radiant heat. >> a few hours after the first fire, a second one was sparked inside of a mixed use building, that's about 2 miles away. 100 firefighters responded to the scene here. investigators say there are no indications that the two fires are connected. but the cause of both is still under investigation tonight.

>> a top-secret senate report on u.s. interrogation techniques is expected to be released as early as tomorrow. well, this report has been in the making now for five years but there are also some calls not to release it because it will include very graphic details about torture tactics used by some cia interrogators. there is growing concern it could stir outrage or violence around the world. around the world u.s. embassies and consulates are on high alert bracing for the release of a secretive and highly controversial senate report on torture. >> the concern is over our military forces, our diplomats and other officials around the world particularly in areas where there are hot spots in the middle east and north africa. >> reporter: president obama banned the use of waterboarding years ago but it's not a secret that u.s. officials used questionable interrogation techniques at the cia's so-called black site during the bush administration after september 11th. >> we tortured some folks.

we did some things that were contrary to our values. >> reporter: a u.s. official says the senate intelligence committee report is very graphic and will be shocking to some americans. some prisoners sexually humiliated, cia interrogators continuing with torture even after determining there was no more information to be gained. >> consequence of releasing the report i can't have -- no one has told me what the good news is by releasing this report. >> reporter: in an interview with cnn former president george w. bush strongly defended the intelligence community. >> these are patriots and whatever the report says, if it diminishes their contributions to our country it is way off basism secretary of state john kerry has asked his former senate colleagues to delay the report's release and several lawmakers from both parties say making these details public will only inflame america's enemies.

>> meantime defense secretary chuck hagel says tonight u.s. efforts in iraq are working. while meeting with the prince of kuwait hagel said allied airstrikes are giving iraqi forces new momentum in regaining ground lost to isis since this summer. hagel says isis remains a threat to every nation in the region but the battle against its militants can be won. now, abc news will have much more on the cia report and the situation in iraq on world news tonight with david muir. that of course is at 6:30 right after "action news." over to monica. >> thank you sharrie. the search for missing west chester university students shane montgomery continues tonight. that is the community steps up its efforts trying to bring him home. delaware to the cost of gun violence. members of the first unit therien church have hung more than 40 t-shirts with the names of those killed by gun violence in wilmington over the last two years. the memorial to the lost as the church calls it will be up for two weeks. it's a move to show that those deaths were real people who will be missed. the church already needs to add a shirt for a man who died over the weekend. >> mercer county folks had another chance to get vaccinated for hepatitis a today. a clinic under way until 7:00 tonight at the hamilton township division of health on green water avenue. a worker at rosa's restaurant tested positive for hepatitis a. the restaurant has since been cleaned. a new project aimed at understanding genes and what goes wrong in disease got off the ground in asks today. the allen stow institute will merge information from all the life sciences and put them into a database and living

>> at least 21 people are dead and wide areas are flooded but it missed the worse from typhoon hagupit. the storm did not cause as much devastation as expected earlier. some of the nearly 1 million people who were riding out the storm in shelters have now begun returning home. horrible. >> uh-huh. back here meteorologist melissa magee has the lowdown on some changing weather, not typhoon-wise but it will be -- >> we have our own issue it will be the nor'easter moving in later tonight. when we wake up everyone will be feeling that soaking rain. scan shows us we had light snow a-bit of a coating down across south jersey early this morning. that precipitation moving away. what we are watching and what we're anticipating as we get

into the rest of tonight is this nor'easter dumbing from the south to north direction. temperatures ahead of that storm though quite chilly, a chilly start to our monday. most spots have been in the 30's all day. the exception areas north and west, the poconos 22, allentown 28 degrees. philadelphia coming in at 32 with the wind chill only in the 20's. the upper 30's for both sea isle city and atlantic city at the boardwalk. here's satellite satellite 6 alh action radar. what we are tracking is this surface low, this area of low pressure forming just off the coast of the carolinas. and you can see some moisture already starting to spill across the areas in the southeast. this will work its way from a south side to north direction as we go throughout the overnight hours and into tuesday. future tracker 6 showing you 1 o'clock in the morning you do notice some moisture, some light rainfall down across south jersey and delaware still to the south of philadelphia but as we get into the overnight hours 3:30 in the morning, some heavy rain right now from lakehurst down to atlantic city on westward into dover and you notice across our northwest suburbs a little bit of mixed precipitation for berks, lehigh and northampton

counties up through the poconos. that's where we had that winter weather advisory that is in effects. it goes into effect tonight lasting right through the first half of the day tomorrow. but then that wall of water comes rushing in at 7 o'clock in the morning. so definitely slow going for the commute tomorrow morning and even where we had that mix north and west you will also see a changeover to rain, the exception might be the poconos. now as we get into 12:30 tomorrow afternoon we still have that moisture to contend with and it does move out as we get into 5 o'clock in the evening but the problem with this storm system is that it could linger for a day or so as we get into after tuesday. so what to expect over the next 24 hours for inlands locations, 1 to 2 inches of rainfall possible street and stream flooding. gusts anywhere from 30 to 40 miles per hour. at the shore we could find up to 3-inches of rain, coastal flooding beach erosion and winds gusting any from 40 to 50 miles per hour. that's one part of the storm and that's going to be a good clunk of the storm. this is going to be mostly rain for most locations but north and west you have that brief ice then changing over

to rain overnight and into tuesday morning but for the poconos carbon monroe counties 3 to 6 inches of snow and ice. this is tonight into tuesday for the poconos and then we could have some lingering effects as we get any other middle half of our work week here. the call from accuweather for the rest of tonight brief icing north and west changing over to all rain. temperatures 35 in the city, 30 in the suburbs holding steady then slowly rising as we go throughout the overnight hours. the seven-day forecast, a wind driven soaking rain tomorrow, high temperature 41. on wednesday, some snow showers especially around for the commute on wednesday morning, a temperature, a chilly one at just 39 degrees. win windy, too. clouds dee with a flurry or two on thursday a-high of 39. 40's break out on friday, so does the sunshine, temps in the upper 40's next weekend. we'll be tracking a nor'easter throughout tonight and into tomorrow, guys. >> okay. >> thank you very much. >> thanks mel melissa. we'll be updating current conditions as the storm hits

precipitation come in the form of rain or snow. let's get latest information from double scan radar and meteorologist cecily tynan. >> and jim, you hear the term nor'easter this time of the year, a lot of people think heavy snow but this will be a rain event for our viewing area, at least at the onset before the cold air gets involved but storm tracker 6 live double scan showing as low pressure off the coast of the carolinas trying to get its act together, not a lot of precipitation right now. we did have some ocean effect snow near the jersey shore but this piece of energy across the midwest, this will really help to develop that low pressure intensify it. it will move up the eastern seaboard and it will be moving very slowly. so, this will be a relatively long duration event. the national weather service has posted a flood watch for the bulk of our viewing area, the i-95 corridor and areas east for the potential of one to 3-inches of rain and that could cause some localized flooding. in addition to that, when the precipitation first moves in
