quite a mess, lots of mud left behind, neighbors said prior to the break work was going on here for months. they wonder if it had anything to do with this mess. they say they put up with street work for months and shortly after 8:00 a.m., the 20 inch water main broke sending mud and water rushing down the street. >> my little cousin back to school, and everybody came out and we were trying to get across the street, we stood on one side and hoped it would go away and it was evacuated as a precaution. the flow was shut off at the source but as the water receded, mud and debris stayed behind and neighbored wondered if the recent work around oxford street might be to blame. >> these guys are out here for

three months working on the street. >> all the cars are just covered in dirt, kifrt consistently for the past three months. >> a character worked in august and september to replace smaller mains on the street that feeds into the bigger main that broke. in recent weeks street repair had begun, they don't think that was the reason it broke, it was cold and the main dates back to 1893. >> age may have play aid factor, or the cold, but we can't determine that, but it was not the worker. >> as we look back live the water department crews. just beginning the workout here, the german town should stay shut down for several days, given all the water out on the street it's amazing that one property got water in the basement.

no other cars or homes or businesses were damaged. if you find otherwise, contact the customer service people at the water department. i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> also, in kensington philadelphia police are investigating a murder after a body was found in the street. police responded to the report of a body, at 7:15 this morning. detectives say the victim was a man shot in the head and his hands were tied behind his back and detectives don't know how long the body was there. the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty will be laid to rest this weekend. viewings for joyce craig lewis will be held friday night and then 8:00 to 10:00 saturday morning at bachelor brothers funeral home and then laid to rest at ivy hill cemetery.

36-year-old craig-lewis died yesterday morning after becoming trapped in a basement home. we have more coming up including details of a fund set up for her children on "action news" at 6:00. video shows missing student shane montgomery around the time he vanished in manayunk, early thanksgiving morning. the video from a nearby nail salon shows montgomery stumbling across the bridge over the canal after leaving kildare's irish pub. today police marine units were searching the area near the river near belmont avenue, the reward to bring shane home stands at $65,000. from our new jersey newsroom now, a group took to the streets of trn trenton to call for justice in the case of michael brown and eric garner, dozens gathered outside of trenton's

city hall to protest the decision reached by the grand jury in both decisions. they both died at the hands of police officers, neither officer was indicted. they also want a mural depicting brown's face. and they held a demonstration in conjunction with medical students across the country. they want to bring attention, they also participated in the nationwide protest and they held a die-in for 4.5 minutes marking each hour that brown was in the streets after being killed. the remnants of the nor'easter are still over our area tonight. you may have seen snow flurries right here. meteorologist, cecily tynan may have been outside of her studios

with the latest from accuweather. it's beginning to look a lot like winter. >> we have windy, cold conditions, we have snow showers mainly to the northern and west of philadelphia, zooming in, you can see the snowflakes are flying in coatesville and lebanon and reading and pottstown and allentown moving down from the north and west, this is all wrap around moisture from the same system that brought us the soaking rain, this has stalled off the coast of nantucket. the heavy precipitation up near upstate new york, that low pressure will not be staying there one more day and that means we are stuck in the weather pattern, peak wind gusts in philadelphia, windier than yesterday, 33 miles per hour winds and allentown reporting a wind gust of 83 miles per hour,

flames shot through the roof of a popular chicago restaurant this morning. the billing is nearly a senry old and was used as a firehouse before it was used as a restaurant in 2000. it was sparked by roofers that were using torches on the

building. the latest report cord on america's health shows the war on obesity is far from over but there is new progress on obesity rates, its now 30%. pennsylvania and delaware have slightly higher rates, new jersey is at 26%. americans are becoming even bigger couch potatoes, people reported getting no physical activity in the next month, however smoking is down 3% and immunization s are up 5%. they are not as healthy. at the "action news" big board, a local runner was in the spotlight today, you may remember our story last month, on michelle albertson, for 4.5 years ago. she actually weighed 427 pounds, this is a picture of her then and through lap band surgery and healthy eating and exercising

president obama pledged $1 billion on spending programs

that support early childhood education, a young student helped to introduce the president and that 18 states would give grants that totalled $80 million then would be used for early education programs, knowledge gets $18 million and 500 million goes to another 40 states to help them expand programs for children under the age of 4. and the department of health and human services will be re-evaluated. they are looking into the policy and procedures of dhs, they are to strengthen families and communes for children at risk of neglect, abuse and delinquency. the council talked about the importance of dhs saying that the children touch every aspect of city life. and now drivers will be able to carry their driver's licenses

on their cell phone. drivers will be able to download an app first to hold their license and provide push notifications if their license was about to expire. snool. the photo and video sharing app is now bigger than twitter. the company's ceo says that the platform has 300 million users more than twitters 234 million. they are both way behind facebook's 240 billion users. happy young faces were spotted in camden at a special holiday party, they are from wiggins elementary school in camden and because of their excellent grades and atennance, they were invited to celebrate here at cooper university medical center. one of highlights of party was learning about this classic

around and stormtracker 6 live double scan -- monica is always looking on the bright side -- showing we have snow showers most of the activity is north and west of philadelphia. reading crosses 422 and 322 into coatesville and chadds ford near route 41, we have snow showers now. farther to the north more substantial near the poconos, lake harmony and strouds burg and that is because of nor'easter that stalled. philadelphia is currently 39 degrees and millville 40 and wilmington 39 and allentown 32 and the windchill make its feel like 28 degree fz philadelphia and feels like 23 in reading and 24 in trenton and lancaster, and stepping out tonight, you definitely want to bundle up.

widening out, the low pressure is near nantucket and going nowhere fast. it's pulling in moisture from the atlantic pulling away from upstate new york, and that is making that low pressure not moving tonight or tomorrow. in a will bring more snow showers. and the winter weather advisory will be posted in the poconos, and this is where the wet snow could accumulate an additional 1 to 3 inches in the overnight hours. we are not looking at anything of that, below freezing and snow showers. we could end up with a coating in the northwest suburbs, at 3:00 in the morning we city snow showers developing in the northwest suburbs, they continue on and off through the day tomorrow. 8:00 a few more and plenty of clouds and more substantial as we head into the afternoon hours. some rain and snow showers, very

error. the company changed their billing system recently and now your bill may look different and you may have been hit with this erroneous fee, a late fee that was misapplied and it's for $9.50. william engels scrutinizes every bill he gets, that is how he caught this mistake on his comcast statement. >> found a weird charge for $9.50 and hecalled the cable giant to ask about it. >> he knew about it, and she would credit him for the mistake. it was coming up a lot but was not doing anything to correct it unless people called in to tell them about it. >> it's really irritating. >> comcast admits it made the mistake on its customers november statements, but they

quickly identified the problem and reversed the late fees, they say the credit will appear on the january statements and they changed the statements for philadelphia customers in early november and new jersey customers this past week. comcast says the new bills are easier to read and provide more detailed information with more package or service discounts shown differently and they will allow them to process orderers more accurately and in-home installation experiences will be better. >> do check your january statement for the credit, comcast won tell me how many customers were impacted by the mistake, if you find the error on your bill tweet me about it or let me know on my facebook page. nydia thank you. overseas bases are now

philadelphia police want to hear from you. one woman that accused of bill cosby of sexual assault, is now suing him for calling her a lawyer. after she went public he called her claims absolutely false and green says that cosby drugged and assaulted her when she was an aspiring model in the 70s and spoke public in 2005 and the suit was filed in massachusetts where cosby now lives. the snowflakes and flurries are a good reminder, to get your vehicle ready for winter. stock your car with jumper cables and washer fluid and none perishable food and water. >> 32 degrees, you are losing a third of your batteries cranking power and what we saw last winter with the polar vortex, are you losing 2/3 of that

dealing with snow showers. and temperatures drop below freezing, where any of these snow showers are causing slick roads, philadelphia reported wind gusts of 25 miles per hour and 28 in allentown and 23 at the atlantic city airport and factor in the winds with the current temperature and 24 in trenton and 22 in allentown and feels like 18 degrees in the poconos. the reason why that low pressure that was that nor'easter yesterday, now it's a stalled low pressure off the coast of nantucket. all the heavy precipitation is off the coast of new england and upstate new york, we are getting that wrap around and that continues to bring us more clouds and breezy conditions and yes, more snow showers, future tracker showing 3:30 in the morning, snow showers are cropping up in the north and west suburbs, and this is
