before he hurts someone else. >> in the "action news" team spread out at each crime scene right now trying to get more information. we begin with sarah bloomquist live in pennsburg where the most active search is under way right now, sarah. >> reporter: it has been for the last several hours throughout the day. it has been a very tense afternoon here in pennsburg and we are very close to the action here at pottstown avenue and main street. you can see the swat team is right behind me. they've been concentrating on a row home right here on this block throughout the afternoon. it sure seems they believe the 35-year-old bradly stone a likely inside the house. they have been shouting for him to come out of that house. listen for the swat team shouting for bradly stone to come out. >> you're under arrest. come out now. >> reporter: this has been like a military operation out here all afternoon. swat vehicles coming with

highly trained tactical teams going up and down the street. they moved down the alley, smashing into the garage of a home. they've been concentrating on. we watched as they put a robot into the house as well. they've also had the swat teams, they come up to the house and then they retreat behind their shields. early this morning neighbors on the block were forced to evacuate. they got a knock on the door. they were told to hide behind the swat teams as they were moved out of their houses. chopper 6 hd was over the scene earlier as the swat team was in motion. again they're looking for 35-year-old bradly stone suspected in the deaths of six people and seriously wounding another. all the victims are related. again early this morning neighbors got that knock on the door. the swat team telling them to get out. other people had kids at school that were told to stay there because of a lockdown. here's what people had to tell us this afternoon. >> there was -- it was kind of crazy. i got a bang on my door around 8:30, 9 o'clock. it was the swat team.

they said that we all had to get out immediately, that there was a problem on the street, that it was unsafe to stay in your house. >> my kids in lockdown in school. >> reporter: what do you make of all of this? >> it's scary. it's scary 'cause it's so close to home. >> reporter: and as we look back live you can see people have been out here on the street at pottstown and main street. all the streets are shut down in this town but people are out on the corner trying to watch the action. again, as the swat team is here, they've been doing some maneuvers. it appears they're moving behind these houses. we'll continue to monitor the situation here in pennsburg. reporting live i'm sarah bloomquist, channel6 "action news." >> all right, sarah thank you. the first victim was found this morning in lower salford township and it set off this tragic chain of events. annie mccormick continues our coverage. you have more on that woman and her ties to the suspect. >> reporter: and shirleen so many friends and neighbors today asking why this could happen but telling us that

there were ongoing issues between the custody suit between the alleged shooter and the victim discovered today. you can still see bullet holes in the side of this apartment here. neighbors describe hearing not only gun shots but the chilling screams of the couple's daughters. this is where authorities believe the first deadly shooting in brad stone's took place in lower salford township just before 4:00 a.m. you can still see the bullet holes. >> i heard three or four gun shots and i heard the kids yelling mommy, no, mommy, no and he just said let's go, we got to go. >> reporter: this neighbor who does not want to be identified heard the chilling screams from the two girls inside. then saw the suspected gunman as he fled with the couple's two daughters. police discovered the victim dead inside with a gun slot wound to the head. her daughters what found safe nearby. >> i heard him say let's go. we got to get in the car and i asked him was everything okay and i saw the kids and the can

kids' father exiting the house and they didn't have any coats on or anything. they just had their pajamas on and he just said we got to go. he was like she's hurt, she's hurt pretty bad. we have to leave and he just got in the car and sped off. >> reporter: another neighbor described the victim as a caring mother who had discussed custody issues with her ex in the past but recently they seemed on good terms. >> it's really sad, you know. it's -- our kids are very close to her kids and, you know, my son would run right up to her. she loved holding my baby, my little one. she would always be like i'm taking him, i'm keeping him. she was a great lady. sad to know she's not going to be here anymore. >> reporter: back out here live lower salford township police have been holding the scene all day. they tell me that the montgomery county district attorney's office will be the lead investigators on this. like we said those two little girls were found safe a short time later, not far from here

but we're still waiting to hear details about who they're staying with and details about how they were found. reporting live in lower salford township annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> all of the swat team activity today has schools in the upper perkiomen district still on lockdown. leaders say they will not dismiss students until police give them the all-clear. meanwhile in souderton, students did get the okay but that came after a flurry of activity earlier in the day. david henry is live now in souderton where at least two people were killed and a teenager was badly hurt. david. >> reporter: yeah, shirleen this is the home of the suspect's relatives through marriage. we're not clear yet and it hasn't been made official how many people were actually killed inside this house but we do know that a teenaged boy were you wounded here and flown to the hospital after a swat team went into the house. a long line of swat vehicles

rumbled through souderton at shortly after 8 o'clock this morning. they converged on this house at penn and garfield. police thought the suspect was hold up inside. nearby residents were evacuated includely naomi shaw who was approached when she stepped tout walk herring. >> they told me to stop immediately and then they escorted me out of my home. that was at 8:30. >> reporter: the siege lasted more than four hours at just before noon police used a flash bang device. a percussion bomb is used to disorient a suspect as the swat team barges in. a short time after the bang someone was loaded onto an ambulance and a swat vehicle followed as it left. medevac helicopters also came and went from the scene. sources say a teenaged boy was rushed to the hospital with a gun shot wound to the head. neighbors say the family had been living here for about 15 years. the parents are in their 30's and they have a 19-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter. can kendra harderly lives across the street.

one of the victims remains have been removed the other remains inside. we've learned the identities of the two who were killed but investigators have not given us the go ahead to release that notification pending notification of next of kin but we can tell you the victim's are the suspect's 57-year-old ex mother-in-law and her 75 year old mother both shot and killed at close range. neighbors here say the two people murdered here in lansdale were the suspect's former mother-in-law and her 75-year-old mother, both of whom lived here on the 100 block of west fifth street. people who live nearby say they often saw the suspect, 35-year-old brad stone, confronting his ex-wife outside her mom's home. >> they weren't getting along. i guess she didn't want -- when they start arguing with one another, i want you to have her, i don't want you to see her. i don't know if it was still going on at this time but there were custody battles. >> reporter: still nobody we spoke with here ever expected those public arguments would

>> ♪ >> philadelphia police shot and killed a driver during a traffic stop this morning. two officers say they originally pulled the man over because he had ahead light out. when they stopped him on frankford avenue in mayfair, they say he struggled with them. they say he went back to his car for a gun, so one officer shot and killed him. but the victim's family is telling a different story.

vernon odom will have details in a live report at 4:30. from our delaware news room, one man is dead and a woman was hurt after a house fire this morning in newark. the action cam was on south off and on drive where the fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. fire broke out around 5:00 67-year-old man dead inside the burning home. they also say a 66-year-old woman had to go to the hospital after breathing in too much smoke. she is in serious condition. three other people including a 15-year-old boy were able to get out safely. there is still no word on how this started. >> a hostage situation in sydney australia came to an end today when swat teams shot their way inside. heavily armed police moved in just after 2:00 a.m. local time. they carried out several hostages from that cafe where a man had been holding them for 16 hours, two hostages were killed but it's not clear if they died during the raid or before. police did kill the hostage taker. they've now identified him as

man herron monis. he made headlines last year when he pleaded guilty to sending hateful letters to the families of australian service members. president barack obama is about to depart from new jersey after meeting with members of our military. he spoke at joint base mcguire dix lakehurst. the president thanked families for their service and sacrifice. new jersey governor chris christie joined the president there today. you can hear his remarks in a live report coming up on "action news" at 5:00. >> to business now. stocks were down to start the week. the dow lost 100 points on the day, the nasdaq dropped 48.5. the s & p fell almost 13. then days until christmas. santa's delivery elves are working overtime. today is the busiest shipping day of the season for fedex and its u.s. postal service. the post office expects to

what chris christie had to say about some very choice words one philadelphia councilman had for him. >> and two sides to one deadly shooting. philadelphia police say one of their officers was forced to kill a driver after he reached for a gun. but that driver's family says this was in fact a homicide. we've got a live report straight ahead. >> but we begin with the latest on a story we have now been following for nearly 12 hours. a killing spree in montgomery county. from souderton to pennsburg it will be a a day filled with fear, violence and uncertainty, a day of swat teams searching homes and blocking streets, all to find one man accused of killing at least six people in three separate towns. for the very latest on what's happening with the search for bradly stone we go live to kenneth moton at the lower salford township police department in harleysville. kenneth. >> reporter: shirleen here's the latest. police may have the suspect surrounded at a home right now. we're waiting for police here

to give their update and it appears that this all started over some child custody battle. we're also told all of the victims appear to be related. fear, confusion and swat teams spread through this region of montgomery county this morning after authorities say 35-year-old pennsburg man bradly william stone gunned down six people and injured one. >> i heard three or four gun shots and i heard the kids yelling saying mommy, no, no, mom knee, no and he just said let's go we got to go. >> reporter: investigators say it appears the shooting started in lower salford township at pheasant run apartments on main street around 4:00 a.m. police arrived to find bullet holes in a wall and a woman shot to death in an upstairs bedroom. she's believed to be the mother of stone's two children who police say he kidnapped after the shooting. a neighbor telling "action news" reporter annie mccormick she spoke with the suspected gunman. >> i asked him was everything okay and i saw the kids and the kids' father exiting the house and they didn't have any coats on or anything.

they just had their pajamas on. >> reporter: the children were later found safe but the shooting spree continued. shots fired on the 100 block of west fifth street in lansdale around 4:30 a.m. two people hit and killed. neighbors say the victims were stone's exmother-in-law and her 75-year-old mother. after 8:00 a.m. in souderton there was a standoff at the home of the suspect's brother-in-law at penn and garfield avenues. we could hear flash bangs as police moved in. it's unclear how many but people were found dead. a teenager was discovered with a gun shot wound to the head but law alive and rushed to the hospital. no sign of the suspected shooter. neighbors of his ex say she spoke of the veteran is known to use a cane and may be wearing military fatigue. >> it just came up in conversation, i was just asking about him and he was in the military. i don't know why he left but he does have some issues stemming from that. >> reporter: and this just in.

vernon odom live in mayfair to explain both sides of this story. vernon. >> reporter: tonight the police department's homicide unit and its internal affairs division are both investigating this morning's fatal police shooting of a motorist who was pulled over in the 6700 block of frankford avenue in mayfair. this is 26-year-old brandon tate brown who family members say was shot and can killed by police this morning during a traffic stop in mayfair. police say he was pulled over while in this rental car with florida tags around 2:45 because he was driving without headlights on. police say they observed a handgun near him then ordered brown out of the car. police say on the sidewalk a scuffle ensued and brown was shot once in the head because police say they believed he was head back to the car to grab that gun. >> apparently started way traffic stop and the officer was involved in some kind of struggle and wound up with a shooting of the suspect. there was a gun recovered from

the vehicle that the suspect was in. >> we do have a gun that was actually found in the suspect's car. it is a -- it's totally visible a butt of the gun. >> reporter: police say the .22 caliber handgun they found in the car was stolen. brown police say did five and a half years in prison in connection with attempted murder and he was on parole and still on probation until 2017. brown's relatives are devastate bide his death. they say he did more than five years in prison and gone straight for more than three years now and was working for a rental company in bucks county. they do not believe the shooting was justified at all. >> what i want to know is. >> what happened. >> what happened and why couldn't you disable him. why you trained to kill instead of disable. >> i don't want them to just sweep it under the rug. i don't want the cops to getaway with this because it's wrong. y took my son and i want somebody to pay for it.

>> reporter: brown's family say they fear the police probe will be a white wash. police deny that saying their probe will be thorough and accurate. live at police headquarters in center city, vernon odom channel6 "action news." >> allall right, vernon thank you. two top former officials of the coatesville area school district are now facing felony charges. chester county d.a. thomas hogan announced the charges today against former superintendent richard conwell and former athletic director jim done not tow. cuomo and donato are accused of stealing school funds and hiring convicted felons to teach. the charges come on the heels of a year long grand jury investigation. >> you had a superintendent and athletic director who were running the school district like it was their own personal kingdom. mocking in racist taunts the very people they were supposed to be serving and stealing

money from the district. >> both men left the district last year after allegedly sending racist text messages between the two they now face almost 200 felony counts. >> philadelphia police are looking for a thief who took advantage of a woman's mistake. this is surveillance video from outside the cvs on the 6600 block of north broad street last thursday. you can see a man walk up to a shopping cart and remove a purse. he then takes it around the corner to rifle through it. police say when he found $700 in cash, the suspect left with the whole bag. it turns out a 60-year-old woman accidentally left her purse in that shopping cart just before the theft. if you recognize this suspect, call northwest detectives. police in south philadelphia are also looking for a woman accused of assaulting a wawa worker during a robbery. cameras caught the suspect enter the store on this south christopher columbus boulevard back on november 20. you see her immediately approach the register and demand money. when that doesn't work, the woman goes behind the counter

valleys. we're looking at the us s battleship new jersey. really comfortable conditions not a whole lot of wind to deal with on our monday. as we look at storm tracker 6 live double scan radar it's dry and quiet across much of the region. as we get into tuesday afternoon we're tracking showers coming in from a west-east direction. the high today in the city 48 degrees, 3 degrees above average, the upper 40's for the month of december is not bad. we're buffer average and some of these temperatures will remain that way for the first half of the work week. this afternoon it's 45 in trenton, 32 in the poconos, 46 in allentown the lehigh valley, the lower 40's in beach haven and 41 degrees currently in dover. here's satellite 6 along with action raid today. you can see fair skies, things starting to thin out across our region. look offer to the west and the center of this area of low pressure that we're tracking, the same one that brought that soaking rain last week to areas in california that center of that low moving up across areas in missouri and iowa and that trailing cold

front so we're pressing into a warm front that moves through as we get into overnight tonight and more specifically into tuesday. future tracker 6 has you covered. 1 o'clock this afternoon it's mostly cloudy, 1 o'clock tuesday afternoon i should say and you watch that moisture approach from the southwest direction so some showers around for lancaster even reading. not a lost precipitation. moisture things out as we get into tuesday evening. showers will be around nonetheless around 8 o'clock on tuesday night. take a look at the setup as we get into the day on tuesday. high pressure to our east. this area of low pressure with the triple point developing here so the high temperature tomorrow 50 degrees, it's a cloudy start with afternoon showers from west-east direction. on wednesday that front lifts off to our north, breaks the sunshine. have a westerly wind and with that westerly wind temperatures warm up into the lower 50's midweek. winds sustained anywhere from 12 to 20 miles per hour and that high temperature in the city 52 and then after that temperatures will get below
