manhunt underway in the suburbs of philadelphia after a shooting spree that left six dead. >> looking for this man, bradley teen. police say he shot his ex-wife in the head after killing five of her family members including a 14-year-old niece. susan saulny is following the search. >> reporter: several towns outside philadelphia remain on lockdown after a shooting spree left six people dead sparking a massive manhunt. on the loose, the suspect 35-year-old former marine sergeant bradley stone. police confirmed he had a family connection to all six victims. >> we do not know where he is. we do not have vehicle information. >> reporter: the deadly rampage began at 3:30 monday morning when he went to a house and killed his ex-wife's sister, her husband and their 14-year-old

daughter. their 17-year-old son was injured but survived. police responded to a call nearby and found two more bodies. his grandmother in law and mother-in-law. and then to his ex-wife's house and shot her to death. >> i heard the kids saying mommy, no. >> she was a sweet girl. >> reporter: neighbors called 911 and reported seeing stone taking two girls from the house in their pajamas. he brought them to a neighbor before fleeg. they are looking at a wooded area where he may be hiding. the police are describing stone as extremely dangerous and asking the public to call 911 if anyone cease him. susan saulny, abc news, washington. and a story we will be tracking throughout the day. now breaking news from pakistan. a deadly attack by taliban militants there.

>> 21 people, mostly students, have been killed this morning when taliban gunman stormed a military school. dozens were wounded in the attack. pakistani army commandos arrived after the attack started and exchanged fire with the gunman dressed in security officer's uniforms. hundreds were evacuated. and sadness and tears, taken by the violent end of the 16 hour standoff that claimed the life of the gunman and the manager. katrina dawson, a lawyer and mother of three. mourners are gathering near the cafe to lay flowers in their memory. tony abbott laid a bouquet near the cafe where they were killed. david wright is there. >> reporter: the fear is balanced now by a show of unity and resilience.

people coming here to martin place to lay flaurs. and as you can see, it is an impressive pile. after 16 tense hours, it was all over in a flash. the australian s.w.a.t. team tossing stun grenades. storming the cafe where the gunman had holed up with his hostages. the gunman, now identified as mon hare ran monis, entered the cafe, taking 17 hostages. he forced them to press their hands against the windows to block any snipers outside. live tv broadcast this chilling image. the hostages in tears raising a black jihadi flag. on it, the muslim profession of faith. and then the hostage videos began. the gunman demanding an isis flag and a chance to speak with the australian prime minister. >> he's only asking for a flag and a phone call and that's it. >> they're going in as we speak now. >> reporter: the whole thing

on bail after sexual assault charges. he was best known for sending offensive letters of families of troops killed in afghanistan. the prime minister calling him deeply disturbed. >> there was nothing consistent about this individual's life except that he was consistently weird. >> he was condemned by mainstream muslims as a fake cleric. there is new concern in california as rain is falling again on those unstable hillsides. take a look at the overnight radar. spotty rain up and down the state and snow in the sierra. it's expected to continue for two days as two storm systems move in. there's minor flooding with several spinouts. residents in some communities putting up sandbags after flooding last weekend. southern california homeowners are worried about mudslides.
