>> today two of new york's finest was shot and killed with no warning and no provocation. they were quite simply assassinated. >> the nypz in mourning tonight after two officers were ambushed and shot at pointblank range sittinged in a patrol car they may not have each the killing coming. saturday night i'm walter perez and the big story is killing of two nypd officers in brooklyn. officers were ambushed in an assassination alleged gunman dead as well. hundreds swormd the street in bedford section of brooklyn this afternoon. investigators say a man named ismaaiyl brinsley walked up to the car and opened fire. two officers were struck in the head and did not survive. they're identified as rafael ramos and wenjian liu.

that part of the story. kenneth. walter we checked in with philadelphia police tonight and says the department continuously reit grates officer safety any time any officer is killed in line of duty in this country. >> philadelphia police are each more on alert after the am bish killings of two new york city police officers. the tensions and rhetoric have been increasing for months with protests like the one we saw at king of prussia saturday. demonstrateers upset over death of eric garner staten island and michael brown in furgeson at the hands of police. two police officers rafael ramos and wenjian lui have officers scouring social media of threats made by ismaaiyl brinsley with references to garner and brown and let's shoot police. >> it's been throughout the country very strong anti-police, ants eye criminal justice

her. >> thank you kenneth. moving on to other news a small fire disrupted holiday shopping rush at the cherry hill mall tonight. the blaze broke out p.m. inside the michael kohrs store. they had to force the last minute shoppers to wait outside for a stretch. the cause of fire remains under investigation. no injuries reported. a group gathered in montgomery county tonight to remember the six family members killed during a murderous rampage this past week. mourners reflected by candlelight at the pheasant run apartments. bradley stone allegedly killed his ex-wife nicole hill on monday morning. hill's mother, brand mother and three members of her sister's family were all murdered at other locations. hill's nephew, 17-year-old anthony flick was only survive. brad stone was found dead tuesday apparent suicide in pensburg. stone and hill were embroiled in a bitter child custody dispute. from our delaware newsroom a

78-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car in delaware city this evening it happened before 6 p.m. at cox neck road in south do you point highway the vehicle that hit her stoppedch the victim identified as jean karicio was pronounced dead at the scene. new castle county investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a massive place on the 45 0 0 block of wickwick drive before 6. you see the flames straed spread to one vehicle parked outside on the driveway. we're told people inside escaped unharmed. meanwhile a firefighter was treated on the scene for a minor injury. >> playoff hopes are fading for the eagles tonight the birds drop a hidious game for redskins today. jeff skversky has the details and jeff this was hart to watch. >> really hard to watch. how about 102 yards of penalties and 13 penalties and two more turnovers and after a 9-3 start the eagles probably will not make the playoffs. eagles heading home tonight following a devastating loss and

>> step ta police officer matthew vine called a hero tonight. he saved a man's life 69 street station before 1:00. he was running to catch a train and tumbled down the stairs on to a platform. officer ryan says he noticed what certainly appeared to be classic signs of heart attack. >> i was restoppeding an he did not have a pulse had lips turned blue and he was not braenl breathing finger swept his airway he was not choke egg and di cpr with chest compressions. >> officer ryan performed cpr until paramedics arrived a decision that likely kept the maybe alive. the victim was taken to the hospital in critical company and officer ryan says he was doing his job. >> police in philadelphia need help identifying a john doe admitted to the hospital in
