60s, the latest forecast information is trending warmer. i'll have the latest when i come back in ten minutes. >> the big story on "action news" sunday morning is breaking news, a twole alarm fire -- a two-alarm fire killed one person and left a person in serious condition. >> "action news" reporter, katherine scott joins us live from the scene in claymont, delaware, with the details. katherine. >> reporter: nydia and eva, one person has died and a 72-year-old man is in the hospital in serious condition. the delaware state fire marshal remains on the scene. the investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway. they are investigating how the fire spread so quickly. the fire started around 2:30 a.m. at the harbor house apartment complex on the 200 block of harbor drive in claymont. 17 units were on fire.

and the action cam was on the scene as firefighters rescued a 72-year-old man frizz apartment. paramedics on scene treated him for smoke and high carbon monoxide levels. he was taken to chris i can't -- christiana hospital and remains in serious condition. the fire started in a third floor apartment and spread to the attic and to the building next-door. the firefighters said when they got here, the flames were advanced. >> we were out in two minutes time and the fire was already advanced. >> reporter: back here live on the scene, you can see fire crews remain fire investigators trying to determine how the blaze began. a resident said he did hear a smoke alarm, red cross was on scene providing assistance to residents. at least ten families at this point, they expect the numbers

to grow as they catch up with more people. the cause is under investigation this morning. we're live in claymont, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." eva? >> thanks, katherine. from the new jersey newsroom a 10-year-old boy and elderly woman suffered minor injuries in a south jersey apartment. it happened at 10:30. fire officials say smoke and flames were pouring from two second story windows when they arrived. the boy and woman are being treated for smoke. a bizarre scene at a philadelphia bar, two men opened fire in two separate shootings at the same bar. it happen in the city's mayfair section. police say the man was got into a domestic dispute around midnight and told to leave the bar. police say the man returned and fired several shots into the bar door and ran off. a man inside was hit in the arm.

himself on the platform of the g train. earlier in the day he put this photo on instagram with a post that said i'm putting wings on pigs they take you one of our ours, we take two of theirs, with the hash tag, shoot the police. the weapon recovered at the scene was the silver handgun. there was mounting evidence that the suspect had issues with the police for sometime. >> we have and never will forget that mission, we'll never forget the two young men who lost their lives today. >> reporter: police are investigating trying to figure out out what caused this, what led to this, so far, at least there doesn't seem to be a rational explanation. in bedford, new york, i'm jim dolan. channel 6 "action news." >> police commissioner, ramsey is calling on his own officers to be carefully and alert

i'll set this in motion, you will see this huge slug of moisture come up the eastern seaboard as that storm pushes across the high plains and the great lake states. this is a expwawl line pushing -- squall line pushing up from the south. we could see a thunderstorm here, as well as we get into christmas eve. 60-degree temperatures, potent energy approaching from the west we could see a thunderstorm popping up in parts of the area. christmas eve we have not one, but two storm systems coming awe across the upstate new york with a lot of the rain up and down the mid atlantic into new england, snow is flying across the western great lake states. the early call from accuweather, 60 degrees, latest forecast information has us to 63, 64. rainy and windy, guss up to 40 miles per hour. christmas day, it's cooler. even this 50 is significantly milder for where we should be for this time of year.

forecast. big story on "action news" is the devastating fire in delaware. a two-alarm fire consumed an apartment complex in claymont. firefighters rushed into to residents trapped in the intense flames. one person was killed, another rushed to the hospital. residents are left homeless with nothing but the clothes on their backs, days before chrisy -- christmas. katherine scott joins us live from the scene with the details. katherine? >> reporter: eva the fire investigation is underway this morning, we do know that one person has died and a 72-year-old man remains in the hospital in serious condition. if you take a look at the building you can see where the fire completely tore through that roof. the roof is gone this morning. investigators remain on the scene here after the fire that claimed the life of one person. fierce flames stretched high above the claymont homes after a fire tore through two buildings

at the harbor house apartment complex on the 200 block of harbor drive. >> i can't believe it, because the whole entire block is gone. >> reporter: firefighters were called after 2:30 a.m. they also they were here within 3 -- they say they were here within 3 minutes and met with flames advanced and rapidly spreading. the fire started in a third floor apartment and spread into the attic and to the building next-door. 17 apartments were destroyed including this man's apartment. >> from christmas i'm looking from here, everything is burning, my tears came out. it was tough. >> reporter: firefighters rescued a 72 man who was trapped, paramedics treated him for smoke and high carbon

monoxide levels. he was taken to christiana hospital. the red cross is offering assistance to the victims who can't get back in their homes. >> it's a difficult morning they lost their homes. where is we come out and we're trying to help. it's amazing how resilient are people are after a fire. these people will be resilient. and back here live where you can see the fire scene is taped off and police are holding the scene, as well, as fire officials who are trying to figure out how the fire spread so quickly. the red cross is helping at least ten families, but they are expecting the number to grow, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. the action cam was in new castle delaware overnight where a driver was killed after crashing into a fence. it happened on the dupont highway at 5:00 a.m.

the driver lost control and hit the pens. a pole went into the car and impaled the man. he was killed instantly. new york city police department is trying to come terms with the killing of two of their own while sitting eating their luncheon an new york city city street. president obama said there's no reason for this kind of action. the alleged gunman made quotes that were antipolice. >> police said ismaaiyl brinsley shot and wounded his girlfriend hours before killing police officers, he shot and killed himself afterwards. the family of the michael brown the unarmed black teen who was shot and killed by a white police officer had this to say about the shooting. we reject any kind of violence directed toward law enforcement.

morning hours and into the afternoon. it should stay nice and quiet out there. the pattern we have seen over the past two to three weeks is west to east across the entire country. this is air off the pacific ocean jumps the rockies and hits the front range and pushes into the eastern seaboard. you'll never get consistent cold with a pattern like this because that pattern locks all the cold air up into canada. set it in motion you can see it by following the clouds. everything is moving west to east. what will happen with the christmas eve storm you'll get a piece of energy jumping over the rockies. this will hit the gulf coast states and come up. once it pushes into upstate new york it will get stuck and systems will move north to south that will get the arctic involved. again, it will feel like winter as we get into new year's eve and new year's day. watch the storm coming out of the front range it dwraws all

the moisture -- draws all the moisture out of the gulf. watch all this moisture being siphoned up to the north. this is the pattern-changer. we have an area of low pressure there another to the south they join forces right here, this storm will get stuck in the provinces of canada and the pattern is north to south and you get the cold involved. as a matter of fact if you flip it over to future tracker 6 you can see how the cold air attacks the pattern getting into next week. cold and rainy, temperatures -- that was interesting. close to 60 degrees, actually latest forecast information has us to 62 or 63. winds could gust up to 40 to 45 miles per hour. christmas day we'll see a high around 50. gusts up to 45 miles per hour. christmas day is a cooler day, but above average for this time of year. the way you look at this, the winds below parallel to the
