condition. you can see there's a lot of damage at this apartment complex. 17 units were on fire. you can see the roof is gone and the investigation is underway. >> i'm standing here and looking at everything burning. >> reporter: this man stood outside his claymont apartment buildings that was the devastated by a fire this morning. spotting smoky grabbed his wife and baby son and got out. he said everything inside the home is destroyed. >> i am speechless, i was looking at flames from here, my apartment burning, everything burning. >> reporter: firefighters were called to the harbor house apartment complex on the 200 block of harbor drive after 2:30. they also they were here within -- they say they were here within 3 minutes, but yet met with flames that were spreading. >> we were behind the 8 ball.

>> reporter: officials say the blaze began in the 3rd floor apartment the fire spread to the attic and the next buildings. a man was treated for smoke and taken to the hospital. one person was found dead inside. when the red cross arrived they offered assistance to residents who can not return home. >> they had gone through seeing the active fire. they were confused and cold. i think they are more looking for information than anything else at that point. they wanted to know what was going to happen. >> reporter: and you can see some of the apartments here were gutted. the american red cross is housing at least ten families and they say that number could grow. the delaware state fire marshal was on the scene trying to determine how the fire began. we are live in claymont, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." nydia? >> so sad, katherine right before the holidays. from our new jersey

newsroom a 10-year-old boy and elderly woman suffered minor injuries in a fire in salem last night. fire officials say smoke and flames were pouring from two second floor wools when they arrived. the bow -- floor windows when they arrived. the boy and the woman are being treated at the hospital for smoke. we have two shootings at a bar overnight. the action cam was at the scene in the city's mayfair section. a man came into the bar demanding that his girl friend leave with him. the bar ordered him to leave, they locked the door. the man returned fired shots into the bar wounding a man in the alarm. while police was investigating,

a another man got out of the car and he fired his gun in the area while police and witnesses were talking. police wrestled the gun from him. >> i think the male was intoxicated. still you have a guy coming here with police lights on and police at this location, he comes in with two guns and fires a shot, he could have hit one of us or one of the witnesses to the previous shooting. >> police say the first gunman a 21-year-old turned himself in. crime scene tape marked off the home decorated in norristown after two people were shot overnight. it happened at the intersection of powell street. one was airlifted to the hospital of university of pennsylvania. the other was airlifted to jefferson university hospital. no word on their conditions. new at noon, a police officer in florida has been shot and killed. the sheriff's office said the

officer was shot at 3578 at an apartment complex 25 miles from tampa. police responded to calls that someone was banging on people's door. when police arrived, the suspect opened fire killing the officer. police made an arrest. investigators are piecing together more disturbing information about the man who ambushed and killed two new york city police officers. investigators have released chilling messages that the killer ismaaiyl brinsley posted on instagram. he posted them after shooting his ex-girlfriend and heading north to new york city. he posted a picture of his pant leg with blood stain and pictures of michael brown and eric garner who died at the hands of police. and then he posted a threat. they take one of ours we'll take two of theirs. >> it indicates he had a strong

but first the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast with chris sowers, hi, chris. >> reporter: good afternoon, nydia, it's not too bad out here, it's chilly, but today we have sunshine showing up. reading, 34. philadelphia, 39. millville, 38. trenton, 35. and dover, 38 degrees. the 24-hour temperature change is not too much of a difference across the far western suburbs. you see the bulls eye in the heart of the viewing area where temperatures are running # to 5 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. that includes south jersey and the i-95 corridor. a lot of that has to do with the sunshine we're seeing in the area. north and west where they are locked in pretty good with cloud cover. temperatures have not responded. where we are seeing the breaks and picking up the sun. temperatures are milder. not too much. 39 is chilly, but it does feel better than yesterday. 43 degrees that's the forecasted high for today. combination of sun and clouds, we'll call it chilly out here.

damage, the roof of the apartment complex is completely gone as you take a live look at it now. investigators were on the scene trying to determine how the fire began and why it video spread so quickly. let's go to the video. the fire started at 2:30 a.m. on the 200 block of harbor drive in claymont. firefighters rescued the 72-year-old man, paramedics on scene treated him for smoke and high carbon carbon monoxides led he was taken to christiana hospital listed in serious condition. the fire started in the third floor apartment and spread to the attic and to the building next-door. fire crews were on the scene in 3 minutes. we were told that the fire was advanced at that point and spread quickly. one resident said it was a smoke alarm that alerted him. he didn't have anytime to grab anything, but wanted to make sure that his wife and baby son got out quickly.

temperatures are sitting baltimore through wilmington and philadelphia we're closing in on 40 degrees. as we look wider we'll set it in motion for you. pattern is west to east across the county. that's pacific air pushing through the rockies into the heartland of the nation. what will happen over the next two to three days, this mild air this is the 350-degree line right here, that will push to the north over the next couple of days. by the time we get into tuesday and wednesday, southern canada will be in the upper 50s, portions of new england could be touching 06 degrees with this storm system as it charges up the spine of the appalachians. the clouds increase as we head into tomorrow. there could patchy drizzle late in the day. the model is showing this now, developing along the coast. otherwise it will be a day featuring increasing clouds and monday evening there could patchy drizzle out there. tuesday looks like a couple of showers be possible. otherwise cloudy skies damp from

one of us, that's all he wanted to do to his that passion in such a young boy it was heartwarming. >> reporter: when they heard of aidan's dream to be firefighter, 89 department in his hometown of washington township made him an honorary member. his gear didn't quite fit. soon departments were sending patches and helmets and well wishes using the motto nobody fights alone. >> it's a brotherhood, men, women, no matter what it is. aidan's fight is over now, but in his short time on earth he managed to touch so many, a little kid from south jersey who won the heart of firefighters all over the world. >> he had a fire on his face everyday he did a great job on bringing everybody together. >> reporter: aidan is survived by his parents, four brothers and sisters and extended family,
