in the 40's. it's 44 in philadelphia, 40 in allentown. the only place where we are at the freezing mark is up in the poconos and they are -- there what he freezing rain advisory that goes into effect later on this evening and during the overnight hours elsewhere everyone is well above the freezing mark. so that's the first round of precipitation that we're tracking. you see this moisture coming up from a south to north direction. there's a we'll coastal load developing off the coast of the carolinas. so this turns northward as we get into later on tonight but the big story we're tracking as we get into christmas eve, the one everyone is pants pating you'll see this moisture coming out of the rockies so this moisture cuts down to our south, forms this area of low pressure from the south and taps into all of this moisture coming from the gulf of mexico and that will work its way into our region as we get into tuesday night and real into wednesday. so future tracker 6 showing you that moisture developing from the south and it really embodies much of the delaware and lehigh valleys as we get into wednesday morning lasting for much of the day on wednesday as well. so, two rounds of rain tuesday

and wednesday, light rain and drizzle. and then christmas eve rain, some of which will be heavy at times and at that point we're culling for anywhere from a half inch to an inch of rainfall on the way. we'll take a closer look at the system and let you know if it pulls out in time for christmas day with the accuweather forecast. shirleen. >> sounds good. thank you mel sarge philadelphia police are looking for the man who shot two people today in grays ferry. "action news" has learned one of the victims is just three years old. john rawlins is live now on south newkirk street where this all happened late this morning. john. >> reporter: hi, shirleen, the little boy is said to be if stable condition. as you say he's just three years old. he's at chop. he was shot in the leg. an adult neighbor also shot in the leg is said to be in stable condition as well. a confusing chain of events and multiple gun shots this morning. an unidentified gunman looking for one man but shoots his neighbor. >> why we don't know. we're looking into that.

he was looking for one gentleman in particular. and as a result of not finding him, he ended up firing several rounds. >> reporter: the neighbor identified as william pew according to his mother-in-law pew drove himself to the hospital. >> she said he actually drove himself. >> reporter: is that right. >> she said 'cause there's blood over the drivers' seat. >> reporter: the gunman fired at least one shot into 1355 newkirk wounding the three-year-old son of this man, known to neighbors as mo its believed mo may have been the intended target. he had no comment as he entered his now's this afternoon. councilman kenyatta johnson says anyone with information about the gunman and the reasons for the shooting must get that information to investigators. >> this makes no sense as to how they seized him. -- this holiday season we shouldn't have a family going to the hospital with a three-year-old shot in the leg. this is another reason why we have to be aggressive going after those individuals carrying illegal guns.

>> reporter: still no description of the gunman from police. councilman johnson says this has been a bad mix of violence, drugs and guns here in this part of grays ferry. people need to speak out. he made the point that it was just last august that a thrill three-year-old girl onedding street was shot and killed. he said people need to speak out. live in grays ferry, john recalls --ist. >> investigators say sean king start add porch fire last week. a man and woman had to be rescued from the roof and two neighboring properties were damaged. anyone who knows where to find king should contact philadelphia police. investigators in delaware are trying figure out what started three separate fires including one that left one person dead and another that forced a dozen people out of their homes at an apartment

complex. "action news" reporter katherine scott has the details. >> the delaware state fire marshals office has its hands full today investigating three fires that took place yesterday, two of them are in claymont a third in hockessin. none are connected. here on butternut court 15 apartments were damaged and the red cross is assisting at least 12 people who are unable to return home. >> i just heard a loud bang. >> reporter: at first bill said it sounded like a car had backfired. then he saw smoke coming from a window at valley run apartments in claymont around 9:15 last night. >> it was just unbelievable how quickly it started from there and just -- and every time they thought they had it out, it was a flareup again. >> reporter: flames escalated quickly spreading to apartments on the unit block of butternut court. they were several injuries, none of them serious. the delaware state fire marshal's office was back here

this morning investigating trying to determine what caused the blaze that left these homes in ruins just days before christmas. >> christmastime, you know, now the families are displaced and it's horrible. >> my friend darren that lives upstairs was just talking about, you know, i had my wife's christmas presents wrapped and ready to go and it's all gone, you know. they lost everything in a blink of an eye. >> reporter: just a few miles away yesterday morning firefighters were called to harbor house apartments in claymont for a different fire that claimed one person's life and injured another. the flames advanced quickly, nearly 40 people couldn't return home. a 72-year-old man was rescued by firefighters and taken to the hospital in serious condition. back here at butternut court you can see the blown outwindows. the apartments are completely destroyed. we're hearing there could be at least a half million dollars worth of damage. in claymont katherine scott, channel6 "action news."

>> that third fire katherine mentioned started at a barn in hockessin. it happened around 8:30 last night at the york land arabian horse farm on gun club road. the blaze killed 12 horses. vernon odom will have more in a live report at 5:30. >> a drug bust in delaware led police to a stash of marijuana hallucinogenic mushrooms and candy laced with hash. officers uncovered the drugs and cash on speak man place in wilmington. the raise followed a six month investigation. 24-year-old andre corbett was taken into custody at that house. he's now facing several charges including possession and intent to delivery. >> here at the big board now, if you're down about the eagles you should know there's at least one good story going on this weekend in philadelphia sports in case you missed it, the man in goal for the flyers last night made some history. his name is rob zeff and last

night was his first nhl game. he is 33 years old making him the oldest player ever to make his debut with the flyers. zepp always dreamed of playing in the nhl but it didn't look like he would ever get a chance so he went to play in germany where his team won five championships in seven years. but he said he wanted to give his dream one more shot so he signed a minor league deal with the flyers and when the team rallied from two goals down to beat the jets in overtime last night, he got the win making him the oldest goalie to win his debut since 1926. zepp was called up from the minors after goalie steve mason got hurt on friday. still no word on how long mason will be out so zepp could get into a few more games while he's with the team. imagine, first shot, first game with the team and he won for them. >> what an awesome night. still ahead a royal trial. a member of the european royal family who is facing criminal charges today.

convicted. astronauts in space need new tool but they didn't have to wait for a shipment from earth. instead, nasa engineers e-mailed the tool into space and astronauts made it themselves using a 3-d printer. international space station commander chan butch will mer became the first man to make a new tool in place. the ratcheting socket wrench will end up back on earth to see if tools made in space are different than the ones made on the ground. the 3-d printer itself is also unique, it's the only one in existence designed to work in zero gravity. >> to business on a monday afternoon. stocks picking up right where they left off on friday. the dow up 154 points and change today. nasdaq also gaining 16 points. the s & p also up eight. ups expects to deliver 34 million packages today. that would make it the biggest

let me tell you about some of the spots where you don't want to go. 202 southbound side, you can go but you're going to have trouble going quickly here in the southbound lanes like most afternoons we are backed up at this point in malvern by route 29 on down to 401 in the work zone. this weekend we got a new traffic pattern northbound through the work zone between 30 and 401. now you're moving in the middle of the roadway instead of on the right side. heads up there. things look a little different. once you reach this point at 29 there's a broken down vehicle but it's off to the side so not impeding traffic too much. farther north by the king of prussia mall you know things are going to be busy with those last minute shoppers. also an accident this afternoon in buckingham township bucks county involving an overturned school bus. we're hearing luckily there were no students on the bus but swamp road remains closed. forest grove road a possible alternate. here's the tacony palmyra bridge just finishing an opening for a southbound ship. traffic just starting to move once again. we had a crash early this morning in stanton delaware still blocking the right lane along route four eastbound

we're tracking another batch of knowledge moves in the day before christmas. on storm tracker 6 street level light rainfall across south jersey and delaware. if you're traveling along reutter one there in delaware, just to the north of miles an hour narks also on route 47 from millville down to sea isle city and route 40 just to the south of hammonton and to the west of atlantic city we're dealing with some light to moderate rain showers moving on through. temperatures however are above the freezing mark in philadelphia. we're 44 degrees. 40 in allentown, 43 degrees in sea isle city but 32 degrees in the poconos. so, this is the only area where we're more than likely going have some minor issues later on tonight and first thing tomorrow morning. national weather service has issued a freezing rain advicer to for carbon and monroe counties because at the onset of this batch of moisture moving through there could be some icy spots before you get that eventual changeover to rain. future tracker 6 has you covered for the rest of tonight you could see just some light spotty showers across much of the region. it will continue even as you wake up tomorrow morning at

7:30 in the morning but once we get into tuesday afternoon it looks to be mostly cloudy at 5 o'clock in the early evening. then we await the arrival of another round of precipitation and this is the one that we're tracking as we get into christmas eve. so, satellite 6 along with action radar takes you to the west coast because we're tracking this moisture that's developing across the four corners energy coming out of denver colorado. this moisture dips down to our south, works its way eastward. as you get that moisture coming in from the gulf of mexico working its way any other delaware and lehigh valleys for christmas eve. here's what we can expect on wednesday. a soaking rain anywhere from a half inch to an inch of rainfall on the way. ponding on roadways and because we are calling for very heavy rainfall across the region travel delays is another big concern. temperatures however will be quite mild, in the lower 60's on christmas eve and keep in mind the record for christmas eve is 61 set back in 1990 or 64 so not too far away from that. the call from accuweather for the rest of tonight light rain

officials now fear that more officers could be ambushed by a copycat assassin. for more on the precautions taken right here after home today, "action news" reporter david henry at sixth district police station in center city philadelphia today. hi, david. >> reporter: yeah, hey, brian. philadelphia police officers get a special safety message at roll call every day before they head out on patrol but that message today carried extra weight after what happened in new york over the weekend. it is a message that is also being reinforced by union leadership. >> extra, extra careful especially during these times. it's a very fragile time. as officers headed out on patrol today they were mindful of what happened in new york and what could happen to any one of them at any moment. they sense more animosity after antipolice violence demonstrations like this one in center city last night. the rhetoric has been red hot since grand jurys in ferguson and new york failed to indict

police officers for the deaths of michael brown and eric garner. the gunman who assassinated the officers in new york cited those cases as his motivation. now police everywhere are worried a copycat might be planning a similar ambush. there have been no credible threats to police in philadelphia. >> i think we'll be okay. it's just a matter of -- it's that sense in the. you can't put a real pulse on it but everybody is extra careful. >> reporter: philadelphia police say they get threats ail the time but nothing specifically related to the brown and garner cases. the demonstrations near philadelphia have been mostly peaceful with very few arrests. there has been violence in other cities. but philadelphia authorities credit a well trained civil affairs unit and specialized crowd control units for helping to keep ahead on things here. but police commissioner ramsey worries about the inflammatory rhetoric. >> when we have people using very inflammatory rhetoric, you never know who you're

motivating to do something. >> reporter: now, philadelphia police officers may be extra vigilant now but that's something that reminded of every day. at the end of roll call they're always told to stay alert and come home safe and sound. live in center city, david henry, channel6 "action news." brian. >> all right, david thank you. a dover man is dead today after expressing a plan to "commit suicide by cop." police respond to do james lawn's residence here in the country club apartment complex late last night after crisis counselors told them he planned to kill himself. when police entered the app they said long pointed what appeared to be a gun at him. they fired hitting and killing long. that gun was later determined to be a bb gun. plea also say long booby trapped his apartment with noxious chemicals prompting them to briefly evacuate that building. >> two people are facing charges for allegedly tying up

a senior citizen and robbing her inside her west whiteland township home. 36-year-old leonard bernard and 41-year-old brianna mitchell were captured overnight in delaware. bernard allegedly posed as a home healthcare worker and knocked on the 76-year-old victim's door in the exton crossing development on saturday. police say he then forced his way inside, bound the woman's hands and stole her jewelry. bernard and mitchell are both charged with robbery, aggravated assault and kid happening. they are awaiting extradition back to chester county. police in philadelphia are questioning one person in connection to an early morning abduction in fern rock. investigators tell "action news" four suspects kidnapped a man from a house on cranston road around 5:00 a.m. he was apparently beaten before being left on the 700 block of chew avenue a short time later. the victim was rushed to einstein hospital in stable condition. police believe the abduction may have been drug related. charges have not yet been

filed. >> a woman accused of operating a day-care center without a license is staysy facing charges after her suv was towed away with two children inside. police say tonya robinson left the girls ages five and one in the back of her car outside the penn indicator plaza shopping center on friday. while robinson was inside shopping her car was repossessed by tow truck driver who didn't notice the kids until he got back to the tow yard. the girls were not hurt and were returned to their parents. robinson is charged with child endangerment and delaware officials will order her to shut down her day care because she was unlicensed. >> one person was hurt when two school buses collided in west philadelphia this morning. chopper 6 was over the accident at 56th and chestnut just after 7:00. one of the buses went off the road and knocked out a traffic signal. before it stopped on the sidewalk just feet away from a building. medics took one person to the hospital. there's still no word on what caused the crash.

local historians say that bethlehem pennsylvania was chris stenned in a stable across the street from where i'm standing right now. no kidding. local officials cling to that moravian tradition a tradition that you mentioned even extends to the post office. talk about a hot christmas gift. every year the bethlehem post mastery receives tens of thousands of christmas cards from as far away as china requesting the postage be canceled with one of their two special christmas stamps, one of which has the star of bethlehem, the other bearing an image of the three wise men and all those requests are hand stamped. bethlehem post master dan myiases yo' says that's on top of all the other holiday parcels they need to deliver. >> we deliver over 3,000 packages in one day to bethlehem alone and they're probably doing the same. that's why i said earlier just so proud of the job they've done. >> reporter: bethlehem's christmas spirit is not limited to the post officers. over at the moravian book shop which first opened its doors

afternoon. one vehicle favoring the wrong way. lot of emergency crews are on the scene and just the right shoulder is getting by on the ramp again from 95 southbound to the vine westbound. this is causing even heavier than normal delays as you come south on 95 through the work zone by girard avenue. just off 95 in frankford we had some downed wires that were blocking james street near margaret. they got those pushed out of the way so you can get by once again. you're getting by but really slowly on the schuylkill westbound near university. there's a broken down bus taking out the right lane. speeds just in the teens as you head toward that bus. so, extra heavy through that neck of the woods. also a broken down vehicle on the roosevelt boulevard northbound side by ninth street still partially blocking the left lane so heavy here as well. locked up from ridge avenue north on the boulevard up to ninth street. our overturned school bus crash in buckingham bucks county has cleared. everything reopened along swamp road and no word of any major injuries there luckily n warrington there's a crash along 611 southbound past kelly road there by the kc

on storm tracker 6 live double scan street level, if you're traveling along the garden state parkway in jersey we've got a little bit of light precipitation just to the south of areas in atlantic city. to the west as well along route 40 down to millville, even along route 47 we're tracking that moisture. from dover up northward into wilmington we do have a little bit of light precipitation on the way. temperatures for the most part are above the freezing mark. the exception the poconos, it's 32 degrees there. that's where we have the freezing rain advisory in effect later on this evening. elsewhere temperatures are in the 40's, upper 30's. 39 in trenton, 42 in beach haven, 37 degrees in allentown and 41 degrees in dover. here's satellite 6 along with action radar. round one is moving in right now. you can see the moisture collecting across areas in south jersey and delaware. there's a little weak coastal low just off the coast of the carolinas. this moves in from the south to north direction as we get into the rest of tonight and into the first half of the day on tuesday. then round two moves in as we get into wednesday on christmas eve. you can see this moisture starting to get its act together across areas in the

four corners region. this taps into some moisture coming in the gulf of mexico and from a south to north direction. future tracker 6 has you covered for the rest of tonight. we do have some light rain and drizzle around the region. it continues for the first half of the morning on tuesday 7 o'clock in the morning light rain and drizzle but at this point temperatures will be quite mild in the lower 50's. we get a break as we get into tuesday evening. then we track another batch of moisture that moves in as we get into wednesday morning. so future tracker 6 showing you 6 o'clock in the morning midweek we have the rain that will be around and this rain will pick up in intensity. you can see at 1:30 in the afternoon on wednesday you do have light, in not some moderate and heavy pockets of rain that move through. it continues as we get into 8 o'clock on wednesday night so some slow downs, some travel concerns as well. you can see this moisture starting to push off shore as we get into christmas day, 7:30 in the morning so it's not until early on christmas day that we will start to get clearing and behind that the winds will pick up on the backside. so christmas day here's your forecast. some improvement on the way.
