when i come back in just a few minutes we'll take a closer look at that on future tracker 6. eva. >> thousands of police officers across the county are lining up in new york to salute the procession of a fallen colleague. funeral begins in the next hour for rafael ramos. the beloved father and police officer was shot to death in his cruiser. our sister station has more on the wake. ♪ >> reporter: police officers from across the country stood with new york city residents as they filled the streets to be part of the wake for officer rafael ramos. the queens church so full of well wishers, the church erected screens and speakers so thousands could hear the family speak about their loved one. he was one of two officers shot and killed last weekend while

all our hearts when something like that happens. it could be anyone of us. that's what hits home. the services will be held at christ tabernacle church. the vice president will be here, the governor and thousands from across the nation. 200 philadelphia police officers are in queens for the funeral. the action cam was in northeast philadelphia as they boredded buses early this morning. the troop was organized by the fop. they want to show solidarity to the nypd and pay their respects for the fallen officer. >> anytime an officer is killed in the line of duty, you feel it no matter where it is. california or pennsylvania, we feel for them. >> reporter: bensalem is sending officers, meantime arrangements for his partner, wenjian liu

have not been announced. bristol township, bucks county questioned the man they think is responsible for a hit-and-run. bristol township police found the damaged red dodge ram on bath road. the pick up slammed into the home of jenny russo, the coroner must determine if the accident caused her death before police decide whether to seek charges. dann cuellar has more on this story at 9:30. philadelphia police are hoping surveillance video will find two men who held up a family dollar. it happened in oxford circle. authorities say the suspects entered the store and demanded cash. the thieves took off on foot, nobody was hurt. statistics are starting to come and they suggest this was in fact a robust holiday

>> new this morning, pennsylvania police are investigating a series of fights at a mall that were fueled by posts on social media. it happened at the monroeville mall in allegheny county. police say 1,000 teens were inside the mall at the time. 6 fights happened in a matter of hours. the mall was shut down, no arrests have been made. similar disturbances happened in mall also in tennessee and california and missouri. in the midst of the joy of

some weekends we have not seen the the sun, so that's a welcomed sight. meteorologist chris sowers has a mild one for us today. >> reporter: let's get you outside, atlantic city, temperatures are up in the mid 40s at the shorepoints. when all is said and done, we should get up into the mid 50s. 509 spectacular afternoon anticipated for the delaware valley. 37 degrees in philadelphia. dewpoint, 33. winds are calm, pressure reading holding steady. atlantic city and sea isle city, higher than 42 our normal high. every now and then you pick up a wind speed of 2 to 3 miles per hour. the only reason i'm showing you, i want you to notice the direction from which the winds are blowing. it's out of the west/southwest

that's a warm wind for this time of year. it's tapping into the winds out of the carolinas. the entire region shoots into the 50s. it's going to be a gorgeous start to the weekend. the wider view shows there's not too much going on. you can see showers out here. that switches over to light snow west of the line. the jet stream pattern overall looks like. the dip is out to the west. we come up over here, it's almost like the seesaw. the temperatures go down out there, they climb up along the east coast. that means mild here and cold out here. that's the way things will stay over the next couple of days. eventsly things shift east, but from now until then we have nice weather. i showed you this earlier. christmas eve we shot up to 64 degrees, prior to this year it only happened 3 other times in the past 40 years. once in 2008, 1996, 1990.

what does in a mean in terms of snow for that winter season from that point on? we take all the numbers you add them up and average them out. normally we should see 23 inches of snow. when we got up to 64 on christmas eve, they would only see 15 inches of snow. right now the pattern that we're in is similar to these three years that would suggest lower numbers of snow. the reason for that is this guy right here, the pacific jet continues to roar across the country. a lot of energy out here, this is very mild air, as that is pushing across the country. it bottles all the cold air up here to the north. it doesn't allow it to come down. we need this pacific jet to relax that will allow the jet stream to look something more
