december-like weather that arrives later this week. i'll have the details 23489 seven day forecast in just a little bit. >> now to the latest on the developing story. the search for a missing air asia plane in the waters off indonesia has been called off for the night. there's no sign of the plane with 162 people on board. 8501 was half away along from the indonesia second largest city on its way to singapore. weather may have been a factor. >> reporter: this is the asia airbus that disappeared from radar. search crews look for signs of aircraft which was flying through strong weather. air asia said in a statement at the present time we have no further information regarding the status of the passengers and crew members on board but we'll keep all parties informed as

more information becomes available. the majority of the 161 on board were indonesiaians including 16 children and infant. it took off heading for singapore, it ran into severe weather with the pilot asking to turn left around clouds and significantly increase his attitude from 32,000 feet to 38,000 feet over the java sea the last time the jet commune indicated with the controllers. two aircraft were used to search during the daylight hours. the 6-year-old jet has a good safety record, as does the carrier. air asia is running an americancy call center for family and friends and waiting areas in singapore where the plane was supposed to land. stark contrast 390.

plane's flight path to the left. aviation experts call the disappearance baffling. >> pilots work in these kinds of conditions all the time. it's baffling, but there's a lot of questions here. >> a-320 has been in service for 6 years and has a good safety record. the night sky forced aircraft searching for the plane to call off their search until tomorrow. now another story near the greek isles where helicopters and other ships are trying to reach it where a fire has broken out. hundreds of passengers are trapped on the top of the deck, a life boat carrying 100 passengers had been lowered into
