steven woodson followed a woman into the garage at 17th and callowhill yesterday morning. she was robbed, beaten unconscious and sexually assaulted before she was able to break free and yell for help. a married couple driving into the garage spotted her. the woman helped the injured victim while the man chased after the suspect. >> this victim might not be able to talk to us today if it wasn't for our two witnesses. >> woodson was captured on the sidewalk just outside. the suspect does have prior arrests. police say he was in philadelphia to visit his grandparents. >> a possible gas leak has forced the evacuation of a holmesburg bank today. firefighters responded to the wells fargo branch on the 1800 block of frankford avenue just before noon. customers and nine workers were told to leave that building. pgw was called out to investigate and no one was hurt here. >> time now for a check of the accuweather forecast. >> yes, clouds are starting to come in. not as great as it was yesterday but not a bad day at

all. cecily tynan standing by live outside. >> reporter: hi. 2015 so good so far. it's been dry it's been seasonable. things will be changing though over the weekend. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing this low pressure near houston and that's beginning to tap into moisture from the gulf of mexico. that low pressure is making a beeline up towards chicago and that will bring us a wet weekend and also a one-day surge in temperatures and one thing about this storm system, it's moving a lot faster than anticipated so future tracker showing 1 o'clock tomorrow morning the clouds are in place, that moisture is to our west but it's moving in pretty quickly and there will be a wedge of some cold air in some of our suburbs. the national weather service has issued winter weather advisories for those counties you see in purple. it goes into effect at 7 o'clock in the morning for lancaster county and at noon for the poconos and this is for the possibility of some sleet and freezing rain before

that changeover to rain in those counties. so, this is what to expect here for the weekend storm. again, it's moving a little bit faster. so, instead of the afternoon the moisture will be moving in in the mid to late morning between about 9:00 and 11 o'clock in the morning. a brief mix along the pennsylvania turnpike and areas up to the north before that changeover to rain. philadelphia this is going to be a rain event. all rain everywhere by the afternoon and we're looking at a good soaking about a half inch to an inch of rain. sunday will be damp and very warm before temperatures really nose dive next week. i'll talk about that in the full accuweather forecast. sharrie. >> thank you cecily. search teams recovered 30 bodies from the site of the airasia flight 8501 disaster. many of the bodies found today were spotted by a u.s. navy ship. some were still belted in their seats. boats are scouring the ocean floor trying to find wreckage and the plane's black boxes. teams are battling heavy rains and wind.

there were 162 people on board when the plane crashed sunday. in italy firefighters boarded a ferry to search for victims of a fire that broke out on sunday. that fire claimed the lives of at least 11 people. the ferry was traveling from greece to italy when it happened. 477 people were rescued. mostly by helicopter. >> new york police department is preparing today to bury the second of two officers shot and killed last month in the line of duty and with that burden they're also dealing with continued threats to officers' safety. in the past two weeks there have been nearly 100 threats being serious enough to warrant a closer look. there have been more than 20 arrests stemming from those including a man who called 911 asking officers to be sent to his apartment so he could kill them. the funeral for officer wenjan liu is set now for sunday. >> the world of politics has lost a titan. mario cuomo former three term governor of new york passed away yesterday at the age of 82.

partly cloudy skies. so the cold air is in place tonight. warmer air will gradually be moving in as the storm system moves up to the west. but the problem is that you get that wedge of cold air at the surface. when the precipitation first moves in around the pennsylvania turnpike and areas north, it will begin as a mix of some sleet and freezing rain. looks like it will be moving in between about 9 o'clock and 1 o'clock so there will be a few slick spots so do be careful if you're traveling tomorrow morning until early in the afternoon. looks like it will probably even linger a little bit longer in the poconos. so this really tells the story. future tracker showing by 10 o'clock in the morning rain in philadelphia, areas to the south, mix to the north and the west but then the storm system as it widens up to the west pulls in the warmer air. by 3 o'clock a changeover to all rain except for the poconos where that mix will linger and that then rain will continue into saturday evening and even into sunday morning but the storm system is moving a little bit faster so

"action news" was there this morning as 18-year-old michael shelley surrendered to police. he's accused of running over 16 year old as she tried to board her school bus last month. for more now on the case against shellie we turn to "action news" reporter annie mccormack live this afternoon in bensalem. hi annie. >> reporter: hi, brian. bensalem police say they knew shelley was responsible from the begin. he stopped at the scene and he has been cooperating with police. they tell us this was an investigation with a lot of parts they have to be thorough and that's why it took two weeks to bring charges against him. 18 year old michael shelley had nothing to say as he headed in to surrender at bensalem police headquarters. this afternoon he was in bucks county prison charged with a slew of offenses including homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter for the death of a 16 year old bensalem high school killed as she crossed bensalem boulevard to catch her school bus.

police say on december 17th just after 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of bensalem boulevard and bridgewater road shelley admits on his way to bucks county technical school he drove through the intersection after seeing the stopped bus. >> there's no doubt in my mind he went through a school bus that was proper -- had its lights properly activated and the arm was exposed. >> reporter: according to an affidavit after stopping at the scene he told authorities he hit the brakes when he saw a kid run by telling them "i think i killed her. his ford bronco is not registered h-no insurance and had counterfeit inspection stickers. he admitted his speedometer and defroster hadn't worked. he said i... quote. >> michael feels very bad obviously for the death of someone who is a classmate of his and when the facts come

threat is being umped to call septa police at the number that's on your screen. police release new video of two men who robbed a north philadelphia convenience store at gunpoint. both thieves wore masks while they threatened the woman working behind the counter at the food market on germantown avenue. the clerk locked herself in a back room and at 1.1 of the suspects tried to kick in the door before both men left with cash. anyone with information should give philadelphia police a call. >> a fast moving fire burned out several tenants from their row home in port richmond early this morning. smoke poured from the second and third floors of the home on the 2000 block of east madison avenue. this after a fire sparked around 4:30 this morning. crews made quick work of that blaze getting it under control in about 15 minutes. nobody was hurt but those who rent rooms in the row home were displaced. >> january fully under way. only second day. >> i know. >> new year, though. >> goes by fast.

we'll be back to normal. here's a look at the schuylkill expressway right around gladwyne. westbound lanes couple more minutes than eastbound lanes but really only taking about 20 minutes to go from the vine street expressway out to the blue route right now. and taking a look at the big picture, speeds across the region nice and high, in the visits on the blue route. southbound on 95 around the airport looking really good, around 55 miles per hour. even 95 up around the vine street expressway about 33 miles per hour which is really great for a friday afternoon. martin luther king drive near eakins oval underneath the spring garden street overpass there's a stuck tractor-trailer there causing some problems. that will be out there for quite some time. so keep that in mind. and taking a look at mass transit we have a few modified schedules today. regional rails has modified service. new jersey transit has a modified weekday schedule and patco is running on a holiday schedule. taking a look at the area bridges, everything is nice and clear. you can see walt whitman bridge, betsy ross, ben franklin and the tacony

6 live double scan, today though, the calm before the storm. we have rain free conditions despite the fact that the moisture is beginning to build in the form of clouds. right now philadelphia 42 degrees. allentown 40. wilmington 41. trenton 41 and millville 42 degrees so seasonable today. little bit of a breeze. wind chills generally in the mid 30's. satellite 6 along with action radar showing you can see this moisture beginning to build to our south and west ahead of that storm system and that storm system is moving a little bit faster than anticipated so that means the rain will be moving in during the morning hours and the problem really north and west of the pennsylvania turnpike there's going to be cold air at the surface so that will begin as a form of sleet and freezing rain. northern chester county, western montgomery county, upper bucks county and areas up to the north and the west. as long as the roads are treated, i don't anticipate any major problems 'cause it will be changing over to plain rain by the afternoon. future tracker showing around 10:30 in the morning rain

along i-95 areas south and west that mix to the north and west and then it all changes over by about 3 o'clock. except for the poconos where it will take longer to change over to rain. it continues saturday evening by 11 o'clock some moisture to the north across the real and the poconos in the form of rain. then heading into sunday sunday a lot of the moisture will be gone so we're looking at plenty of clouds with some periods of drizzle here or there. but then a cold front will move through in the afternoon and we'll get another round of rain ahead of that by 3:30 and then it will gradually move off shore by about 9 o'clock. so we're looking at the storm system starting around 9 o'clock saturday morning until 9 o'clock sunday evening so that's about 36 hours mainly a rain event. a half inch to an inch of rain and with that surge of warm air on sunday, the afternoon high up near record high 64 degrees is what i'm forecasting, a record high,

there yesterday morning around 10:30, a young woman was being dropped off at her car on the second level when she was sexually assaulted. today extra security officers man the parking garage where 33-year-old woman was raped yesterday morning. investigators say steven woodson is the man behind the brutal attack. >> she was savagely beaten she was at one point she lost consciousness and when she came to, this male was on top going through her pocketbook. >> reporter: police say woodson then demanded the victim take off her clothes and sexually assaulted her. she fought and broke free. it was interrupted by a husband and wife who pulled into the lot. >> they immediately without hesitation opened themselves up to the victim, got that victim secured in a car took care of her while the other victim -- while the other witness actually pursued and called 911 at the same time. >> reporter: woodson was taken into custody around the corner at 17th and spring
