shock and it happened right there yesterday morning around 10:30, a young woman was being dropped off at her car on the second level when she was sexually assaulted. today extra security officers man the parking garage where 33-year-old woman was raped yesterday morning. investigators say steven woodson is the man behind the brutal attack. >> she was savagely beaten she was at one point she lost consciousness and when she came to, this male was on top going through her pocketbook. >> reporter: police say woodson then demanded the victim take off her clothes and sexually assaulted her. she fought and broke free. it was interrupted by a husband and wife who pulled into the lot. >> they immediately without hesitation opened themselves up to the victim, got that victim secured in a car took care of her while the other victim -- while the other witness actually pursued and called 911 at the same time. >> reporter: woodson was taken into custody around the corner at 17th and spring

garden. police say they found items from the victim on him. court records show he has prior arrests for lewdness and robbery. police say he was in town from pittsburgh visiting his grandparents. today here in spring garden, there's a general sense of uneasiness. >> it's just terrible. you can't even walk the streets anymore. you really can can't. >> scary. it was a shock. it was scary, you know, especially when you have a wife and other people have a wife in a situation like that. places you spend money at living and then all of a sudden something like this happens. >> reporter: and police say dna sample was taken from woodson. it will be input into a national database to see if he's connected to any other crimes. at this point he doesn't appear to be a suspect in any open cases in philadelphia. i'm live in spring garden, chad pradelli, channel6 "action news." >> all right thank you chad. philadelphia police are looking for a bank robbery suspect. he targeted the citizens bank

on ridge avenue in the city's andorra neighborhood. suspect was wearing a dark green cap a beige winter coat and dark blue jeans. he was last seen running from the bank after taking two grand in cash from a teller. two people diagnosed with hepatitis a in south jersey are now recovering at home. public health officials met with residents in hamilton township mercer county this afternoon to talk about these new cases. both people were connected to rosa's restaurant and catering where a food handler first contracted the virus in november. hepatitis a is rarely fatal but it is highly contagious and symptoms can appear two to six weeks after exposure. if you have any concerns, you are urged to see your doctor. authorities have identified the human remains discovered earlier this week in berks county. a person walking in amity township on monday found skeletal remains. today the coroner confirmed

that the remains belonged to robert cass. the cause of death remains under investigation but it doesn't appear to be suspicious. the 18-year-old driver charged with hit and killing a teenaged girl in bucks county is behind bars. michael shelley arrived at bensalem police headquarters this morning where he was charged with homicide by vehicle. investigators say he struck and killed 16-year-old minete zeka last month as she was trying to board her school bus in bensalem. shelley is being held on a $500,000 bond. 19-year-old arrested for hiding in montgomery county inside of a target and also for stealing electronics. cheltenham police say isaiah bell of philadelphia was spotted late last night by security at the target on the 2400 block of shoppers lane in

wyncote. security watched him put several items into a duffle bag. police surrounded the store and then went in to find the suspect. canine officers found bell hiding under a christmas display. >> first weekend of 2015 got off to a dry start at least today. >> yeah, but that's all going to change come tomorrow. meteorologist cecily tynan is at the "action news" big board with the details from storm tracker 6 double scan. >> hi, sharrie and mon today. it will be changing in a big way tomorrow. storm trackerstorm tracker 6 live double scan showing locally we have dry conditions. high thin clouds building in ahead of a storm system but as you widen out you can see there's plenty of moisture with this storm. that low pressure is near houston. that will be riding up towards chicago so that will pull in moisture from the gulf of mexico and the atlantic. it will also be pulling in warmer air. the problem though, is that this storm system is moving a little bit faster so as it first pushes in there will be a wedge of some cold air at the surface in some of our northwest suburbs.

the national weather service has posted a winter weather advisory for lancaster county tomorrow that begins at 7 o'clock in the morning and for the poconos that begins at noon for a combination of sleet and freezing rain before a gradual rain from the south to the north -- turns to rain from the south to north as we head through the day. future tracker showing 10 o'clock tomorrow morning the moisture is here. philadelphia areas south and west it's rain but then you can see that mix in the northwest suburbs. it changes over to all rain in the afternoon but this the is a long duration event. it's not going to be rain all weekend long but it won't be completely pulling out until sunday evening. so, this is what to expect. that moisture begins between about 9 o'clock and 11 o'clock tomorrow morning. philadelphia it will be rain but a brief mix mainly the pennsylvania turnpike and areas north. all rain by the afternoon. a half inch to an inch of rain and sunday won't be quite as wet as saturday and sunday

glam dramatic images out of illinois. this is was the scene as firefighters battled flames after a home exploded. shortly afternoon. this community is about 30 miles outside of chicago. officials confirm that one person was killed in the blast and there are two survivors. the investigation as to how this all started is still ongoing. indonesian authorities have now identified the remains of four more victims of the airasia flight 8501. so far a total of 30 bodies have been recovered. this is video of one of the ceremonies in which remains are returned to the victims' loved ones. the plane disappeared sunday with 162 people on board. much more on the search for the wreckage coming up. >> some possible can candidates for the 2016 presidential race are getting closer to making an official decision about running. new york surgeon ben carson says he is studying up on the issues and he's slated to

announce a decision on running before may first. in the past carson has said the likelihood is strong that he'll seek the republican nomination. more than 100 million or rather 1 million undocumented immigrants are expected to apply for driver's licenses today in california. it is the first state it is legal to do so in that state. abc 's john ehrlich man live with more on that policy change. good evening, john. >> reporter: hi, monica. it's definitely a big development and one that the authorities hope will bring more safety to the roads. at the l.a. area dmv people filing in for the first opportunity for undocumented immigrants to get a california driver's license legally. some lining up overnight. >> i feel like it's the right thing to do. people are driving anyway whether it's legal or not. so, why not do it the right way. why not pay for it and it will be saver. >> reporter: the dmv looked at 23 years worth of crash data and found unlicensed drivers were more likely to cause a fatal collision than

exercising at home when some of his equipment caused him to fall. reid broke several bones near his right eye as well as several ribs. the senator is expected to make a full recovery and to return to washington this weekend. you two front man bono says he is unsure if he will be able to play the guitar again. he has been recovering recovering from injuries he suffered in a bicycle accident in new york city. the singer broke his arm in six spots and he fractured his eye socket and also his shoulder blade in a black entry bono says his recovery has been more difficult than he thought. he says his band mates had been supportive and he's committed to being physically ready for the you two tour. >> this year's flu outbreak has reached epidemic levels. at least 15 children have died so far and there's concern those numbers could rise. earlier this week the cdc reported high flu activity in 22 states. with this year's vaccine being less effective flu related

>> yeah, this is man-made snow. this is bear creek in berks county. this is a live snapshot and you can see how yes they do have a man-made snow on the trails and a lot of folks in the lift line taking advantage of the second day of the of 2015. dry conditions today. however, if you're heading up to the poconos to do some skiing tomorrow, it's going to get messy. snow will be arriving late in the morning but then by the afternoon it will be changing over to sleet and by tomorrow night it will be changing over to freezing rain. you want to be very careful driving in the poconos. at 10 o'clock 27 degrees. by 2 o'clock 32 degrees and temperatures will be rising above freezing there. current cannily in philadelphia 42 degrees, a high of 443 degrees above normal. a little bit on the mild side. trenton 38 allentown 36 and reading 38 degrees. satellite 6 along with action radar showing this stream of moisture moving up from the south. that low pressure, that low that brought the snow to southern california, that's

now over houston and that will be tapping into moisture from the gulf of mexico. also pulling up warm air but before it arrives it's going to be cold tonight. tonight partly cloudy skies overnight low 29 degrees in philadelphia, 24 in millville 25 in allentown and 26 degrees in reading and in the far northwest suburbs where it's going to be colder when the moisture arrives initially it will come in the form of some sleet and freezing rain. a brief mix. so the pennsylvania turnpike and areas north really the areas i'm more concerned about being some freezing rain and sleet. this will happen between about 9 o'clock in the morning and 1 o'clock in the afternoon. a lot of the roads are treated but do be careful. there could be a few slicks spots especially over the bridges and overpasses but even there it will change over to rain by the afternoon. future tracker showing the storm moving a little faster than anticipated the the moisture is here by about 10 o'clock in the morning. i-95 corridor and areas south and east it will come in the

a somber day in one south jersey community as they say goodbye to a little boy who died in a tragic accident. convenience store clerk is ambushed by two masked gunmen looking for money. it was all caught on tape. plus recovery teams make progress in the search for the victims and debris of airasia flight 8501. >> now the details. family and friends of 10-year-old matthew mccloskey paid tribute today to the little boy whose life was cut tragically short. the boy was struck and killed by a police cruise interfranklin township while walking to a sleep overlast weekend. today matthew's loved ones said goodbye and laid him to rest. home noun a tail spin. the agony pain and sorrow were on display as mourners file out of the church. it was stillest on the faces of matt mccloskey's family, his mother and all those who came to support them and pay respects today. for the boy's family, this is the worst day so far. >> it's very hard. they're -- i'd like to say they're holding up well but they're. no it's very tough. >> enormous tragedy for everyone in franklinville, for everyone all the children. >> i have a couple little girls that live with me and they go to the same school with matthew. >> reporter: 10 year old matthew mccloskey died sunday night when he was hit by a franklin township police cruiser while walking with friends to a sleep over. the patrol car was given by officer placed on desk duty pending the investigation. there are questions as to whether the cruiser's emergency lights and siren were on when the boy was hit.

police dispatched for a unruly juvenile. >> the whole town is upset. the police officer on routine you know, i mean, the family of the little boy going to a sleepover. >> cute little kid. he was very athletic and funny. yeah law a good kid. >> reporter: the cremation ceremony for matthew mccloskey will be friday. live in williamstown, new jersey vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> okay vernon, thank you. a berks county family lost their home in a fast moving fire this morning. it happened along the 1000 block of gravel pike in her ford township. authorities say one of three sewing machines plug need one outlet in the kitchen area sparked and caught fire. one of the owners was inside when the fire broke out. he was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

his wife though, was not home at the time. the home is a total loss. it's been nearly a week since airasia flight 8501 went down in the waters off indonesia and for searchers today was their most successful day yet. officials say the search area in the java sea is as big as the state of delaware. despite that, 21 more victims were pulled from the water today and a short letup in the bad weather also helped divers and search vessels look for debris on the ocean floor. abc's lana in new york with the latest. >> reporter: despite that bad weather that you mentioned, search teams were able to recover what they believed to be debris from inside the plane and this could represent a major step forward. recovery teams are making progress in the search for airasia 8501 tripling the number of bodies recovered bringing the total now to 30. >> the fact that they're finding more bodies, more pieces of wreckage tells us

we're honing in. >> reporter: it's a massive effort. 17 aircraft and 29 ships from several countries including the u.s. navy covering a wide swath of the search area the u.s.s. samson a high tech vessel outfitted with top of the line equipment. >> reporter: the director of indonesia's search and rescue agency says the american team doubled their expectations and now the agency says they're focusing their efforts on anker of a 1500 square nautical miles shrinking the search area to just one-tenth of yesterday's size and as search teams believe that they are honing in on the location of the plane each clue brings more questions than answers. >> the fact that people didn't have life preservers on means it was not a control ditching. the fact we have people strapped to their seats mean it wasn't a high speed impact and just exactly what it was and whether the airplane broke up in flight before it hit the water is still a big puzzle.

need the public's help in finding them. this is surveillance video from inside the food market store on germantown avenue back on december teachth. authorities say the suspects ruched many rushed in and threatened a female clerk behind the counter. after she handed over the cash she locked herself in a back room. as you can see there one of the suspects tried to kick in the door but eventually gave up and ran off. from our new jersey news room tonight cherry hill police are looking for this group of men. detectives say the four stole more than $7,000 in merchandise from the nordstrom's in cherry hill. these surveillance pictures are from monday night. authorities say this same group stole 24 watches from the nordstrom's in the christian christiana mall. >> dramatic decrease in violent crimes in the city of camden especially in one area. new report shows murders are down more than 50 percent from 2000 years ago. 32 people were killed in 2014

and while that number is still relatively high it's down from 67 murders in 2012. overall violent crime is down 21 percent in in twenty 13 the city police force was resolved and replaced by the new camden county police department and that freed up funds to put more officers on the street. the recent hacking scandal involving north korea and sony pictures is costing a lot of discussion about the u.s. ability to prevent cyber terrorism in the first place. homeland security security cyber committee chairman pat meehan stopped by "action news" to talk about cyber terrorism. he says the sony hack is a game changer in the world of terrorism. >> it was a state sponsored activity according to the fbi which i believe is accurate in which we sort of broken new ground. i think this is going to be perceived differently than the kinds of things we've seen before like the target identity theft. it's an escalation. >> meehan added it's important

that private companies and the federal government continue to communicate to stop such attacks. >> time to check on our commute. autumn marisa is in for matt pelman. hi autumn. >> hi, sharrie and mon today. we have an accident on the schuylkill expressway. it's a multi vehicle accident eastbound right at the conshohocken curve. taking out both lanes. making all vehicles pass on the shoulder. as you can see our travel times have now doubled from the blue route down to the vine street expressway. 95 northbound at cottman avenue we have an accident involving two vehicles there trying to get that out of the way but you can see it's causing quite a delay from the vine street expressway up through woodhaven right now taking about 35 minutes to do that commute. and the pennsylvania turnpike northbound as you're making your way up towards lansdale we have a car fire in the right-hand lane. keep that in mind and over in new jersey, haddon township crystal lake avenue between valley drive and macarthur boulevard we have an accident as well. taking a look at mass transit

better. officials are forecasting more snow through saturday along the sea of japan coast. they are also advising caution against avalanches, strong wind and high waves. >> not that much of the white stuff be maybe a tiny but but more rain. >> if we wandered a snowstorm that low pressure would have to track east. it's tracking to the west. >> perfect. >> and that pulls in warm air. this is mainly a rain event. some sleet and freezing rain in some of the northwest suburbs in the onset. mainly this will be rain. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing we don't have any rain or snow or really anything out there today. dry conditions. some cloud cover. the action cam taking a look at fairmount park where the sky is not quite as bright as yesterday. we saw the filtered sunshine through the thin clouds. those clouds all in advance of the storm system that is going to bring us a wet weekend. right now it's dry though. philadelphia 42 degrees. down from a high of 44 which is 3 degrees above normal.

temperatures just a little bit on the mild side. allentown 36. millville 39. wilmington 39. trenton 38 degrees and the poconos currently 30 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar you can see the stream of moisture beginning to develop to the south. the actual low pressure is near houston. it will track up near chicago. this will pull in moisture and some warm air but the problem tomorrow morning in our northwest suburbs is that there's a ridge of cold air at the surface and when that moisture first moves in it will likely begin as some sleet and freezing rain for about two to four hours generally along the pennsylvania turnpike and areas north and west. a the lo of the roads are treated but bridges and overpasses, there could be some slick spots before you get that changeover to rain in the afternoon. and the storm system is moving a little bit faster than anticipated so the morning is not going to be dry. the moisture is here by about 10:30. rain philadelphia areas south and east and some of that mix in the northwest suburbs. it changes all over to rain

really across our viewing area by the afternoon and then it continues into saturday night late saturday night most of the moisture moves up to the north. sunday morning not looking as wet as saturday. we're looking at plenty of clouds with some drizzle and then a cold front will be moving through on sunday afternoon and ahead of that we will get another reinforcing shot of some wet weather but when you also get wet ahead of that cold front a surge of warm air the record high for sunday, 68 set way back in 1950 and we are going to be close. i'm expecting a high up to 64 degrees but then behind that cold front it gets much colder next week. so the key point to the weekend, mainly rain event and it's pretty long duration lasting about 36 hours. a half inch to an inch of rain and behind this system we open a door for some arctic air that will be moving in during the week next week. the call from accuweather for your friday night the first friday night of 2015, partly cloudy it will be dry cold

"action news" with 18-year-old michael shelley as he entered bensalem police to surrender charged with a slew of offenses including homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter after police say he hit and killed minete zeka as the 16-year-old bensalem high sophomore tried to get on the bus. >> there's no doubt in my mind he went through a school bus that had its lights properly activated and the arm was exposed. >> reporter: shelley admitted seeing bus lights and said he braked when a kid ran by just after 6:30 a.m. on december 17th at the intersection of bensalem boulevard and bridgewater road. he stayed at the scene. according to an affidavit he told police "i think i killed her" and admitted his bronco
