>> good morning, it is 7:00 a.m., saturday, january 3. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." all new overnight the s.w.a.t team is called after a man barricades himself inside his bucks county home anticipate keeps police at bay for hours. we have information on a blaze that hurt three people and left two dozen homeless. soggy start to saturday before the rain moves in and warm weather before the temperatures plumb he let. meteorologist chris sowers is outside with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> reporter: good morning, eva. a little bit of everything in the seven-day forecast. we'll start out with a mixed bag north and west this morning. rain for the city and record-warmth temperature as we get into tomorrow. storm tracker 6 live double

scan the blue represents where we're seeing snow, sleet or the combination of the two or freezing rain mixed in in. the white would be the snow, the greens and yellows that's where we're seeing the rains. some of it is coming down at a pretty good clip across the virginias and the carolinas. we're seeing numbers throughout the entire area. initially as this mixed bag moves in. there could slick spots out to the northwest of center city. as the storm gets going the warm air starts flooding the region. fleetwood 25, pottstown 23. saint davids 29 center city and chester 30. big improvement here when i first went on the air at 5:30, glassboro was 22 and now you're up to 31. avalon 37 degrees. national weather service issued

a wintery weather advisory for the far western suburbs. lehigh north hampton and berks county. it will stay in effect until 6:00 p.m. 44 degrees is the forecasted high for philadelphia. winds out of the east at 5 to 10 miles per hour. there could some slick spots north and west early this morning as the precipitation arrives, everything will go over to rain by lunchtime. when i come back in we'll time it out in future tracker 6 and a big cool down in the seven day. bitter shot of arctic air. a man is on his way to a mental valuation after a standoff with police in bucks county. it ended on ice pond road. the suspect was threatening to kill his neighbor and siblings if his critically ill mom passed

away. his niece expressed concern about his mental health. when officers arrived he said he had 20 to 30 guns in the home. police backed off. swat officers saw ralph in the window and pulled him outer that way. his mom is in the hospital. philadelphia park is the latest murder scene someone shot someone in the head in strawberry mansion. police are questioning two men. investigators are looking for a third man. no word on who pulled the trigger and what led up to it. the victim unidentified was pronounced at temple university hospital. three people are in the hospital after being injured in a fire in southwest philadelphia. a 70-year-old man and younger woman jumped to save their lives. flames broke out at 68th and woodland around 9:15. the fire spread to two adjoining homes. >> we encounter a lot of fire,

but it was under control in 45 minutes. firefighters did a great job with the number of people they encountered and had to be rescued. >> police officers helped to get people out 70-year-old man was burned. him a woman hurt her leg. no word on what the third person is being treated for. the american red cross is offering shelter and clothing to the 19 residents affected by the fire. fire officials are trying to figure out the cause of the fire. a man has been charged with attacking and sexually assaulting a woman inside the garage at 17th and callowhill street. stephen woodson followed the victim into the garage where he robbed her, when she woke up he demanded her to remove her clothing and he sexually assaulted her. she fought him and yelled for help.

court records show he has prior arrests for lewdness and robbery. 18-year-old michael she willy -- she shelly is charged with running down a girl as she tried to get on the school bus weeks ago. his truck hit the 16-year-old his defroster was busted. he told police quote i basically had tunnel vision, i only had a small area to see out front. my side windows were fogged up. the 1984 ford bronco was not registered or insured. the inspection strickers were counterfeit and the speedometer was not working. >> there's no doubt in my mind he went through a school bus that had its lights activated and the arm was exposed. >> when the facts come out, it will be clear what happened. he wasn't intoxicated he wasn't high.

>> police say shelly stopped at the scene and said quote i think i killed her. investigators in houston texas are trying to figure out if police were targeted during a deadly crash. houston police say a speeding does an rammed into the back of a police cruiser parked on the short. the does an flipped over the retaining wall and fell to the ground below. the driver and passenger were killed. police say a passenger in that crash called the police that morning and said he would kill any officer who tried to arrest him. happening today mourners will pay their respect to slain new york police officer wenjian liu. wenjian liu and his partner rafael ramos were killed by a man who targeted police. officer rafael ramos was buried last weekend. wenjian liu's funeral was delayed so his family could fly

in from new york. the ceremony will be led by buddhist. a boy was hit and killed by a police car last weekend was laid to rest yesterday in williamstown gloucester county. >> i would like to say they are holding up well, but they are not. it's very tough. >> it's an enormous tragedy for everybody in franklinville for everyone all the children. >> reporter: matt that you was on his way to a sleepover when a franklin township cruiser hit him as he crossed the road. the officer is on paid leave while the prosecutor investigates whether the lights and sirens were on and the circumstances of that crash. undocumented immigrants can get a drivers license in california. yesterday marked the first day that the state law went into effect. the law requires dmv to issue

licenses to anyone who can approve they live in california or not. they must meet other requirements such as passing a driver test. the new law is getting mixed emotion. >> without being afraid of the police stopping me and giving me a ticket and having to pay a big amount of money. >> i think the leg -- >> reporter: they expect to process 1.4 million drivers license applications over the next three years. same-sex couples can get married in florida. aaron huntsman and william lee jones were the the first to get their license. a group is seeking an injunction

to block the ceremony. buckingham palace has denied a claim that prince andrew who is the duke of york had sex with a girl under the age of 18. an unidentified woman alleged that jeffrey epstein forced her to have sex in london and new york and private caribbean island owned by epstein. the alleged encounter took place between 1999 and 2002. two other women are part of the same civil suit against the scene. he is in prison on child sex offenses. still ahead on "action news" saturday morning a young girl miraclously walks away from a plane that killed everyone else on board in kentucky. a pileup caused by snow in new hampshire. >> reporter: we're expecting a

>> a picture captures a fiery deadly plane crash. four people died, a 7-year-old girl walked from the wreckage to a home to get help. the faa said the piper reported engine trouble and lost contact with air traffic control. the plane went down in the woods killing three passengers and the pilot. the plane was heading from florida to illinois. it is hoped that the girl can provide clues to the tragedy. sudden snowfall caused a traffic mess on a new hampshire highway. 35 vehicles were involved in two

separate pileups. one crash a tractor-trailer truck caught fire after a vehicle slid underneath it. authorities said there were injuries but none life threatening. it was an unusual situation because there wasn't a storm there. >> reporter: it would be like if you look at the delaware valley you would ski a squall over the city. the visibility went from ten miles down to nothing. that's what happens you get the whiteout conditions and you can't see and you get the accidents. they are making snow in spring mountain temperatures are cold enough we're down in the 20s this is the only way i get my snow so far this winter. we look live spring mountain and the areas in the poconos. we'll see wintery precipitation north and west, everything will go over to rain as the day wears on. it's yet another rainstorm for the delaware valley. storm tracker 6 live double scan we're clear, we have moisture to

across new england. maybe starting out as mixed bag of precipitation but it will change over to rain. the area of low pressure is right here. it's called a great lakes cutter it developed across the deep south. it is cutting north into the great lakes. it will pull the warm front with it. all of a sudden the winds will shift out of the southwest as we get into the overnight hours first thing tomorrow morning temperatures soar. shooting for a high of 64. some areas near 66 degrees. near record wanter as we get into sunday. this is a powerful front sunday night into monday. true arctic air rushes in monday tuesday and most of the up coming workweek. high temperatures by thursday, may struggle to reach 20 degrees. future tracker 6 gets a mixed bag to start things out 11:00 well north and west, there's philadelphia we're talking well, north and west of the city. there could slick spots out there, take it easy. 2:00 everybody changed over to

warmth temperatures. chris sowers is outside with not record temperatures. >> reporter: eva you would think with the temperatures we would be talking about a snowstorm. but temperatures 595,000 feet up temperatures are -- you get about 5,000 feet up, the temperatures are below freezing. that's where the precipitation is coming from, it will melt. maybe a mixed bag north and west to start but even they will go over to plain rain, as well. trenton, 29, wilmington, 33, dover, 37 and sea isle 43. here's storm tracker 6 live double scan, most of our viewing area is clear for now. you can see as we go farther to the west and harrisburg area, gettysburg reporting light snow and freezing rain and the movement is from southwest to northeast. it's moving in quickly so we

expect to see the first rain drops in the city probably by 9:30 a.m. now the leading edge is not reaching the ground, but start getting a little bit farther to the west, west of harrisburg and that moisture is. as it moves in. we see a mix bag north and west, rain for the city. everybody going over to plain rain by lunchtime. that brief mix will occur between 9:00 and lunchtime for aerials north of the pennsylvania turnpike. there could slick spots out there, as well. that's the kind of moisture it appears if it is raining but it freezes on contact with freezing roads. it will go over to cold, plain rain with temperatures above freezing. the rain comes down heavy at times this afternoon. when i step back inside i'll time it out with future tracker 6. we have near record warm temperatures tomorrow and bone chilling bitter told stuff by

thursday i'll show you that 2349 seven-day forecast in just a bit. eva? >> thanks, chris. breaking overnight camden police are investigating a double shooting which ended with a man taking his life outside the emergency room. he wounded a girl at the intersection of marlton pike and baird boulevard. the father rushed her to the hospital. as he was driving her there the suspect's car ran a red light. always he approached by police, he shotments. the woman and the man had been in a relationship. new throngs minutes ago police say they resolved a showdown between s.w.a.t teams and an armed man in bucks county. police say the suspect had 20 to 30 guns in the home along with his critically ill 90-year-old mother. police identified him as lawrence ralph. he lives on ice pond road in

levittown. his niece went to the police to express concern about his mental stability. when police arrived at the home, he refused to come out and said he had weapons inside. he threatened to kill someone if his mother passed away. they took him into custody for a mental health evaluation, his mother is being checked out at the hospital. fire ripped through three row homes injuring three people. the red cross is providing shelter for 19 residents displaced by the blaze at 68th near woodland. flames damaged three row homes. a 07-year-old man and woman jumped from the roof of the home. the man is hospitalized with burns, the woman is being treated for a leg injury. investigators are working to find out what sparked the fire. two new jersey state police troopers and another car collide in cumberland county. chopper 6hd was over the scene in the area of route 77 and big

oak road in upper deer field township. two state trooper vehicles and civilian vehicle were involved in the crash. one trooper was taken to the hospital. the other trooper and civilian were treated at the scene. an arrest was made in a deadly auto pedestrian accidents in the area. took two months before the charges were filed which happened october 4 at west field and rosedale avenue in camden. 53-year-old was killed crossing the road. 74-year-old faces charges of death by auto. toxicology tests say he had a blood alcohol level of over .2. philadelphia police released surveillance video of a vehicle that was involved in a deadly hit-and-run two days before christmas. they hope someone recognizes the vehicle and that leads to an arrest. sharrie williams has more.

>> it appear to say to be an orderly model vehicle like you would see in an older movie. >> reporter: a new clue for philadelphia police to work with this surveillance video was captured from a business along state road. that night frees is a -- teresa posey was trying to cross the road she made it to the center lane the model orderly -- older truck struck her and killed her. the vehicle has a unique shape detectives hope someone will recognize the pick up and call in. >> we never stop looking or investigating. but the sooner we get information, the better, that's why we're asking for the public's help. >> reporter: "action news" spoke with the family after the deadly

slowed the search. the white house was fired back to north korea for the alleged cyber attack against sony. the sanctions will freeze their assets in the u.s. and bars them from doing business here. the move is symbolic since north korea is heavily sanctioned because because of its nuclear program. congressman pat meehan stopped by "action news" to talk about cyber terrorism. he call also the sony hack a game changer in the world of terrorism. >> it was a state sponsored activity according to fbi which i believe is accurate in which we broken new ground. i think this is going to be perceived differently than the kinds of things we've seen before than the target identity theft. it's an escalation. >> congressman meehan added that private companies and the

>> a canadian tourist had to be rescued from a zip line in las vegas. he dangled from a ride 90 feet off the ground for almost an hour. something caused the trolly that runs along the cable that is attached to the ryder to jam. firefighters needed a basket to pull the tourist to safety. the ride is back open.

>> doubt he'll be getting on that ride ever again. >> reporter: if i was next in line i wouldn't be getting on that either. holy smoke. let's go live on sky 6. we have a mixed bag in parts of the region today. temperatures are cold as we look at the battleship new jersey. it will be warmer over the next couple of hours. this will be in the form of rain. reading, 26. trenton, 29. dover and sea isle city, already in the mid 30s all this is pulling to the north. poconos 22. here's storm tracker 6 live double scan the immediate philadelphia area is clear but we are starting to see snow showers pushing through harrisburg york and gettysburg sleet and freezing rain. all this is pushing east, it should arrive by probably 9:00 9:30 and we start to see the

rain overspread the area as the milder temperatures move in. it's partly of a system developing across the southern missouri valley. southwestern posheses of missouri. -- southwestern portions of missouri. this is called a great lakes cutter. this will pull north into the great lakes that will pull the mild air up the entire seaboard. even though we may see mixed bag north and west, it will turn to rain. 33 in wichita five in bismarck. this could be sunday's high temperature, 64 degrees again as this mild air pulls to the north. that storm developing in the missouri valley will pull this into the lower 48. because of lack of snow cover across the high plains this will modify a bit, it will be good enough to produce the coldest air of the season thus far in the mid atlantic and the northeast. surface maps looks like.

this is a rain event for the majority of area. some of us could see a mixed bag to start. warm front pulls through temperatures in the mid 60s southwesterly winds picking up, penders of -- periods of rain, patchy fog. the arctic front arrives in the evening hours and the temperatures start to crash. there is philadelphia there we're talking areas well west, allentown, poconos going over to plain rain at 2:30. it's rain and it's heavy at times. the rain diminishing a little bit we go cloudy overnight and areas of fog. it's a cloudy and miserable type day, but mild with the temperatures in the 60s. here's what to expect for today precipitation begins 9:00 to 11:00 southwest to northeast. brief mixture pennsylvania turnpike areas north and west.

>> in "healthcheck" this morning, dozens of people are taking precaution after two more cases of hepatitis a were diagnosed in mercer county. a hair salon worker and fitness instructor in hamilton township had fallen i ill and unknowingly infected others. ali gorman has the details. >> reporter: two dozen residents came to ask question after two more cases of hepatitis a were reported in hamilton township. one of the woman a 60-year-old fitness instructor at the ymca in hamilton. >> i'm a member of the y and i was interested in finding out where the locale was the instructor taught fitness. >> reporter: the risk to numbers to both gyms is minimal.

both facilities are disinfected daily. the hair port salon was cleaned today. the other infected patient is a 53-year-old hair stylist there. when i saw hair port i knew i was involved. >> reporter: this man got the vaccine. the employees and patron are at the same risk, hepatitis a is spread by fecal matter coming in contact with your mouth. both ate at rosa's restaurant, but officials are not sure that where they picked up the virus. it is not fatal but can cause severe symptoms nausea, die ye and abdominal pain.
