search for shane montgomery. his family confirms a body discovered today in the schuylkill river is that of the missing college student. saturday night, i'm walter perez and the big story on "action news" is ending the shane montgomery family dreaded the mostch the missing college student's body was found by differs today less than a mile from where he was last scene. "action news" reporter annie mccormick has been gathering reaction to the tragic development. we begin with ken live at the scene, kenneth. >> reporter: walter, right now the body of shane montgomery is at the medical sent to determine the cause of death. we don't know the condition of his body but we know how he was found behind manayunk brewing company. on this stretch of the schuylkill river in manayunk a discovery many in this community thought was inevitable and never wanted to see. saturday drivers pull the body of missing 20-year-old west chester senior shane montgomery from the waters. >> that's why we do this.

to find family's loved ones and bring them back. >> he was found garden state underwater recovery unit 11:30 a.m. near main street and sheers lane. his family and their pastor watched from the business. differs told us the young man was on the bottom of the river about ten feet from the shore. >> where he was was about waist deep center of river there's holes 8 10 foot deep for the most part it's 6, 7 foot. >> it's been nearly 0 days since shane disappeared wednesday morning after a night out with friends. he was last seep as kill dare's pub. the search has been exhaustive and teams of differs in the waters for weeks and fbi working with philadelphia police. breaks came when his keys were found before christmas in the water and days gr that investigators saw surveillance of him stumbling across this bridge towards the water at killdare's. they felt invested in the search

gave up green ribbons which was his favorite color. this christmas tree is covered in the ribbons and green lights. it's one show of support from the church and also from the community who today says they're heartbroken along with his family. today we have done what we have promised we have found and brought shane home. >> shane montgomery's parents fought tears to say thank you shortly after volunteer differs discovered their 21-year-old son. >> we want to thank everyone for their support and prayers and love and ask they continue to pray for our family at this trying time. >> the people of manyunk and shane's native roxboro put flyers in shop windows and substituted annual tree lighting for candlelight vigil during the west chester university student's disappearances. a reward grew to more than $60,000 with the help of local businesses and his parish, st. john the baptist, became ground zero for volunteer search and rescue operations out of the
