a and rick. the withy big problem with this system is not the amount of snow. accumulations will be light. it's the fact that the bulk of that will be occurring during the morning commute. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing us this is what's known as an alberta clipper it's a fast moving low pressure, doesn't have a lot of moisture with it and this will be diving to the south. now parts of the midwest will get 3 to 6 inches from this system but the mountains will tend to really weaken so we're looking at light accumulations but any accumulation when temperatures are dropping quickly can cause some problems. the national weather service has issued winter weather advisories for light snow along the i-95 corridor and all areas to the south and east from 5 o'clock tomorrow morning until 4 o'clock in the afternoon. and this is is coming with some very cold air. right now philadelphia is 32 degrees. millville 33. allentown 27. wilmington 31. a big change from yesterday when some areas made it into the 60's. future tracker showing 7 o'clock tomorrow morning across-the-board temperatures

will be in the 20's and even into the afternoon we will be below freezing. so, when you get temperatures this cold, with the snow, snow will be sticking immediately to untreated surfaces. so the key points with tomorrow's system is a fluffy light snow that will coat surfaces very quickly and moves in between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock in the morning right in time for the morning commute. it will gradually diminish in the afternoon it will be all out of here between 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock in the afternoon and again, we're not talking about a lot of snow, generally 1 to 2 inches of snow but for philadelphia this will be the biggest snow of the season so far. i'll talk about really the bigger issue the blustery cold conditions that follow coming up in the full accuweather forecast. rick. >> all right cecily we'll check back in later. thank you. don't forget the "action news" morning team will have the latest forecast and traffic conditions so tune in starting at 4:30 tomorrow morning as they help you get out the door. >> there has been a break in the weekend murder of a philadelphia limo driver. less than 48 hours after the shooting, police say they have

now caught one of the suspects. sarah bloomquist live with that story for us. >> reporter: 20 year old alonzo dell guard -- dilligard. police are questioning a second suspect and out right now looking for a third then do know who they're looking for. this was a brutal crime this young father trying to support his family killed for just the $30 he had in his pocket. police say 20-year-old alonzo dilligard of yeadon is the gunman who pulled the trigger shooting 26-year-old mijael rodriguez in the back of the head killing him. saturday evening around 7 o'clock police responded to 54th and dell lanes in west philadelphia. on a report of a shooting. they found rodriguez dead behind the wheel of the chrysler 300 he drove for a living. his fiancé had been riding at

his side and witnessed the murder. today police say rodriguez had been dispatched to pick up three men. they told him first to drive to a home in yeadon then redirector him to 54th and delancey. that's when police say dilligard drought weapon. >> he told the male if you don't give me everything you have i'm going to kill her. with that he instantly started going through this pockets. he pulled out everything he had, $30. he said i have nothing else. please don't hurt her i have nothing else. >> reporter: as the three men exited the car police say dilligard fired the fatal shot and they fled. last night family members told us rodriguez had only recently taken the job with the law for america car company to support his fiancé the couple's five month old baby girl. >> he was such a kind person. he didn't have any problems with nobody. >> reporter: now police say it didn't take them long to solve this crime because somebody who knew the the

three young men saw them getting into the limo in north philadelphia and there was surveillance video to back up that williams' account. live in police headquarters, i'm sarah bloomquist, channel6 "action news." >> thank you sarah. new castle county police hope you recognize the thief who stole a woman's bank card. this is the suspect. take a good look. investigators spotted him using that debit card on surveillance video in multiple locations. the victim first reported the fraudulent activity last month. police wander to get this man off the streets. if you recognize him, call please new castle county police. >> the flu virus continues to spread across our area and many local hospitals and urgent care centers were filled over the weekends with patients miserable with flu-like symptoms. >> tough tim. registered nurse ali gorman at the big board with more on that and how to protect yourself. >> reporter: we've seen a spike in activity across the nation. this latest map from the ckc shows 29 states have high flu

activity up from 22 states last week. and it includes new jersey, pennsylvania and delaware. but even without this map just talking to people, it is clear the flu is going around. urgent care centers across the delaware valley saw a record number of patients over the weekend. doctors say the top diagnoses are viral bronchitis and the flu. unlike the common cold, flu symptoms come on quickly. >> whereas an influenza you'll be feeling well in the morning and you'll feel terrible at the end of the day. those abrupt symptoms include fever, body aches sore throats and cough. tamiflu can lessen the severity of symptoms if it's given in the first 48 hours. dr. graham johnson of the springfield care center recommends this especially for people at high risk for complications, such as the very young very old

president-elect women and anyone with a compromised immune system. a bad flu season is expected because the predominant strain h3n2 is known to cause severe illness and because so far the vaccine only offers 31 percent protection against this strain. but experts say the vaccine is still recommended. >> reno it isn't a good match for h3n2 getting vaccinated can give you cross protection. it can be the difference between getting sick and just being mildly sick, the difference between being hospitalized or not. >> reporter: practice good hygiene. >> wash your hands don't touch memorial grains of the eyes nose, mouth. another tip of course is to stay away from others who are sick and disinfect all those common surfaces. now, as for the vac teens i heard a lot of people who got the shot this year say it was a waste. and that's not the case. it is true that it's not a good match for the main strain going around but we are seeing

two other strains going around including h1n1 and the vaccine does protect against those strains. sharrie more at 6 o'clock. >> okay ali thanks. we'll see you then. new questions about the future of what was once the revel casino in atlantic city. today a federal judge approved the sale of the casino to a runner up bidder in last year's bankruptcy court auction. the approved auction price was $95 million. but the buyer florida developer len straub now says he doesn't want the casino at that price. the judge said straub's bid is legally binding and that is the price he'll have to pay. straub's attorney plans to seek a court order to block the sale. good news on the business front for the city of philadelphia. ford is making the city its permanent home of its annual under 30 summit. last year's summit featured the first ever public of monica lewinsky.

under tight security today the first of 1200 potential jurors came face to face with accused boston marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev. among the questions each have to answer could they be impartial and would they be willing to impoles the death penalty if tsarnaev is convicted. >> i want to seat death penalty. >> reporter: he's pleaded not guilty. he faces 30 charges in connection with the bombings in april of 2013 near the finish line of the boston marathon. his lawyers are expected to argue that the defendant who was 19 years old at the time acted under pressure from us older brother tam merlin. the defense's attempt to have the trial moved out of the boston failed. is it possible in here in boston for dzhokhar to get a fair trial. a judge contend despite the

falling temperatures. >> our weather is like a tom petty song. >> sing it. >> keep falling. >> matt said he would give me 20 bucks if i stopped singing. at midnight it was 50 degrees, 6 o'clock 42, noon 39 degrees and now temperatures free falling to 32 degrees and allentown it's even colder, 27 degrees. wilmington 31. millville 33. trenton 30 and sea isle city currenting 35 degrees. this is an amazing graphic. look at the temperature change since 24 hours ago. 22 degrees colder in philadelphia right now it's 29 degrees colder in dover and then it feels even colder when you factor in the winds. the wind chill makes it feel like 19 degrees if philadelphia, feels like 14 in allentown. 16 in reading. and the current wind chill in the poconos 8 degrees. so, this sets the stage for a clipper that will bring us some light accumulations of

snow tomorrow. satellite6 along with action radar showing we have pretty much clear skies here. that low pressure is moving out of the plains states. it's a fast moving system. they typically don't contain a lot of moisture and this will roll down to the south during the day tomorrow and this will bring on light accumulating snow. the problem will be the timing. most of the snow will be occurring in the new york in time for the morning commute. future tracker showing 7:30 tomorrow morning light snow pushing in across the northwest suburbs it overspreads the region by about 9 o'clock in the morning and then as we head into the afternoon it will gradually taper off by 4 o'clock it will be completely out of here and this will set the stage for the coldest air mass of the season. association this is what to expect. again, that start time between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock tomorrow morning generally we're looking at light accumulations, about one to 2-inches but that would be the biggest snowfall so far this season for philadelphia. the problem with the cold conditions the roads untreated, the accumulations will start immediately so you

do want to slow it down for your morning commute. allow plenty of extra time and definitely watch dave murphy beginning at 4:30 tomorrow morning and then prepare for a blustery cold day tomorrow. the call from accuweather for tonight t-it will be very cold increasing clouds, 21 degrees in philadelphia, millville 16, allentown 17, reading 18 and trenton 19 and the five day at 5:00 showing tomorrow that light snow, the high only 29 degrees, so we won't even make it to the freezing mark. on wednesday windy and cold, the high 28 degrees. i want to point out this number though. that is the low on thursday morning, 8 degrees for philadelphia. the record low for that date is two so not a record breaking but certainly unusually cold. thursday the high only 22 degrees. then on friday, some sunshine, breezy 33 degrees, another clipper could bring us a round of some flurries. saturday it stays cold with a high of 30 degrees. the temperatures will be moderating as we head through the weekend. melissa will talk about that in the accuweather 7-day

air of the season so far. it will not only bring us below freezing temperatures but also a fresh coating of snow. >> here we go. the timing of the storm will make that morning commute tomorrow pretty tricky. let's get the latest meteorologist melissa magee live at the big board with more from double scan raid today. hi melissa. >> hi, mon today hi rick. we're tracking that moisture on the move. it's a weak clipper system at that. it's starting to develop on storm tracker 6 live double scan 3-d the snow showers and the clipper system we're tracking still off to the west, northern plains diving south and eastward across the upper midwest. this will continue to work its way eastward overnight tonight and for the start of our day on tuesday with that we are tracking that light snowfall across the delaware and lehigh valleys so in anticipation of the moisture on the way national weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for the immediate suburbs north and west of town for southern chester montgomery and bucks as we are calling for light snow down into philadelphia, south jersey and delaware. so, the start time of this advisory going into effect will be 5:00 a.m. tomorrow

"action news" reporter walter perez is live outside of the

courthouse in doylestown with more on today's hearing. walter. >> reporter: well, rick, it was an unusual day in court for sure. tollefson faces a prospect of some very serious prison time if he's convicted. under the dealing he would have gotten roughly seven months in prison, seven months in a rehab hospital and seven no's a halfway house. instead, this case is going to trial. former sportscaster don tollefson insists that his only crime is falling short of his goal of helping local charities especially those that support disadvantaged kids. >> as i look back at my life working with those children, i loved them, it's a passion of mine and i will be able to describe at trial what happened. >> reporter: but prosecutors say tollefson's intentions were not so pure. they say he stole more than $300,000 by selling bogus sports themed trips. the proceeds of which were supposed to go to any number of charitable organizations but never did and the victims

say they never got their tickets. still, tollefson's court appointed attorney robert gold plan who serving only as an advisor says it's all a misunderstanding. >> there's no bad guys in this case. the facts are the facts. what this really is is a story of how you reach for the stars and -- and fell to the earth. >> reporter: now initially tollefson pleaded guilty but he withdrew that plea a few weeks ago and today serving as his own attorney he rejected a plea deal that would have amounted to less than two years of prison time. if convicted tollefson could be sentenced to as much as 20 years behind bars. the forecaster says he's confident. >> just look forward to the opportunity as mr. goldman said to tell my side of the story. >> reporter: 12 jurors have been selected, alternates are being chosen right now. this trial is expected to begin tomorrow morning. reporting live from doylestown, walter perez channel6 "action news." >> all right walter, thank you. philadelphia police are

looking for two men who were involved in a brutal beating on a center city street late last month. surveillance video was from 12th street near chestnut back on december 27. authorities say the two suspects were walk wind gust a group when they exchanged words with another group of people. after both sides walked away the two suspects allegedly went back and start add fight. one of the victims was beaten so badly he suffered bleeding to his brain. if you recognize either suspect you're asked to contact philadelphia police. >> federal corruption trial involving ironworkers local 41 union boss joseph dougherty is under way. jury listened to opening statements today. dougherty is accused of creating so-called goon squads to use strong arm tactics to force contractors to hire union workers. authorities say some of the tactics included setting fire to equipment damaging construction sites and more. 11 other members of local 401 have already pleaded guilty. jury selections under way in the murder trial of maple shade new jersey residents pedro hernandez.

hernandez is accused of kidnapping then killing six year old etan patz in 1979. the child's disappearances sparked a national campaign to feature missing children on milk cartons. hernandez confessed to the crime on videotape and his lawyers contends it was because of his mental illness. and from our delaware news room now this is a 24-year-old mark partly cloudy. detectives say he stole his grandmother's debit card to go on a shopping spree. parker is also accused of taking several of her checks forging her signature then cashing them. authorities say parker did feel badly afterwards about the crime. enough to apologize to his grandmother on facebook. he's now charged with forgery theft and conspiracy. >> well, nine people including several children are out of their homes tonight because of a fast moving fire. this burned out shell right here is all that's left here on the 3000 block of north leads street in feltonville. authorities say fire tour through the first and second floors.

it took firefighters about 15 minutes to get things under control but that's all it took to destroy the inside. fortunately no one was hurt. the cause under investigation tonight. police in cherry hill, new jersey, are investigating two separate incidents where explosive devices were found inside a mailboxes. the incidents happened over the weekend with one of the devices actually going off in front of a home here on the 1200 block of sequoia drive. no one was hurt in either incident. so far police have not released information about possible suspects. philadelphia mayor michael nutter looked ahead to the new year by reflecting what was learned in 2014. the mayor hosted a rear end public safety wrapup at city hall. nutter talked about the need for better communication and mutual respect between police and residents to ease tensions and improve neighborhoods. ly. >> citizens need the police. the police need the citizens and so how we enhance police and community community and

>> in nairobi kenya search crews continues digging pouring survivors following the collapse of an eight story residential building last night. at least two people were killed and 38 were injured when the walls and floors gave way. authorities say the building's upper floors were built quickly putting extra pressure on the lower floors. residents made it out told police they saw cracks in the walls before the collapse happened. now to an incredible survival story. a young girl who miraculously walked away from a small plane crash that killed her family. seven-year-old sailor gutzler is the sole survivor of a downed twin engine plane that crashed in kentucky. from the rubble and with a broken wrist she crawled to get help for her parents marty and ken her nine year old sister piper and 14-year-old cousin sierra in 38-degree weather and pitch darkness, the second grader made her way through the woods to a nearby

of 50 at midnight and for most of the day these temperatures have been falling so currently in philadelphia we're coming in in the lower 30's. well below average and just at the freezing mark. as we look at the current wind speeds that's the other part of the story winds sustained out of the west-northwest sustained 9 miles an hour in trenton philadelphia miles an -- 15 miles an hour in philadelphia. blustery winds having to deal with the wind chill as well. current air temperatures in the 30's and 20's across the region but when you factor in the wind chill feels like the teens in philadelphia. otherwise 19 with winds out of the northwest. feels like the single digits up in the poconos and a current wind chill in lancaster coming in at 14 pt here's satellite6 along with action radar. we've got a mostly clear sky but clouds will continue to roll on in and thicken as we go throughout the rest of tonight and into the overnight hours in anticipation of the clipper system that we're tracking so that moisture is still moving across areas in the northern plains pressing into areas south of minneapolis and it will work

its way eastward as we get into the overnight hoursly we time out the precipitation on future tracker 6 showing you as you wake up toll tomorrow morning moisture will be approaching near today. as you get close to 8 o'clock in the morning we have snow showers breaking out for the poconos down to lancaster even from philadelphia and areas south jersey and delaware which is why we exact exactly why we have that winter weather advisory. noontime leftover snow showers. we'll calling for a little bit of snow shower activity at 4 o'clock in the afternoon but by that time a lot of this precipitation should start to wind on down. the key take away point with this clipper system we're track on tuesday we're dealing with fluffy light snow. this is the snow you can easily brush off cars and windows early tomorrow morning. the start time between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock in the morning ending roughly between 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock in the afternoon from a west-east west direction and overall we're calling for a general 1 to 2 inches of snowfall. minor problem will be the timing as it's coming in time
