approved sale and a new delaware county school is set to open its doors to students tomorrow. the big story on "action news" tonight is the latest accuweather information on the approach of white winter weather. deldot trucks have been brining i-95 in wilmington preparing for the arrival of a touch of snow in the morning. a winter weather advisory will go into effect after 5:00 a.m. let's go meteorologist cecily tynan and double scan radar. cecily, what will drivers have to contend with in the morning. >> journalist could be he would and it will snowy. i really think the ma main problem with the storm is not the amount of snow, it's the timing, the fact that it's arriving during the morning commute. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing what i'm tracking is what's known as a clipper system its a fast moving low pressure center and this will be diving down to the south, now, the folks in the midwest could get 3 to 6 inches from the storm system but these storms typically really weaken as they head over the mountains but it will bring some light snow. the national weather service has issued winter weather

advisories along the i-95 corridor really all areas to the south and east from 5 o'clock tomorrow morning until 4 o'clock in the afternoon for light snow but the problem is that this snow is arriving right in time as bitter cold air so anything that falls will be sticking to the untreated surfaces pretty much immediately. right now philadelphia 31. allentown 26. millville 31, trenton and wilmington 29 degrees. lard to believe yesterday temperatures in some areas were in the 60's. future tracker showing tomorrow morning at 7:30 when the snow is moving in temperatures across-the-board in the 20's and we will stay below freezing through the day tomorrow and actually for the next several days. snow arriving between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock in the morning, right in time for the morning commute. it will be tapering offer in the afternoon and move completely out of here between 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock and we're looking at 1 to 2 inches of snow across our area. that will be the biggest snow

pennsylvania state police surveillance video of the ambush of the two state troopers. it was difficult to watch and for friends and family of the victims inside the courtroom it was very emotional. this was a clean cut eric frein as he was escortd into court a much different look than this last appearance when he was bruised and battered. once inside he again showed no emotion as the pike county district attorney played surveillance video showing the ambush of corporal bryan dickson and trooper alex douglass. corporal dixon's wife sat solemnly as the video showed fellow troopser trying to help him. >> it's the start of answers to questions for the public, the victims and their families. >> reporter: frein's defense attorneys say they weren't surprised by the evidence but seem to hint they're fighting to save 14's life not get an

acquittal in this death penalty case. >> if you see somebody walking a tight rope across niagara fall the the first thing you want to do is safe his life. prosecutors introduced evidence they found in an old airport hangar outside of which frein was captured after six weeks on the run. they also presented a letter. in it frein allegedly talks about a revolution, a apologizes to his parents and indicates he didn't want to be identified in the shooting. given the apparent evidence, the d.a. wouldn't tip his hand about any possible plea offer. >> he's got a tough row to hoe. he probably has people whispering in his ear from all the intergroups -- interest groups including the state police. >> reporter: they said it was too premature to talk about a plea deal. appears none of frein's relatives were inside the courtroom. live in milford, chad pradelli

channel6 "action news. jim. >> thank you chad. from the shooting back in september through the 48 day manhunt at frein's arrest we have been following the story on 6abc.com. you can check back for today's updates from the court. it is right there on 6abc.com. former philadelphia sportscaster doan tollefson rejected a final plea deal today. and with that jury selection got under way at his fraud trial. tollefson is accused of stealing more than $300,000 by selling fake sports themed trips that he said would benefit charity. if convicted tollefson faces 20 years in prison. the plea deal would have included seven months in prison, seven months in a recovery hospital and seven months in a halfway house. tollefson is representing himself. philadelphia police have arrested the alleged gunman in the weekend murder and robbery of a limo driver. 26-year-old mijael rodriguez

was shot inside his car on delancey street in west philadelphia. that was saturday night. his fiancée was sitting next to him. 20 year old alonzo dilligard has been charged with murder. detectives were questioning a second suspect but he was released. yes, this is the flu season albeit a little early and there is plenty of it across the country and here at home some and urgent care centers reported seeing a record number of patients over the weekend. with more on that we're joined by health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman. ali even a lot of folks that got flu shots are suffering in this new year. >> y-unfortunately the vaccine is not a good match for the predominant strain. we're seeing a spike in flu activity. as for whether this year will be worse than others it's too early to say but it is expected to be a bad flu season and there are things you can do to protect yourself patients flooded some local emergency rooms and urgent

care centers over the weekend. at care stat they saw record numbers at all of their locations. dr. graham johnson of the springfield center says many complained of flu-like symptoms. they come on quickly. >> usually it's a combination of high fevers, sore throat and a cough. a lot of times we also see you know, umer respiratory stuff, sinusitis headache. >> reporter: dr. peter badik of the abington location says the majority of those tested for flute tested positive. a bad flu season is expected this year because the predominant strain h3n2 is known to cause severe illness. and because so far the vaccine only offers 31 percent protection against this strain. but experts say the vaccine is still worth it. >> even though it isn't a good match for h3n2 getting vaccinated can give you cross protection.

it can be the difference between getting very sick or just being mildly sick, the difference between being hospitalized orb not. >> reporter: tamiflu is also recommended if it can be given in the first 48 hours. it can can lessen the severity of your illness. this is especially good for anyone at high risk for complications. including the very young very old, pregnant women and anyone with a compromised immune system. in the meantime, protect yourself. disinfect common surfaces. stay away from others who are sick. and. >> washing your hands avoid touching mucus membranes of nose eyes mouth. >> reporter: another reason it is not a waste is because we are seeing other strains going around such as h1n1 and that is covered by the vaccine even though it's not the predominant strain now things could change and we could start to see some one more often. >> i have a feeling you're going to be back a number of times talking about the flu. >> going to be a long season. >> thank you ali.

nothing is simple with efforts to sell the revel casino in atlantic city. judge approved the sale to second place bidder glen straub at his original bid price. he now wants the price to be $87 million and will try to block the judge's decision today. the original deal to sell the revel which was built at a cost of $2.4 billion, a deal for $110 million to a canadian firm fell through when that bidder backed out. investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire that sent two people to the hospital in west philadelphia this morning. firefighters were called to the scene on the 800 block of brooklyn street at 11 o'clock. an official cause hasn't been released but a burned out bed was pulled from the home. there's no word tonight on the conditions of the victims. a brand new school set to

>> joey merlino has a new home for the next four months, a prison in miami. the 52-year-old had to report to a federal facility by 2 o'clock this afternoon. this summer merlino was spotted with an old convicted mob associate and a judge determined that that violated his parole. merlino moved to florida in 2011 after serving time for racketeering. a philadelphia fire department ladder truck caused some damage in powelton this morning. the truck struck several parked cars near the intersection of north 42nd street and powelton avenue. officials have not said if they were responding to a call at the time. fortunately nobody was hurt. when the pennsylvania state assembly holds its

swearing in ceremony tomorrow, one member from philadelphia will be making history. "action news" reporter vernon odom has that story. >> reporter: state representative elect lesley acosta greets constituents on the eve her swearing in. from hunting park to fairhill to parts of north philadelphia. she has no illusions about harrisburg. her presses sore has been busted for corruption. >> i have no disposition to any -- to anyone other than the people that elected me to office. >> reporter: she's not in awe or fear of the powers in harrisburg from the republican majorities in the house and senate to the lobbyists who roam that town. >> political structure, it had as no credibility to be quite honest with you and i think we need to start electing individuals that are off that.

conditions and the action cam in center city taking a look at haines park today. skateboard park. not a lot of shredding going on today. you can actually feel the cold winds blowing in. blue skies and sunshine but despite all that sunshine, it certainly is cold today. our high today 50 degrees. this is very deceiving because this came at midnight. since then temperatures have been tumbling. our low this was posted at 5 o'clock was 34 degrees. the temperatures are dropping so quickly it's already colder than. that 31 degrees in philadelphia. in allentown it's 26. trenton 29 and the poconos currently 16 degrees. weather whiplash. remember yesterday how warm it was. we are 24 degrees colder in philadelphia than this time yesterday, 30 degrees colder in the poconos 30 degrees colder in millville and 33 degrees colder in dover than this time yesterday and then you factor in the winds

it feels even colder than that. the wind chill right now in philadelphia makes it feel like 18 degrees, in trenton it's 17, allentown 14 and the current wind chill in reading is 11 degrees. so the cold air is moving in. satellite6 along with action radar showing we're already beginning to see some high thin clouds in advance of this clipper. the actual low pressure is moving across the plain states. this is a fast moving system. it really doesn't have time to tap in moisture from the gulf of mexico or from the atlantic so this is the system that will bring us some light snow. last winter this wouldn't have been a big deal but this will be the first snow of the year and in some parts of our viewing area the biggest snow so far of the season and really the timing is the problem. future tracker showing by 8:30 in the morning the snow is here especially around philadelphia and areas to the west. this will complicate the morning commuter. we still have snow south of philadelphia around lunchtime but then it all begins to dry out. it's out of here by about 4 o'clock.

so, this is what to expect tomorrow. again the major problem is the start time, between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock in the morning and we're looking at light snow. it's going to be that fluffy very dry snow generally about 1 to 2 inches. it will be blowing around. the problem with temperatures so cold untreated roads it will be accumulating very quickly. roads will be slippery tomorrow morning. do be careful and definitely dress for bitter cold weather. behind the system temperatures drop even more and winds pick up. the next 12 hours increasing clouds, winds diminishing and down right cold. 16 degrees in the suburbs 21 degrees for center city and the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast tomorrow that light snow generally in the morning, the high only 29 degrees. on wednesday it gets even colder, 28 degrees the high. look at this number. thursday morning down to 8 degrees in philadelphia. poconos below zero. thursday really the heart that of cold air 22 degrees and then friday not quite as harsh, 33. could have some flurries from another system and that will
