and if you you are behind the wheel, please be careful of black ice. it is tuesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the aftermath of this years debut snow, but the big concern now is the frigid cold moving in for the rest of the week. we will go to cecily tynan in a moment but first "action news" reporter dann cuellar is live in university city, dann, it didn't... it didn't take long for the city to freeze up. >> reporter: right now city looks cold under a full moon covered in the first snow of 2015 albeit the result of the nuisance storm that is like a cat disappeared leaving only messes behind for to us clean up. either by hand or by machine you can hear them all over the city dealing with a nuisance snow that was turning to ice. by 6:00 o'clock peco crown lights read 24 degrees in center city and this meant trouble for one motorist

tonight. >> it looked like he didn't have control. >> reporter: just after 6:00 a motorist tells police she hit the a patch of black ice in the 2400 block of walnut and lost control of her suv. she crashed in the lamp post and entrance to the building at 2401 walnut. >> hit the post over, he knocked it over into the building and kept going into the back have of the building and through the glass. >> reporter: fortunately, in one was injured. the city crews had been out salting roadways for the day but by night fall across the city a number of streets like these in the fairmount section remain snow covered. reason why this motorist was taking it slow. the just after night fall residents shoveling snow, were already finding it more difficult to get it off sidewalks. >> it doesn't pick up, you know, it the just kind of sticks to whatever it is on. we use the shovel upside down. >> people walk on it and it gets all packed down and you have to get underneath it with a stick.

officials at fort bliss say a gunman killed one person before being killed but they have not released any details just yet. shooting happened at el paso veterans affairs health care system part of the complex that includes an army hospital. two men have been arrested in last night's shoot-out in new york that sent two police officers to the hospital. of course, the new york city police department is still trying to cope with the execution style murders of two law men on december 20th. "action news" reporter kenneth moton is live from the satellite center. kenneth, how did the a arrests go down today. >> reporter: it took community tips to catch one man earlier today and another suspect showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound. meanwhile, those two officers are also still recovering in the hospital tonight and in stable condition. this was the dramatic and violent moment a robbery suspect opened fire shooting two new york city police officers as they were closing in on him. manhunt for jason polanco and

people to ever serve as mayor and that is already by her. a new year, new leadership in moorestown, new jersey. >> victoria napolitano was sworn in as the town's new mayor and at the age of 26, she's the youngest mayor in moorestown's recent history. >> a a lot of people in their 20's are focused on other things but i don't know it seems like a natural fit the for me. it is really an honor. i love this town. >> reporter: the drexel grad is no stranger to the town, serving on council for the the last two years. >> my number one priority and first couple months of my term will be bringing a budget to the rest of the council and passing a budget that does not increase tax these year. >> reporter: new you era that is beginning in this room tonight is definitely getting the attention of those on the political landscape, but it may trans send politics. the next generation is already taking note of this new young mayor. >> i think it is really great
