we begin with noon with developing news from paris france where 12 people were killed today in a terror attack. now the search is on for the masked gunman that targeted the offices of a satirical newspaper. it happened at a weekly newspaper known for its satirical cartoons they call is an act of blatant terrorism. and have heightened security to its highest level. president obama has offered the u.s.'s help and offered support. lets get the latest from karen travers in washington. >> reporter: france is on high alert after a horrific terror attack that left a dozen dead. at noon local time, three masked

gunman stormed the offices of the satirical magazine. they could hear them shouting god is great in arabic they heard multiple gunshots as if we were in a state of war. it includes staffers and police officials authorities have launched a search for the suspects that escaped in vehicles. >> they did a shooting and left and got in a get away vehicle and escaped. >> french president rushed to the scene of the attack and called it an act of exceptional bar barbaric. the cover featured a spoof of the prophet muhammad.

police arrived at 3:45 this morning and there are reports of minor injuries and state police are investigating. turning to the forecast we remain in a deep freeze with some of the coldest temperatures this winter hitting us and hitting us pretty hard. this morning in center city people were bundled up in hats and scarves and gloves. tonight it could be a dangerous situation lets look at sky 6 hd at a cold outlook here, there is the ben franklin bridge and parts of penn's landing. lets get the forecast now from david murphy at the "action news" big board. >> you can see in that camera it's jiggling a bit and winds are picking up. you have two enemies, one is the temperature and the second is the wind and maybe a snow shower. we don't have a lot going on but back into lancaster county a few streaks of gray from the west, these are light snow showers and

occasionally this afternoon into the dinner hour, we see a slightly heavier burst of snow and if that happens slow it down. overall clouds and sunny breaks you can see the wind is coursing down from the northwest and temperatures which stayed pretty cool with the snow falling yesterday are still chilly 23 in philadelphia and 22 in wilmington and 20 in allentown and the winds picking up these are the latest sustained winds and gusts higher than these numbers a sustained wind out of the west in philadelphia pretty healthy numbers everywhere else, this morning during the broadcast we had numbers in the low teens and upper single digits in the suburbs, now lancaster is 1 and 4 in reading and 8 in philadelphia. and 10 in millville. if this is the worst of what we would see today. it would be pretty big weather

news but it will get worse tonight. the temperatures drop after dark and the winds get stronger with gusts of 35 miles per hour and a windchill advisory is posted by the weather service starting at 7:00 and going into 9:00 tomorrow morning, it will feel between 5 below zero to perhaps 15 degrees below 0. and worse than that in the poconos if are you dressing the kids for school tomorrow morning we are looking at brutal cold i am putting all the gear on them, cover up as much skin as you can when the wind is roaring and the windchills are as severe as tonight and tomorrow morning. we'll look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast coming up to when this changes for the better. >> that would be good news, lets switch to walter perez live on independence hall with how people are coping with the cold today. walter i know you hate this weather.

overseas indonesia search and rescue chief says that divers have spotted the tail of the missing air asia plane in the java sea, the discovery comes 11 days after flight 8501 disappeared from radar with 162 people on board and the find is particularly important because the all important black boxes are located in the aircraft's tail. 40 bodies are found near the crash site so far. a police pursuit of a stolen car ended in a violent crash that shut down a busy south jersey highway this morning. it happened at 1:00 a.m. at route 130 south? burlington. police say that two vehicles collided and it took down two light poles and it began in florence after police there spotted a stolen car out of new york, route 130 south was shut

down in that area for nearly five hours the suspect in the stolen car and the driver of the other vehicle both suffered minor injuries. a man surrendered peacefully after a standoff in upper moreland county. at appiville avenue and davis view road. it was a call for a possible suicidal person with weapons. there were no injuries or shots fired, police say that the man they took into custody is being taken for a mental evaluation. record crowds are expected in philadelphia for the large of the martin luther king celebration in the country in less than two weeks. mayor nutter announced the king day of service on january 19th he was joined by president and founder jared burnstein, it will highlight the voting rights act and they honored talk radio

los angeles police are looking for a particularly vicious robbers caught by surveillance cameras, he is linked to similar attacks since november. he follows women on to elevators and attacks them and takes their purses one victim was sexually assaulted. two young sisters face charges for the death of their brother. they are charged with premeditated murder for shooting their 16-year-old brother while he slept. it was in retaliation for the brother beating up the girls and the parents were charged with child neglect, they were out of

somebody out there sees something that is more pronounced than this. and if that happens you will want to slow it down if there is a quick coating on road surfaces, we are looking at mainly sunny skies and into the early afternoon in the immediate region, the action cam is out there. taking pictures of buffalo on a cold winter's afternoon the wind is running west northwest at 25 miles per hour. that is socking a punch at us 20 in allentown and 25 in wildwood. that will be the story not only the rest of today but into tomorrow as well. feels like 8 as you head out in philadelphia 4 in allentown 9 in sea isle city. a word to the wise, if are you behind the wheel or frankly on foot this afternoon and this evening there is a possibility of icy patches out there for

surfaces that weren't treated after the snow. we have not gone anywhere near the freezing mark. karen rogers was finding icy patches on the sides of major highways too. be careful out there. future tracker 6 handling the precipitation the rest of the way it doesn't look like a lot. every now and then a snow shower could pop through and if it's a heavier one slow it down just in case. by 8:00 that looks to be over. allentown a high of 24 and snow shower can't be ruled out and the bigger story is how it feels and in allentown dropping to the freezing mark by dinner time or below zero i should say. a snow shower cannot be ruled out but the big story is the windchill and how it feels you might get to the teens windchill wise and it's uncomfortable. winds are increasing the rest of

satirical newspaper in paris france. and we begin this half hour with a developing story an accident that shut down a section of route 42 in camden county. chad pradelli is live at the scene with the very latest. >> reporter: hey rick, we are here on browning road on the top of route 42 and the cleanup here continues crews right now are trying to get rid of the storage tank that was on a truck here is what new jersey police tell me happened the truck was traveling along route 42 and hit the overpass and that storage tank flew off and there was a multivehicle crash there doesn't appear to be anything inside. it doesn't look like crews are having to clean anything up. three people were injured according to new jersey state police they were taken to cooper
