morning on her way to work. >> police are still looking for the gunman and the motive for the violent attack that took place in broad daylight. vernon odom is following the investigation and joins us live at the scene near 12th and jefferson. vernon? >> so far it is a total who-dun-it and the question why? robbery or domestic situation? detectives are very much on the case at this hour. the murder occurred just after 9:30 this morning at 12th and jefferson. a 56-year-old woman who lives in this normally-quiet neighborhood was shot once in the head as she waited for the bus to go to work. a long-time neighbor says it is part of her routine and is stunned by what happened. >> this is a quiet neighborhood and i can't figure that out. and then when i found up on the corner on the bus, i didn't know who it was. >> i am withholding the victim's name for the time being. neighbors tell me she is the

long-time employee of an insurance company and mother of an adult son. no word yet on a possible motive here. police are looking through video through a septa bus trying to possibly focus on a suspect described as a black male dressed in all-black clothing carrying a duffel bag. >> i still can't believe it. somebody you know all your life just about. >> as you look directly at the crime scene which is still intact, the body has been removed. the neighbor says that he taught the victim to ride a bicycle when she was only 6 years old. they say the man wearing all black with a duffel bag fleeing the scene, they can't anyone who can help call right away. $20,000 reward for solving a murder has been posted. live in philadelphia vernon odom for channel 6 news." >> thank you. kelly drive shutdown in both directions in fairmount park

following a serious accident this morning. three vehicles were involved in the collision near brewery hill drive before 9:00. two people rescued from the wreckage and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. the police are working to clear the heavily-damaged vehicles from the roadway. developing news from new jersey. a mount lawyer man arrested and charged with murder of his wife missing for two weeks. and we have the latest on the investigation. katherine? >> kyle crosby now held on $1.2 million bail after being charged early this morning in the death of his wife. investigators say they found several items in his trunk they believe were of value when it comes to evidence however they didn't go into detail as to what the evidence is. her body still has not been found. the burlington county prosecutor's office announced that 28-year-old kyle crosby of

mount laurel charged this morning with one count of murder. his wife 26 mother of two, erica crippen-crosby missing since new's years avenue. they chased crosby on foot. >> cars from everywhere. there must have been 10 or 12. >> erica crippen-crosby lived with crosby, their 3-month-old daughter and their 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. officers were sent to the home on january 7 for a wellness check after the 7-year-old hadn't reported to school that week. the prosecutor's office says several days later charged with danger of a child with the absence of his wife. and they had a traffic stop and detained crosby. the family last night was relieveled that crosby was taken into custody but are still looking for answers. >> i am glad they had got him. i want him to come forward and

for your tuesday. we head over to the big board and meteorologist david murphy. david? >> really, rick we have the sun but that's about the end of the good news today, right? we had cloud cover over most of the region but the winds are dropping down out of the north and that's a very dry, cold wind. that dry air has evaporated the clouds now all waittit -- the way south of washington. and fairly sunny skies the rest of the way today. looking at temperatures though along with the wind driving down out of the north we have cold air. 31 degrees in philadelphia. 31 in wilmington. a little better south in south jersey, but not a lot. the suburbs like lehigh valley and reading mid 20s. 29 in trenton. and i mentioned the winds, they are dropping down out of the north. they are sustained winds. take away gusts this is what generally is going on and on without any sort of stoppage. 13-mile-an-hour wind now in philadelphia. 13 in allentown. the winds probably shifting more off the ocean or at least out of the northeast as we go later

the yellow line trainee evacuated at the busy l'enfant plaza station. and passengers were covered in black soot. the national transportation safety board is investigating the incident that caused chaos at the start of the afternoon commute. >> there was no oxygen. people started panicking and started hitting the floor. >> i had a stocking cap and breathing through it. for an hour. >> officials believe an electrical arcing some type of electrical problem involving the high-voltage third rail triggered the accident. but the investigation is ongoing this noon. in new york city more than 100 firefighters responded to a blaze at penn station. the fire began around 2:20 this morning in an underground construction site. crews were able to get it under control. no one was hurt. the because of the fire still under investigation. several commuter trains are experiencing delays in and out of penn station right now. the president's task force charged with improving 21st

century policing is holding its first public meeting in washington today. the group is hearing testimony on how to improve relationships between police and their communities. they are also looking into crime reduction and violence directed at law enforcement. philadelphia police commissioner, charles ramsey is the co-chair of the task force. a ramsey says he has seen many changes in law enforcement over the years, but further change is needed. >> we have every intent of meeting the timelines laid out by the president and come up with concrete recommendations that will lead to change. >> president obama has asked for a full report on the task force's recommendations by march 2. this just into "action news." long-time philadelphia city councilwoman, marian tasko not running for re-election. the announcement just made by daryl clark. first elected to the city council in 1987 representing the

are dry. as we look to the great outdoors we are down along the beach on the action cam a little bit earlier. up see how they planted some of the fresh dune for the summer. and nothing like that in the immediate few tier and the temperature is 31 degrees in philadelphia. the immediate concern is the cold. when you couple that 31-degree reading with the winds out of the north at 13 you get a wind chill in the teen and 20s across the region basically. it feels like the low 20s in philadelphia. 25 degrees in allentown, 31 wilmington, 33 millville, 34 wildwood. that's about the high-water mark. and even in wildwood it is cold. satellite shows you how we had cloud cover overhead in the overnight hours. the cold dry air from the north eroded the crowds and evaporated most of them. across most of our area we have plenty of sunshine the rest of the way. fairly bright and high of 29 degrees and wind chills in the teens in the allentown area most

of the way. the same for beth -- bethlehem. and windy along the coast. philadelphia 31 degrees winds 10-20 miles per hour. there is really no break in terms of the chilly feel. sun mixes with a few clouds brisk conditions. overnight partly cloudy and cold and brisk. dropping for 20 for the low. winds still enough to drive the wind chills down into the teens. for the evening commute, partly cloudy, brisk and cold. 27 by 5:30 and all the way down to 26 at 7:00 on our way to the overnight low of 20. wind chills are a factor the rest of the way. right now we have them in the teens and about 20 in philadelphia. and it doesn't change much by 2:30 in the afternoon. i told you to dress the kids with the extra gear for the walk home today, that's why. it will feel like it is in the neighborhood of 20 degrees or so. by 6:00 tonight, 18 your wind chill in philadelphia. even most points in south jersey and delaware are also dropping.

by 11:00 tonight cecily tynan with worse numbers for you. if you have plans for late this evening to walk the dog, bundle both up good and make it a short walk of the tomorrow more clouds moving in and another cold high of 32. an area of low pressure off the coast fortunately far enough off the coast to keep most of us dry. there is a chance of the southern delmarva and maybe cape may county an occasional flurry or sprinkle or maybe freezing sprinkle. all possible but only way down south. the high pressure will change things for us. the seven-day brink and cold 31. tomorrow not as windy, chilly high of 32. partly sunny thursday and fairly cold 37. friday, things start to get better. the 40 is the average high. we're back up above or meeting average on friday. and then above average starting saturday with a high of 44 and lots ever sunshine. and the weekend closes out with an increase in cloud cover, but nobody is going to mind.

our high temperature will be up around 50 degrees on sunday. martin luther king day a cold front passes us and we cool down, 39 degrees. that's pretty average for this time of year and i think everybody will be able to get their volunteer activities done under the sun. >> yeah but sunday, 49! i am wearing sandals. first we will do this -- a wedding 20 years in the making. a minnesota couple tied the knott two decades after they first walked down the aisle. they were just 3 years old when serving as ring barrier and flower girl in the wedding of a godmother. and they reunited when sharing a government class, were a couple two days later and dated through college before taking a second and far more memorable trip down the aisle at their own wedding on saturday. >> that's nice. and now we'll take a quick break and be right back.
