getting more violent and that is next. she was just waiting for a bus this morning at 12th and jefferson in north philadelphia suddenly a man walks up to 56 year-old kim jones and shoots her in the head. one bullet, one life. tonight, police are trying to find the killer.

it is tuesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the investigation into a bus stop execution. "action news" reporter dann cuellar is live at police headquarters, dann what is the latest here. >> reporter: jim homicide detective making progress tonight in this horrific, shocking execution style murder. sources say she was target had and however did this, it was personal very personal. >> we knew she was targeted for whatever reason. we do not believe it was robbery. >> reporter: fifty-six year-old kim jones never saw or heard it coming. she was wearing headphones as she waited for number 23 septa a bus at the corner of 12th and jefferson around 9:15 this morning. police say it was a routine for years as she traveled into center city to her job at turning point for children social services program on south 15th but this morning police say someone walk up from behind and shot her point blank in the back of the head. >> she had a purse, a cell phone. she had jewelry on, none of which was taken or disturb.

targeted. we will get to the bottom of that and we will get the person responsible for this very quickly. >> reporter: city is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. police have been interviewing family members trying to get leads and they seem pleased with the progress that they are making tonight. we are live at police headquarters, i'm dann cuellar for channel six "action news". >> thanks, dann. kyle crosby of mount laurel, new jersey has been charged with the murder of his wife. erika crippen crosby has been missing since new years eve. her husband was apprehended last night during a traffic stop. the prosecutor said that police found evidence in his car that is consistent with his wife's disappearance. crosby had has long had a criminal history that includes narcotics and burglary convictions. he is being held on 1.2 million-dollar bail tonight. it looks like some of the southern and coastal portions of our viewing area could get some snow cover early

"action news" morning team will be on starting at 4:30 to track wintry weather and let you know any effect on traffic and transit. a grocery store owner got into a gun battle with a would be robber tonight, in the kensington section of philadelphia. police say the shoot-out happened inside the stevens grocery store on the 2900 block of d street at 7:00 o'clock. the owner rafael martinez was struck in the right shoulder. he is in good condition tonight the at temple university hospital. two suspects are on the loose. philadelphia police are trying to track down a bandit who has been hitting pharmacies retail stores, and fast food restaurants, mostly on city avenue. there have been at least ten hold ups including two this past weekend and one yesterday. haverford, one of the targets sharrie, who is this guy and what do police know about him. >> reporter: jim, his name is cartell wright, he has had run ins with the the police in the past so they are aware of who he is. he does not wear a mask or cover his face when he goes into terrorize these different businesses but tonight police warning the people in the a area that he is still out there and he is escalating in his violence. sunday in the middle of the afternoon a business, held up by this man philadelphia police say he is 49 year-old cartell wright and he is no stranger to police. video captures him walking in the rite aide on the 5400 block of land down and demand cigarettes and cash. >> he has his hand in the pocket. indicates he has a weapon and threatening to shoot the employees. >> reporter: police say after leaving the rite aide wright carjacked the the six five-year old man and took off and then less than two hours later police say he robbed a mcdonald's on the 7500 block

of sit have have avenue in overbrook park. detectives say wright has committed ten robberies in the city since march including this rite aide at 5040 city avenue four times. >> we believe this male is increasing in his intensity and desperation. we know people know this individual is. we know he is operate nothing west philadelphia and southwest philadelphia. >> reporter: police say the 49 year-old is becoming more violent in his approach. detective say this is wright kicking in the glass door at the mcdonald's at 52nd and chestnut monday morning. once inside he demanded the employees to get on the ground. he even grabbed one by her face and threw her down. >> he has been more aggressive recently. you can see the changeness his physical appearance. he seems addicted to crack cocaine or some other type of narcotic. >> reporter: police telling me tonight that this is very frustrating because they want this man off of the streets. patrol officers are aware of who he is and looking for him at this point jim, rite aide offered a $5,000 reward.

messages. about a dozen people rallied outside city council meet initial bridgeton, new jersey tonight they demonstrated against the the police shooting death of jeremy reid two weeks ago. reid was shot and killed during a traffic stop on henry street. it is still not clear what led up to the shooting. his family has launched an independent investigation. one of philadelphia's famed cheese stake moguls has died, avnor silver was co founder of jim's steaks at fourth and south street. seventy-nine year-old silver passed away today have after self years of fighting alzheimer's disease. opened up black and white tiled restaurant in the 1970's with william, who died several years ago. silver also founded avnor's steaks in university city but sold that in the 1990's. tributes are coming up across social media tonight. two camden residents, with several camden county police officers, have been recognized for their heroic teamwork
