this noon, a school bus erupts into flames in new jersey and two people escape just in time. and how a woman scared a robber away from her philadelphia home. and the big story is the police chase that ended with a suv slamming into a delaware county home. the crash left a trail of wreckage across this collingdale neighborhood. the suspect's chevy suburban hit two other cars before crashing into the house on chester pike, the suspect jumped out and made a run for it before he was caught. eva pilgram has the latest. >> reporter: you can see chester pike is back open this afternoon this curled fence a reminder of the police chase that ended here in a crash. >> a police chase ended here, this black chevy suburban slam nood this home on chester pike in collingdale but not before

hitting another driver and parked car along the way. >> he almost struck a couple of vehicles than is what prompted the officer to stop the vehicle. >> the officer followed the car in tinicum township to here where the vehicle crashed. >> the occupant exited the vehicle and fled. >> officers arrested the man and they found a gun tossed in a yard but no word if he tossed the gun. the police were thankful nobody was seriously hurt. >> it's extremely dangerous you do what you can to minimize the damage to other people on the roadways, but at the same time u.s. don't know what the guy had just done or what possibly could have happened. >> still no word this afternoon as to why the gentlemen ran from police. collingdale police and active

they were a few hours ago, now just a little bit of rain clipping cape may and some precipitation south of dover but if you look wider there is not a lot left over, can you see some mixed precipitation, kind of changes over to rain and all of this getting ready to erode and i think over the next hour or so you'll be down to rain showers and shortly after that not much else, the winter weather advisory that is still in affect in maryland and parts of delaware until 1:00 is now dropped in cape may county. a sign that things are gradually getting better and are you not looking at much in dover or points south. maybe snow and additional sleet. it did snow and we accumulated a little bit. some of my twitter followers in woodbine show a half inch of snow on the grown here. snowfall amounts are coming in sea soil city .7 inches and .2

crews are wiping down computers and desks in nazareth security after 75 children called out yesterday with symptoms of the flu "action news" reporter walter perez spoke to the principal and he joins us with more. >> reporter:nage nazareth academy grade school had 40% of the student body call out sick and they needed to do something. 75 students called in second day another 75 schooled in sick. >> it's escalated quickly and i got together with our group of teachers and faculty and administration to see what should we do? >> the decision was to shut down the facility for one day, that gives them an opportunity to air

of the bus before the fire erupted. a woman is dead after a fire rupped through the home in yaden county yesterday. on east providence roof, marilyn cramer was found on the front porch and pronounced dead. relatives think smoking may have been a cause of the blaze. >> i think she may have fell asleep while smoking. and it went up in flames. >> fire investigators are working to determine an exact cause and five people were able to escape the blaze. and police are looking for the man that held up a 53-year-old woman by gun point when she was walking into her home in west mt. airy, you can see the suspect there he trips and falls before he then runs up to the victim fortunately she

nasa evacuated part of the international space station today. after an alarm indicated a possible leak, the crew had to lock up their segment and move into the russian module the crew said nobody was in danger and they believe it was tripped up by a false reading or a computer problem. hundreds of people that were caught in a smoke filled train are still demanding an explanation. it sickened more than 80 riders and killed carolyn glover a mother of two, they were breathing in smokey air because an electrical malfunction authorities have declined to say why the evacuation took some

david is here and it's one of those days where you ask yourself, do i really want to go outside? >> you can stay in here and then walk to the car. >> it's that cold. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows you that we are still borned by a little precipitation down south, down by the shore it's turning to rain, in places like lewes delaware and cape may county where the temperatures have managed to get above freezing but up towards dover we are still freezing and there is still mixed precipitation there. for now any way we are seeing some additional mixed precipitation there. and an advisory still in affect for another half hour. there is your temperature 28 degrees winds out of the northeast at 18. that is spring mountain and it looks like they have opened up already at the noon hour, we

have folks coming down the slopes and bundled up because it's a cold one out there. 21 in allentown and 25 in trenton and 31 in millville and there are those above freezing numbers in the mid-30s down the shore, and it doesn't feel above freezing anywhere with that windchill of 17 in philadelphia and 22 in trenton and 12 in reading is the feels like temperature. if you are out this afternoon you want to make sure you have the gloves and hats and good stuff. satellite and radar shows the last of the precipitation is breaking apart and getting off the coast before too much longer it does look like we are fairly socked in by clouds with a few peeks of sunshine the latest model run between now and 2:00 shows us all of that stuff is off the coast and we get a bit of a break of sun here and there, as we get into the afternoon sperlly north and west. and allentown clouds and 29 is

your high and windchills make it feel like the teens even though the winds are not as strong overall. the farther you go down the coast the bettest chance of that number getting to the mid-30s. 32 in philadelphia and mainly cloudy skies and icing south and east and things are improving quickly in cape may county partly cloudy and cold and 24 is the overnight low and for the evening commute it looks like clouds and maybe a couple of sunny breaks developing, 31 by 4:00 and holding on to 30 degrees by 7:00. a fair amount of cloud cover and obviously cold. tomorrow high pressure starts to get beneath us and that changes the wind direction to a more southerly direction southwest is what we'll call it tomorrow there is milder air down there and that helps us pop the number to 39 for a high.

area school the principal canceled classes and we have the latest there and a man falls from his cruise ship and is rescued hours later by another one. and first a fire that claimed the life of an elderly woman in delaware county. officials say three people inside made it out safely but the 76-year-old victim did not. katherine scott has more details now from the scene. >> reporter: today investigators are getting interviews with survivors and continuing to look at the evidence you can see the home here in yaden is all boarded up after this early morning fire, four people were inside when the fire broke out and one got trapped on the front porch and they did not make it out alive. they got together and gathered belongings after the fire claimed the life of marilyn cramer three other relatives
