thieves target a popular bar in old city, and there is video of the thiefs that got away with the entire atm. and new rules relaxing for people going to cuba, when the any measures are scheduled to take affect. but the big story this noon, is the geyser that shot water into the area after a water main break in northeast philadelphia. it quickly froze in the freezing conditions leaving an icy mess for the crews sent to shut the water off. david henry is getting a closer look at the aftermath he joinses live from the scene. >> reporter: that water flow got shut off at 8:00 this morning, leaving behind an icy landscape, coating the trees and this building back here. crews had to pull out of here last night when it became too

dangerous. >> the geyser shot far up into the air into the trees, after a valve burst last night. water crew his to cut through a fence and go through heavy underbrush to get to the source and they battled freezing temperatures and a geyser of water. one worker got into trouble and had to be rescued. he was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released this morning. and at that point things got too dangerous. >> in the immediate area, it was dark and icy a difficult location to get access to we are trying to get close to the location and it was challenging for us. >> the crews returned at 6:00 this morning and it took to hours to finally get the water shut off. they had to shut involves on what is called a fire loop some miles away. and that leads to another problem, fire hydrants are dry including those that protect

those in commercial areas like this one on grant avenue. it was caused by a broken valve that is relatively easy to replace, but accessing it is a problem. the repair crews are working 12-hour shifts after they run from one leak to the next. >> several breaks per day and all night long, we are out here working as quickly and as efficiently as we can. >> the good news is they got the valve replaced now and water employees are watching the valve as they turn on other valve as long the fire loop to make sure this one doesn't blow again as the pressure starts blowing. the good news is its fixed. live in northeast philadelphia david henry, channel 6 "action news." >> all right david thank you. another water main break in

delaware kept students home from class today. brandywine high school in wilmington had to close because of the rupture on folk road avoid the area between silver side and shipley roads because of the cleanup. the freezing temperatures were no help for crews dealing with the broken water mains but we are getting a break from the bitter cold today lets head to the big board and meteorologist, david murphy. >> it was cold today and there were problems with the ice it looked like old faithful 29 was your morning low, cold enough in and around philadelphia for ice to form and the same thing in millville and the same in wilmington. they are better than the last couple of mornings and that is a sign of what is ahead today. 32 degrees at the noon hour, and only reached 32 for a high today. we'll had quite a bit as we break the clouds up a bit in

wilmington not far from philadelphia up to 35 degrees, i should say and i think the 49 is a mistake, we have real fluctuating numbers coming out of the reporting station in millville and they are closer to 40 or below that. 36 in atlantic city and allentown below the freezing mark. these represent changes in the last 24 hours 10 degrees better in allentown than this time yet books yesterday. and philadelphia up 4. we are looking for a high of 39 degrees right around the average high of 40 tonight's overnight low is 27 degrees, that is above average, in terms of cloud cover on the wide visible satellite view, the sun is coming up over the horizon, and we see wide open spaces to the north and west and southwest. and we expect those of you looking at a fair amount of cloud cover are seeing sun breaking through, and the

after a raid on the home of crosby's parents and they removed his 3-year-old daughter he was charged in the murder of his wife. erica crosby they were last seen together at a restaurant last month. the 21-year-old's body is still missing. police are investigating a deadly crash on i-95 in mercer county one car rear ended a truck parked on the side of the highway, here in hope well township. the truck driver pulled over to sleep, and the crash woke him and he got out to pull the woman from the wrecked car and she died at the scene. a family dog was killed in an overnight fire here in camden county investigators believe that the blaze started in the stove inside of this winslow township home, the red cross is helping two displaced residents with a place to stay. the main business unit for

is back now with a closer look of relief we are seeing today. we are at the freezing mark, and not as windy as yesterday and i expect the next few hours to get us up. there is no snow, a couple of you tweeted me in northeast philadelphia and parts of the northern suburbs, there is a little fine snow coming down briefly that was a little nominally popping up you get sometimes when looking at clouds. lets get you outside and speaking of which we are seeing brightening and it's breaking through just about everywhere, trying to do that in center city. that would help out the numbers, now we are at 32 degrees, wins are light out of the west at 3 miles per hour. you need a coat but not too bad. 31 in reading and 35 in wilmington and 49 in millville is a broken piece of equipment or something.

35 in dover and 30 below freezing in trenton. your windchills with a light wind it has got an affect feels 6 degrees cooler than the temperature in philadelphia but not bad and certainly not bad as what we experienced earlier this week when the winds were stronger. a break in the clouds to the west york, pennsylvania are you bursting into the sunshine and wilmington into maryland that is a trend we are watching today with clouds mixing with increased sunshine up in allentown you won't get all that warm staying with a high of 33 in the lehigh valley brisk but not as windy as recently at the shore you get a shot at 40 42 in atlantic city and on the breezy side but not too bad. in philadelphia about 39 degrees can clouds and sun and brisk conditions, but not all that windy this should be

easier to take than the recent afternoons. the overnight low is 27 and partly cloudy skies and the winds 7 to 14 not all that bad. for the afternoon and evening commute it looks to be chilly if starts at 7:30 and we are back down to the freezing mark tonight. but no big deal precipitation so no icy patches and for friday we get to 42 and wind is out of the west and the problem is that the winds are blustery tomorrow and getting up to 35 miles per hour. it will feel more mild than that suggests and high pressure to the north turns the winds out and gets us colder this winter we only get 1.6 inches of snow, most of it from one recent event and on average we would be up to 6 or so and last year we had 20.2 inches just by this time. we were getting up early like six times to put on the early
