ourn her death. >> "action news" reporter vernon odom live at police headquarters with the very latest developments tonight. vernon. >> reporter: the police manhunt for the killer remains very intense tonight and that will continue through the weekend. late today police released surveillance video they hope will help their investigation. this is surveillance video of kim jones walking northbound from her home tuesday morning to the bus stop at 12th and jefferson. the next sequence shows her killer approaching having followed her there after hiding in front of her home for an hour. you can see the killer approaching the bus stop and jones a social worker who was headed to work in center city to her job around 9:15. >> when she does come out then he follows her in a very calm manner, walks up behind her and shoots and kills her. >> reporter: here you see the killer calmly walking away from the murder scene heading towards broad street. the entire body and head bundled up. it was freezing out there but this was also done to avoid being identified. here you see him heading into

the subway at broad and cecil b. moore adjacent to the temple university campus and then board the subway still wearing a ski mask covering all by the eyes and mouth a fur hat and large beat earphones on never looking up to risk being identified by the surveillance cameras. the police need any help they can to find out who this cold blooded predator is. >> right after the murder happens, turns we believe puts the gun back in a duffle bag in a very calm fashion just walks away. >> >> reporter: moments ago we spoke with kim jones' son andre jordan. he says he hopes someone will help by coming forward to tell police and help them identify the killer. a reminder there is a $20,000 reward posted for information leading to the capture of the killer. live at police headquarters in center city, vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> all right, thanks vernon. as we mentioned, there was a vigil today for kim jones near the north philadelphia intersection where she was killed. here it is. this is the scene less than an

hour ago as friends family even strangers stopped to remember her life. the vigil was organized by philadelphia ceasefire an organization with the goal of creating a more peaceful philadelphia. >> ♪♪ we are following a developing story out of west philadelphia. a 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the chest and it appears to have started as an argument at west philadelphia high school today. philadelphia police say oney once school was over, the argument continued near 46th and market streets and that's when the teen was stabbed. he was taken to children's hospital in critical condition. philadelphia police believe another 14-year-old may be behind the stabbing. they are currently looking for that teen. the ncaa announced the proposal today that would restore 112 penn state wins that were wiped out during the jerry sandusky scandal. the new deal requires penn state to commit a total of

$60 million to child abuse programs. the ncaa says it made the decision because continued litigation would only delay the distribution of funds to sex abuse survivors. the proposal would make joe paterno once again the winningest coach in major college football history. sandusky was convicted on child sexual abuse charges in 2012. >> a home invasion in brewerytown and it was a person being shot. this happened about 8:00 this morning in the 2900 block of nicholas street. police say the 44-year-old male victim was shot in both legs. investigators say between four and five men came into his home through a side window. after shooting the man they fled with $300 cash and a cell phone. the victim is expected to survive. well, the man accused of driving his estranged wife's corvette into the delaware river will go to trial. 50-year-old john kramer was in court for his preliminary hearing today. his alleged motive for plunging the vehicle in the water last november was his johnny ongoing divorce with his wife stephanie.

he's facing a number of charges including violating protection orders and harassment. >> a plot against the u.s. capitol earlier this week has raised concerns about home grown terrorists here in the u.s. and around the world. authorities made dozens of arrests overnight in a sweep across europe. abc's marci gonzalez is in new york following this story for us tonight. marcy. >> reporter: sharrie in one of those sweeps authorities say they stopped what was an imminent attack and police are still busy tracking other people they believe could be linked to terrorism abroad and here at home. the 20-year-old ohio man charged with plotting to set off bombs and shoot government officials at the u.s. capitol in court today. christopher lee cornell arrested wednesday after investigators say they learned of his violent plans and read his threatening online posts is now being held without bail. >> it certainly is a growing problem that more and more people are self radicalizing. >> reporter: the fbi's highlighting that.

sharing this video of a sting that landed this man in jail in 2012 stopping what they say was another plot similar to cornels. >> my body when i go inside,. >> reporter: the couldn'ty concern about moment grown radials growing here in the u.s. and abroad following the terror attacks in paris. a dozen people were taken into custody in france overnight. investigators saying some of the suspects have lynx to the murders at the market. two more terror related arrests were made in germany and police in belgium have charged five people and arrested seven others closing in on what they believe to be a group of radicals plotting to kill officers. today just as british prime minister david cameron met with president obama at the white house to discuss the intensifying problem. >> all our countries are working together to prevents attacks and defeat these terrorist networks.

>> reporter: just as president obama was making that comment and meeting with british prime minister david cameron another arrest, an 18-year-old woman in the uk was taken into custody on suspicion of terrorism. reporting live, marci gonzalez, channel6 "action news." sharrie, back to you. >> okay, marcy, thank you. there will be much more on the terror sweep on world news tonight with david muir. that's tonight at 6:30 directly after "action news" at 6:00. >> all right, let's talk weather. temperatures jumped into the 40's today. a welcome treat to end our week. >> talk about that. but will the mild weather last for the weekend? meteorologist cecily tynan outside our studios with the details from accuweather. we're waiting for the answer. >> and the answer is no, it's going to get cold and then it's going to get rainy. so, i hope you enjoyed today with temperatures in the 40's. didn't quite feel that mild, though, when you factor in the winds. taking a look at temperatures right now in philadelphia it's 40 degrees. millville 38. wilmington 39. trenton 34 and allentown currently 32 degrees. but then you factor in the

winds. the wind chill quite a bit cooler. feels like 31 in philadelphia, feels like 21 in allentown. 30 in wilmington and it feels like 26 degrees in trenton. we had wind gusts today more than 30 miles per hour. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing that we are seeing some light snow showers, a few flurries near willow grove and jenkintown, just to the north of media. these are really beginning to die off. this is associated way cold front that's moving through tonight and this will really drop off the temperatures. the evening planner on your friday newark it's friday heading out, you do want to bundle up. at 7 o'clock 35 degrees, 8 o'clock 31, by 9:00 and 10:00 down into the 20's but the winds will be pretty strong until after midnight. so, future tracker showing 10 o'clock tonight wind chills will be down into the teens. so, it is certainly not going to be mild tonight and then temperatures really dropping off tomorrow. so your weekend outlook in a nutshell it will be sunny and then it's going to be soggy. saturday plenty of sunshine,

calm winds but cold, the high only 32 degrees. i think some of our northwest suburbs won't even make it out of the 20's and sunday it clouds up. rain will be arriving really across our entire viewing area 42 degrees but the heaviest rain will be areas to the east. i'll talk more about that and take a look at monday and the rest of the week coming up in the full accuweather forecast. monica. >> all right, thank you cecily. check this out. an incredible story out of ridley township tonight after a woman accidentally drove her car into the delaware county ymca barely missing swimmers in the pool. this is the car that hit the y in the 900 block of south avenue this afternoon. an elderly woman told police she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes and obviously crashed through a brick wall. incredibly she was not hurt, nor was anybody else doing happens hurt. chopper 6 hd of course shows you another angle on this crash. scary stuff. a driver of an suv was hurt in an early morning crash in the parkside section of philadelphia. it happened at 1:00 a.m. at

wyalusing avenue and 51st street. the 32-year-old driver lost control hit a parked car then crashed into a concrete wall. he suffered several injuries and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. one vehicle ended up on top of another when they collided this morning on the schuylkill expressway. chopper 6 hd again over the scene around 5:45 a.m. here in the westbound lanes of the area of fairmount park. no word on any injuries. the wreck caused major delays, though, during the morning commute. >> in time to take a look at the afternoon commute. the "action news" traffic report. >> that's right, matt pelman in the know. what's going on matt. >> not to be outdone the westbound schuylkill giving us a crash this afternoon as well. luckily not quite as serious as the one this morning but still it's out here on the shoulder westbound approaching belmont and definitely attracting some attention in this normally busy spot. so, the westbound side of 76 jammed solid now the whole way from university out to that accident scene past city avenue. just like this morning. i would head for the river drives instead. we're also watching a crash

>> on health check tonight the cdc reports 19 more children have died from the flu bringing the total number to 45. and it's not just kids who are at risk especially now that we're learning the flu vaccine

is even less effects tiff than what was previously thought. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman at the big board with what families need to know. >> we won't know for sure if this year is worse than other years until towards the end of the season but we do know right now that we are in the thick of it at widespread activity and that predominant strain that h3n2 we know that it is already known to cause severe illness and the vaccine we now know overall is only 23 percent effective and it is worse for some age groups. for under 18 the flu vaccine is 26 percent effective. 18 to 49, only 12 percent effective. and 50 and older, it is 14 percent effective. that last group includes the elderly who are in one of the high risk groups. the other high risk groups are the very young, pregnant women and anyone with chronic medical problems including

obesity. so here's the message. if you or a loved one is in one of those high risk groups or if you have severe symptoms something like high fever, severe fatigue or tightness in your chest, then you want to call your doctor as soon as those symptoms start. if you can take an antiviral in the first 48 hours of the flu, it can help to lessen the severity of the illness. now, as for the vaccine despite it not being a good match for the mutated h3n2 it is still recommended this year and here's why. >> even with these low levels, it's going to save many, many lives and one thing we often see with flu is after this first wave of flu another strain comes through. >> reporter: and that vaccine does cover three or four different strains so if that happens then you should be covered if you got the flu shot. be on the lookout for severe symptoms, make sure you're washing your hands and of course stay away from others who are sick. monica and sharrie, back over to you. >> thank you ali. >> thanks. >> still ahead on "action

a live look here you can see the activity that's happening. at least two people have been injured in an accident on the new jersey transit river line in burlington county. we're told this all started around 4 o'clock this afternoon. the accident was reported at saint mihiel and chester avenue in delran. officials saying a river line light rail collided with another vehicle. so, as you can see investigators on the scene at this point. you can see the crashed vehicle in the lower right portion of your screen. also as you can see the line is not running so this has halted in there area. delays are expected and are happening as we speak. of course if we get more information we'll pass it along throughout this newscast. the retailer wet seal has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. the company that caters to young women plans to keep operating all stores during the bankruptcy process though. there are 173 wet seal stores in 42 states and puerto rico.

>> time now for the accuweather forecast. meteorologist cecily tynan is giving us a look at what we can expect for the weekend. >> and it's going to be a 50-50 weekend. it will be sunny and dry but cold on saturday and it's going to be wet on sunday and storm tracker 6 live double scan shows showing right now we do have some snow flurries right along the i-95 corridor just to the north and east of philadelphia the burlington bristol bridge one of our "action news" viewers tweeted out they saw some flurries not amounting to much but this is with a cold front that will really usher in a big chill overnight and tomorrow. right now philadelphia 40 degrees. our high 43. 3 degrees above normal for a change. didn't feel like that with the winds. allentown 32. wilmington 39. trenton 34. and millville currently 37 degrees. but the winds definitely a factor. winds right now sustained out of the west-northwest 18 miles per hour in philadelphia. we had wind gusts up to about 35 miles per hour. so that makes the wind chill feel about 10 degrees cooler than the air temperature. and tonight it really cools

>> ♪♪ >> hello again, rick is off tonight. sharrie williams joins us and here's what's happening on "action news" tonight. a meeting of the minds today at the white house. president obama and british prime minister cameron talk cyber security sanctions and terrorism. we are live. several montgomery county high school students in trouble with the law following a sexting scandal. and delaware's first medical marijuana clinic is getting ready to open this weekend. we'll have more on what the center will offer. >> and now the details in a show of unity president obama and british prime minister david cameron are joining efforts to fight domestic terrorism in light of the attacks in france. the leaders made the announcement following a meeting at the white house today. president obama and mr. cameron also vowed to beef up cyber security in the wake of several high profile hack attacks. abc's karen traverse is live in washington, d.c. with more on today's meeting. karen. >> reporter: good evening, sharrie. president obama says working with the uk on cyber security

is a new approach to fighting terrorism and governments now need to go into those places where terrorists are communicating and organizing. president obama has already issued five veto threats to the republican controlled congress and today he added another voicing his opposition to bipartisan legislation that would impose new sanctions on iran while international negotiations on a nuclear deal are still under way. >> there is no good argument for us to try to under cut the negotiations until they've played themselves out. >> reporter: the iran nuclear talks have hit several speed bumps. negotiators now have until a march target date to reach an agreement and if a deal is not reached -- >> i will be the first one to come to congress and say we need to tighten the screws. >> reporter: even british prime minister david cameron has gotten involved lobbying u.s. lawmakers before his visit to the white house today. >> yes, i've contacted a couple of senators this morning and i may speak to were one or two more this afternoon. >> reporter: the u.s. and uk

announce add new cooperation on cyber security. later this year the two nations will hold the first ever joint cyber security and network defense exercise. and the fbi and nsa will work with their british counterparts to increase data sharing and coordination. president obama says this isn't just to protect consumers and corporations. it's also another tool in the fight against terrorism. >> social media and the internet is the primary way in which these terrorists organizations are communicating. >> reporter: both leaders say they want to do this in a legal way and hope that companies like twitter and facebook will cooperate with the u.s. and uk governments. reporting live from washington, karen travers channel6 "action news." >> all right thank you karen. a congressional delegation is headed to cuba for the first time in decades. six members of congress are going ton a fact finding mission. they will meet with cuban officials and diplomats to further normalize relations.

senators patrick lay lee dick durbin deb debee and sheldon white house along with representatives kristen holland and peter welch will arrive tomorrow and they'll stay through monday. world news tonight with david muir will have much more on today's white house summit between president obama and prime minister cameron as well as the easing of sanctions against cuba. you can watch all that following "action news" after 6:00. >> we have breaking news for you now. this is happening at this hour. we have the very latest from upper darby where sources tell "action news" there has been a police-involved shooting. it was a traffic stop that went bad earlier this evening. and we do know that it happened in the vicinity of 69th and walnut. again, police were not shot but one suspect is in custody. however, some officers were slightly injured. we don't know the nature of their injuries but they were not shot. shots were fired again details remain incomplete but one person in custody after something went wrong after a traffic stop in upper darby. >> meantime a group of students at neshaminy high school are in trouble with the

law after they were caught exchanging text messages containing sexually explicit photos of other teens. "action news" reporter david henry has the story. >> reporter: some neshaminy skins have been showing too much skin on their cell phones and they now face criminal charges. middletown township police have issued citations to eight students for allegedly sharing sexual images on their cell phones. >> this is not just something to fool around with. >> reporter: michelle walsh heads the bucks county d.a.'s juvenile division. she can't comment on the neshaminy case but what happened there now applies to kids everywhere under state law. walsh says sexting is not kid's play and there are now serious consequences. >> they could range from anything that you could get in juvenile court from probation to placement outside the home depending on the nature of the case. >> reporter: the neshaminy sexting came to light two and a half months ago when some students saw the images on phones in the school and reported them.

they will enter a program for nonviolent offenders. the d.a. is reminding others to be careful. >> you take that expect the world to see it and know you could be in violation of the law if you document we wanted to know if the neshaminy school district has policies in place and how it hams situations like this but a district spokesperson says no comment. in langhorne david henry channel6 "action news." >> camden county authorities are looking for the person who shot a man and left him on the street. it happened just after 1:00 this afternoon on the 700 block of bailey street in camden. detectives found the victim with a gun shot wound to the chest. he was rushed to cooper medical center but his condition has not been released. well, this is philadelphia resident vinnie taylor. this actually isn't the video but vinnie taylor, he's been arrested in saint louis on second degree murder charges stemming from an incident in a washington, d.c. area hotel. authorities say taylor injected a woman's buttocks

with some type of substance to make it larger. this is vinnie taylor but the woman became ill and checked herself in the hospital where she later died. taylor has been extradited from saint louis to maryland to face charges. >> two brothers, one a berks county middle schoolteacher are under arrest for allegedly selling heroin out of their montgomery county home. this is brian and dusten cook. authorities executed a search warrant in their home. they say they found 407 bags of heroin packaging material and cash. dusten cook is currently a little schoolteacher in the reading school district but detectives say there's no indication he sold drugs at the school. a 42-year-old man survived being shot several times by an unknown gunman in the west philadelphia area overnight. it happened in a car parked on ludlow near south sickle street. officers found the victim shot five times in the front seat. they believe he was shot by someone sitting in the back seat. authorities are now checking

surveillance cameras in that area trying to identify a suspect. >> officials at philadelphia's new family court building have to close it down today. they say an emergency plumbing issue is to blame. everyone was evacuated so repair crews could address the problem. officials have not said how long repairs will take or when the family court building will be back opened. >> time now to get a look at what's happening on the roads. we head over to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. hey, matt. >> any better out there? >> you know, not really, monica and sharrie but the crash that we had here on the schuylkill expressway westbound past city avenue is gone. however, damage is done. you're looking at a really slow ride westbound on the schuylkill the whole way from university through this point and those delays are spilling back onto adjoining roadways like this one the roosevelt boulevard extension southbound stacks from fox street down to this point at 76. vine street expressway westbound also backed up headed towards 76. that means the ben franklin bridge westbound a solid line

from the mid span on into eighth and vine so who knew a little fender-bender could cause such damage. this is 95. normal northbound backup by girard avenue. from 11 o'clock until 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon watch out for extra restrictions in the ongoing work zone on 95 northbound. probably a good spot to avoid. have a good weekend monica and sharrie. back to you. >> thank you matt. >> thank you matt. >> we have an update on that situation in upper darby. an "action news" crew is on the scene very active scene a number of police vehicles and that appears to be perhaps the suspect vehicle. again, this is what happened. shots were fired during a traffic stop that went bad earlier this evening. police tried to stop someone at 66th and walnut. that's when gunfire rang out. we don't know if the suspect exchanged the gunfire first or what exactly happened but one suspect is in custody. police officers, a couple were slightly injured but they were not shot. so, we'll have more as soon as we get it from our "action news" crew that's there on the ground. >> still to come on "action news" this half hour, heart

mall parking lot and smashed into a department store. it happened in newark, california. 15-year-old alyssa pagent gambino's feet were run over by the car. doctors say they would have been severed if she had not been wearing a pair of ugg boots. when it was all over she said she got herself on the ground she was not able to stand up but she didn't care because her feet were only broken can. at least she still had them. she was more worried about her friend she says. >> i couldn't find my friend. i didn't care about me. i only cared about her when i couldn't find her. >> sadly alyssa's friend was dragged under the front of the car through the store. she is still recovering. police think the 63-year-old woman driver had a medical condition causing her to lose control and crash. to albums. thank you cable, because
