sunday night here's is what happening on "action news" at 11:30, the state of pennsylvania is about to begin the wolf era as new governor is sworn in this week. plus a stunning story of survival, this man trapped in between two semi trucks, manager toes walk a away with just a few bruises, how he managed to escape this tricky position. and from the pages of history to the big screen and back to the streets of alabama, a historic march is recreated as those who stood up for equality are remember. but first federal and local law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspicious potentially dangerous incident near the home of vice-president joe biden in delaware. secret service is report ago this last night at 8:25 officers heard several gunshots, before a vehicle sped away. "action news" reporter wendy saltman has details. >> reporter: vice-president and his wife doctor jill bier often spend their weekend here out in delaware which was, in fact, the case this weekend but authorities tell us this

he were out for the evening at the time that the incident took place and it may have, in fact been a drive by shooting or it may have just been random shots fired, authorities say, that they are investigating that potential threat tonight. the new castle county home of vice-president joe biden is quiet tonight, the entrance under heavy guard protecting the house that is set several hundred feet off of the road. it was here out front of the guard shack that a secret service spokesperson says one of the guard heard multiple shots fired in the area of the residents, and then witnessed a vehicle fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. officers set up around the home and check the property, but were unsuccessful locating any suspects. authorities say that one person was questioned but found not to be involved in the shooting. at this point we have no description of the vehicle and no word of shell casing found near the house. there was in damage to the biden house, or neighboring

residence. and, outside of the established security perimeter. there were reports of more shots fired, a short time later at a nearby reservoir, the vice-president's home is located in a heavily wooded area and it is not visible from a main road. secret service fbi and delaware police are continuing to investigate this incident they say even if there was no intended target or damage done they still want to necessity who pulled the the trigger, and why. in new castle county i'm wendy saltsman for channel six "action news". tom wolf will be sworn in as pennsylvania's new governor on tuesday. businessman turned politician will take the oath of office in an outdoor ceremony at the state capitol. he is reportedly planning a more low key celebration then his predecessor, there will be no formal ball, fire works, or parade, and instead there will be a part ate hershey lodge with live music and pennsylvania theme food. pennsylvania historians are working to salvage an old

prison destroyed by fire. officialness north um ber land county say prison is a total loss, and they say it cannot be rebuilt at the current location, but county historical society and sunbury old town council says the the the 140 year-old prison is too historically and architectural significant to ignore. officials are working on a solution that is cost effective and a satisfies local historians. investigators are trying to figure out why a man hit by a car in south philadelphia overnight had been lying in the road. police were called to the intersection of 53rd and baltimore avenue just before 2:00 a.m. woman told police she dragged a man for half block before she realized he was beneath her suv. last check victims remain in critical condition. in newark, delaware investigators are looking into whether alcohol played a role in this nasty crash. police say a feast mail driver crossed in the opposite lane and hit a jeep head on. it happened on paper mill million road near submit mill

road near 1:00 a.m. it took fire fighters almost 30 in minutes to free would the man from her car, she was hospitalized in critical condition. well icy road resulted in absolute chaos on the roadways all across the region n fact three people were killed. the just before 7:00 a.m. so-called flash freeze resulted in chain reaction crash involving 56 vehicles on the schuylkill. it was here where one of those victims was killed. thirty-one year-old eric blah of philadelphia died after he left the his disabled vehicle and was struck by a car. it doesens more were injured. there were so many injuries buses were brought into get the the injured to local hospitals. in broomall delaware county two people were killed in the terrible crash there. tractor trailer jackknifed and three endedded up pinned beneath big rig. to drivers died. they are identified as thomas brennan of lansdale and jason anderson of dover dell will wear. a man from oregon survived a crash that ended with him sandwiched between two semis. you see him right there take a

close look 27 year-old caleb whitney trapped in the wreckage of what was his pickup truck. he flipped after smashing into a jackknife tractor trailer and another truck slammed into him. collision was part of the 26 vehicle pile up that shut down an interstate there. other people who crashed pulled him out and believe it or not, he walked away with just bumps a and bruises. doctor martin luther king junior will be honored tomorrow all across the nation with the day of service. once again philadelphia will lead the nation in service projects, 135,000 volunteers are expect to spend the holiday working on 1800 projects, in our area. 5,000 will take part in the signature event at girard college. this is the 20th year for the greater philadelphia, mlk day of service. as we honor legacy of doctor martin luther king we will remember the cruelty endured for those who for the from equal rights. episode chronicled in the new movie called selma. today stars of the movie commemorated doctor king's

historic march with a march of their own. here's abc's tom lamas. >> reporter: walking in to the footsteps of greatness hundreds of marchers retraced the path of doctor martin luther king junior when he led protesters on a march from selma alabama to the state capitol of montgomery on the road to justice. fifty years ago marchers were beaten and tear gassed on the edmond petus bridge image among the most infamous of the civil rights era. tonight selma greeted doctor king's people with open arms. >> martin luther king was shot for the work that he did and neglect that it is very hum blink. >> reporter: oprah winfrey led the marchers, she plays ann cooper a arrested outside the courthouse after striking the sheriff. >> every single person who was on that bridge is a hero. >> reporter: other stars from the half movie were on hand

we have untreated surfaces, any puddles or standing water, things will ice up quickly with temperatures dipping tonight. here's satellite six with action radar. you can see moisture moving up in areas of upstate new york and northern sections of new england, we will break out into clearing skies throughout the rest of the overnight hours and into early tomorrow morning. here's the concern in, to the morning rush, temperatures tonight will be dropping down below 32 degrees so refreeze is likely and already occurring for spots north and west. standing water, any untreated surfaces bridges, overpasses, give yourself extra time for the commute tomorrow morning because things look like they are dry but they will have that glaze of ice over and sometimes you cannot see that. we call it black ice and patchy ice. slick spots north and west in allentown, high temperatures will be in the upper 30's. at the shore tomorrow nice mixture of sunshine and cloud. it will be wind which a high temperature of 42 degrees. moisture moves out unshine returns with high pressure on

all right, randy, so this is what you have hidden all the way in pottstown. hey, welcome to manatawny still works. this is no joke, you've got a serious operation going on here. manatawny still works opened in april is, for now montgomery county's only active distillery >> we've got our vodka, unaged rum, an unaged whiskey, and just released our first aged whiskey. >> this is kind of a breaking bad operation going on in here. but it's all legal, right? absolutely, nothing illegal going on in here. this is actually our pot still is running today. so this isn't really drinkable as it is right now? you could. >> you could stick your finger in there and try it, but it's coming off the still at about 150 proof right now. wow. >> the still removes what's called the heads and tails, to get to the heart, which is what you drink. >> so you guys are kind of piggy-backing off the whole craft beer craze? >> exactly. it's almost the next revolution of that. >> you can even get schooled in the art of their spirits at their tasting room. >> we're a full service bar serving signature cocktails and new inventions. thursday night friday night saturday sundays the place is packed. >> you go ahead and have this. i have to run out and check a couple more. >> the just opened new liberty distilleries in northern liberties is a throwback to the pre-prohibition era. >> it's a throwback, a throwback to pre-prohibition when pennsylvania had over 1200 licensed distilleries within the state. >> founder robert cassell is a pioneer in pennsylvania's craft distilling movement.

>> when i first actually started distilling here in pennsylvania, it was the first licensed micro distillery i >> he lobbied harrisburg to make it easier for other small distillers to operate. since the laws were relaxed in 2012, the number of distillers has grown from 7 to 22 >> the new liberty distillery serves as the show room for the line of stills that i designed as well as the manufacturing point for our kinsey whiskey. >> his kinsey is a nod to the iconic brand by the same name that was made in suburban philadelphia through the 1950s. >> we have one sample from 1938 of a mini bottle that we used to mimic what this product was. >> next we hit rowhouse spirits on frankford ave where owner and distiller dean browne is creating the craft spirits scene in fishtown. >> in 2013 i got laid off from my corporate job and, uh, so i had to make a decision, you know, do i go back and get another, you know, or do i do what i really wanna do. so i made the decision to open rowhouse spirits.

>> that was in august. among dean's handcrafted spirits? an herbal liquor he calls bear trap. >> so it gets, um, gets flavored with all 19 herbs before distillation, and then after distillation i put in fresh herbs, thyme, tarragon, rosemary, ginger, and then i finish it off with, uh, some hibiscus roast hips and chili peppers. and it gives it a little bite at the end. it takes about two weeks to make about 100 bottles of bear trap. >> dean also distills a gin and, his personal favorite, whiskey. >> everything you get from me has been touched my me and made by me. >> that's why you'll find his image on the bottle. next we're off to pipersville p-a and hewn spirits. >> well, hewn is sort of a shout out to my day job where i am converting antique barns into one of a kind homes and uh, in the process of learning to distill i started using some really cool, started using some really cool reclaimed woods for aging >> sean tracy uses the wood from those antique barns to construct his rum barrels >> it connects both of my passions with converting barns and the old wood along with the distilling so here it is history in a bottle. >> he's also experimenting with aging his spirits with other historic woods. >> being an old wood guy and an old navy guy, i served in the navy. i thought it would be really neat to have a rum that touched someth
