restrictions in cuba stands up for democratic values and extends the hand of friendship to the cuban people. >> reporter: talks began in havana between the two about re-opening embassies in each. millions were watching and tweeting as the president praised the economic rebound and vowed to defeat isis. >> but what about those other moments, the speech just under an hour his second shortest ever interrupted 81 times by applause or standing ovations. >> those so-called date nights of the past when democrats and republicans sat together no more. and for the first time in any state of the union speech these words lesbian bisexual transgender. >> we'll have much more on the state of the union later in the show including the moment that lit up twitter coming up in "the pulse." breaking news overnight overseas a terror attack in israel. a palestinian man stabbed nine people wounding some of them seriously on a bus in central tel aviv before he was chased down shot and arrested.

hamas praised the attack. the assault was the latest in a series of attacks in which palestinians have used knives acid and vehicles as weapons in recent months. also breaking now, french prosecutors have issued the first charges stemming from the paris terror attacks. four men have been charged with supporting amedy coulibaly the gunman who killed four hostages. authorities are still searching for other accomplices linked to the shootings which started at the "charlie hebdo" newspaper. the clock is ticking for two japanese hostages. featured in a terrifying new video released by isis. the masked militant dubbed jihadi john vows to behead the men if japan does not pay a $200 million ransom by tomorrow the same amount of money that japan just pledged to help countries affected by isis. but the japanese prime minister says no ransom will be paid. >> new details about the final moments of that many doed

airasia flight. indonesiaen investigators say it climbed too fast. commercial planes ascend 1,000 or 2,000 feet per minute. but radar data shows the airbus was climbing at about 6,000 feet a minute. but it's not clear why. the black boxes are still being analyzed. back here at home crews in maryland are expected to begin searching the remains of a 16,000-square-foot house where six family mells are still missing after a fire. relatives believe the family four grandchildren and their grandparents were inside at the time of the fire. the fire department says that water in the basement plus unstable steel beams and walls have made the house too dangerous to enter. those search efforts may be economy catted by more snow expected to fall over parts of arnold. >> justin povick joins us now for a look at the nation's weather. good morning, justin. >> reena and kendis thanks the south plains also looking quite wintry on this wednesday. colder air meets up with some

of a self-inflicted gunshot room in an examining room. his mother had gotten care at the hospital before she died. new details this morning about the teen couple from kentucky arrested in florida after a two-week crime spree across the south and jailhouse interview dalton hayes said his girlfriend said she was being abused at home and said he thought she was pregnant and they ran away after he found out that she had lied to him about her age. >> she told me she had it tough. she had all that good stuff and she said i'm 18. i'm not lying to you. as denied the abuse allegation. she's been placed in the custody of children's services and hayes is awaiting extradition to kentucky. also looking for answers this morning, a woman in suburban new york city wondering what drove her husband to literally bulldoze their home.

diane shack of middletown new york says she came home to an empty lot where their house used to be. police say her husband james rhein rented an excavator and knocked the house down which was legally hers with all their belongings inside. his wife stunned. >> none of my belongings were taken out. everything was in the house. we weren't fighting or arguing. i don't know what happened. i don't know anything. >> the couple was in the middle of a renovation. rhein allegedly told investigators the house was in such bad shape it couldn't be repaired so he got rid of it. >> okay. well health headline. a new study claims drinking more coffee could fight cancer and looked at more than 400,000 people and found those who drank the most coffee had a 20% lower chance of developing skin cancer than those who drank less of it. much arers say more study is needed but that sounds like a good reason to pour another cup. >> as if we needed one.
