>> what i think everybody should be worried about is when it ices over. that's the real danger. >> icy roads are a big concern this morning especially after last weekend's flash freeze and deadly crashes. snow hit most overnight and for some now it changed over to rain. the action cam was in horsham overnight. two tractor-trailers got stuck 611 near broadway while trying to drive up the snow-covered highway there. and roads in warminster, bucks

county were covered in snow early this morning. but here on york road cars were not having much trouble getting by as the snow continues to come down. the action cam was in center city 3:45 this morning as a light snow fell at 15 and jfk. a light dusting of snow covered the roads as well as near city hub. the ground was covered off rizzo statue. mobile 6 is out on the roads on the schuylkill expressway westbound just past gladwyne exit. you can see it does not appear that mobile 6 is having any trouble on the roads right now there. sky6hd taking a look at the conditions at philadelphia international airport. camera jumping a little in the wind this morning. for the most part it looks like there's slush on the ground. not anything bad there. there have been a number of cancellations and delays most have been with southwest airlines. so far no official faa delay is

in force. as always call ahead if you have a flight. call 1-800-phl-gate. let's head down now to the shore. let's look at conditions in atlantic city. it's been mostly a rain event in this area. now a look at the first state. a live look sky6 in wilmington, delaware there. and it looks clear right now in wilmington. we have live team coverage of the snow and rain from our nor'easter. meteorologist chris sowers is tracking the remnants of the storm. "action news" reporter john rawlins is in the suburbs taking a look at conditions. let's begin with chris with the latest from accuweather. chris. >> good morning you to, eva. a lot of this is already over with. if you're waking up just now the bulk of storm on double scan already pulled through. we'll make a couple of zooms. some areas reporting snow and others seeing mixing between sleet and freezing rain. bulk from city to south jersey

and delaware switched over to rain. we're zoomed into the lehigh valley. northeast extension, still reporting light snow. this is area the heaviest is falling up to this point we had reports of as much as 3 to 5" of snow has fallen in this area here. route 100 222, in the clear right now. we're seeing drier air work its way in. further to the southeast getting closer to the city you see the mixing. that shade of blue we're reporting sleet and freezing rain lansdale, doylestown reporting sleet and rain, 476 276, schuylkill is wet. we have slushy areas out there. most of the roadways closer to the city are wet. back roadways are snow covered. we go further south and east to south jersey and delaware. temperatures shot up to the mid 30s at this point and switched over to rain. 322 white horse pike. black horse pike. route 40 wet here. doesn't look like we're seeing issues. rain is tapering off and

heaviest is working its way out to sea. fleetwood, ewing mercer county 5, mount holly 2.2" and philadelphia picking up an inch. road conditions snow covered in the lehigh valley and poconos. drive slowly out there. good news is again all the moisture starting to wind down. it will allow the road crews to get ahead of the things here. in the city immediate surrounding northwest suburbs back roadways snow covered and main roadways wet or slush covered. wet roadways in delaware. we're seeing pondings on the roads because the slush we saw earlier is clogging drains. we're getting a lot of puddles on roads. 34 in philadelphia, millville 33 wilmington 34. good sign all these areas above the freezing mark, allentown 30, 32 reading and lancaster showing 32. forecast for today, periods of rain. snow mixes back in later this

afternoon after 2:00 or so. this will not accumulate. by that point temperatures in the 30s. 37 your forecasted high. when i come back in a few minute we'll talk more about what is going on in your neighborhood with the storm system here and potential of another storm sunday night to monday that's straight ahead with the 7-day for cast in ten minute. >> thanks, chris. let's switch to "action news" reporter john rawlins in quakertown with a look at the conditions there, john. >> good morning eva. well we have overnight snow event. there's no doubt about it. when we got outside here 3:30 this morning in quakertown probably 4" of snow. light, fluffy snow. nice and pretty. at first vehicles on the roads up here, most of the vehicles it's not a stretch to say this had plows attached to them. they got to roads and parking lots and things looking pretty good here. talking to people we should have video talking to our photographer and wawa in

quakertown the idea is that there was zones of weather out there. they -- you saw in the video it start around philadelphia area north along 309 and went from snow to rain to sleet and back to rain to snow. and that seems to have been happening throughout the morning. right now what's falling here is sleet at this point in time. it's making for slow-going if you're out and about and this is maybe one of those sorts of days you say i'll wait a couple hours before i go out. if you go out as far as north as here you find the roads for the most part the main roads plowed and salted and you know the caveat always during the wintertime if you go out in this weather take it slow. take it slow you probably can get around pretty well. that's pretty much the situation in quakertown. live in quakertown, john rawlins, "channel 6 action news." >> eva. >> the action cam was out and about bensalem bucks county while still snowing this is street road, route 13. salt trucks were busy treating

a gunshot wound to the elbow. police are searching for the shooter. philadelphia police are also investigating a deadly shooting involving a teen. a 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest last night along the 2000 block of north lambert street in north philadelphia and later died from wound at temple university hospital. police have no suspects or motive in the shooting. >> a 1-month-old baby girl is hospitalized this morning after 25% of her face was mauled by her family's pet feret it happened thursday afternoon at the girl's home in darby borough. two of three family pet per et cetera escaped from a cloth cage as the infant sky isabel sat in her car seat next to themch the baby's mother was upstairs and ran down when she heard sky being attacked. bernie frame woke up to his fiancee's extremes. >> when i came down she was right here holding the baby not moving you know what i mean.

she was histerkle. >> darby police are investigating. they say the infant underwent life saving surgery after her parents called 911. she has a lifetime of surgery ahead. the three ferrets were euthanized and they call the living conditions in the home deplorablech the infant's four other siblings were placed in the care of family members. the family of a smyrna, delaware woman is asking the community to join in their search for moming of four. keesha hamilton has been missing since january 10 when she disappeared with 4-year-old own 4-month-old. the children were located safely in indyap awith cortez hamilton their father there's been no sign of kiesha and her family believes she was harmed. >> he texted me the night before stating if anything was to happen to her that the police should check cortez because she was afraid of him the night before her disappearance.

areas and north and west we have more. everything switching to rain now. we have slushy roadways in a lot of the area. live on sky6 we'll show what you is going on. in atlantic city and they're seeing the fog. they switched to rain actually. they didn't see too much snow with this at all. most ev south jersey started to see ocean influence takeover again. just like what happened last sunday when we had the ocean influence taking over temperatures in the 40s. a similar situation is happening here most of south jersey and delaware temperatures in the 30s above freezing and everything switched over to rain. winter warm advisory switches to the areas shaded in lavender that includes chester delaware philadelphia lower montgomery and bucks and lancaster county for a combination of snow, sleet and ice. and in this area here this pinkish color far northwestern suburbs lehigh valley and poconos we have a winter storm warning this warning will go into effect now through 11:00 this the morning. snow totals range 3 to 6" and a

lot of area is upper end of this three to six inches and snow covered roadways and a lot of that in the lehigh valley and smaw power out annuals. the weight of the snow it's wet heavy snow. it's not like the light snow to brush with a broom. it sticks to everything here. weight of that snow could create power outages in the lehigh valley and for the poconos as well. for everybody else, though, this changed over to a mixture of sleet or freezing rain or even rain. we'll zoom into bucks county now. here's quakertown and doylestown we're picking up lighter color of blue. that's where we're reporting sleet and freezing rain. north east extension headed to lehigh valley looks like you're in the clear right now. clear as far as anything falling and again some of the roadways are still rather slick. main roads could be slippery with slush-covered areas and most of the back roadways are completely snow covered up there. drive slow. take your time this morning in south jersey as you can see this is all rain.

we're seeing liquid precipitation out here. numbers shot up into the mid 30s. glassboro drizzle and east into western portions of atlantic county again this is rain pushing rapidly into ocean and monmouth counties and off the coast within the next half hour or so. then we catch a break in the action. and then more moisture moves in during the late-morning hours into first part of the afternoon. it won't be as heavy as what we saw in the overnight and probably won't stick by the time it gets in here temperatures are climbing above freezing. bulk is now winding down and pushing away. visibility wise, 7 mills in philadelphia, 3 reading, about a mile in allentown. snow coming down moderately. four in millville and six in wildwood and three miles in atlantic city. temperatures for the most part everybody shot above the freezing mark of 32. the exception being far northwest to the lehigh valley and poconos this is great news.

even in here even though we switched to rain in the i-95 corridor there will be no icing here as the numbers are too warm now and they'll continue to climb throughout the day. we'll set it to motion for you 9:30 34 philadelphia, millville 36 even allentown and reading you're above 32. this is wonderful news. doesn't look like too much in the way of icing. there could be a little bit. certainly nothing compared to what we dealt with last surprised when we had the sneak attack so to speak with the ice event. future tracker 6 showing first round pulling through by 9:30 more showers pushing into the area. note the rain snow line it's up in the lehigh valley and poconos at that point and lunchtime drying out and leftover rain or snow showers in the late afternoon. really that's not going to amount to all that much. temperatures will drop off overnight tonight. could be patchy areas of black ice developing and getting into tomorrow tomorrow is fine sunday night to monday here

comes a next system clipper fast moving system these snows will be one, lightser in amounts and also much lighter as far as what we're expecting. we're expecting 1 to 2" out of that. total snowfall accumulations range 3 to 5 north west and 1 to 3 in city and icing could be an issue offer the next couple hours a tenth to two tenth in this area here. it will be be power lanes. anything untreated trees small accumulation of ice bridges and overpasses and sidewalks and drive ways. again bottom line for this morning into the first part of the afternoon. take it easy. drive slowly. walk like a penguin and make sure everything is okay here and you'll get to where you need to go safely. 37 in philadelphia today. rain at times may be mixing in with snow later this afternoon once again. wilmington 39, cape may 42. dover 40. the exclusive accuweather 7 day forecast 42 sunday. sun increasing clouds in the afternoon.

>> we're looking live now at a disabled vehicle stuck there in the snow on 422 west at oaks montgomery county. remember the roads are slick. so even if they look clear you still need to be careful as you head out this morning. in "healthcheck" the number of flu related deaths in the state of delaware has gone up. public health officials say death toll for this flu season stands at 19. up four in a week. and more than double any season in the past five years. the number of confirmed cases now stands at 1826 up nearly 200 from a week ago. this is a sign of hoy difficult this cold and flu season is. there's a shortage of precipitation cough syrup at least in one state. both neighborhood and chain pharmacys in california are running out of adult again eric could have sear ups with codeine. some don't expect a supply until

>> good morning to you. you are taking a look at snowfall ago cross the area for us this morning. this is a look now in center city. here at philadelphia center city city hall and montgomery county and beyondch the entire tri-state is waking up to this winter weather this morning. and snow has fallen across the region for us. the action cam was at the 69 street terminal upper darby delaware county overnight. you can see the snow on the ground as those buses pulled into station for those waiting to catch a ride. remember if you're out and about take it slow. roads may be slick. and this was the scene at springfield square shopping
