>> it was snowing by us. buckingham was all done, snow, rain. the a as we came up this way, that is where it was rain and snow. >> reporter: tri-state area was blanketed in several areas of snow. how deep depended on where you are. this is what it looked like on the streets have mt. airy before dawn. if you were out driving road were passable and eventually the rain washed snow away in many places. but drivers say that things were dicey at times. >> i had a guy this morning on 309, stop in the middle of the road. he was cleaning the the snow off his car. i a said this is a bad idea. >> reporter: they call it freezing for a reason. today snowstorm was not enough to stop hundreds of people from taking a polar plunge, into the frigid water of the delaware river. it happen pattern in mini state park at noon time and the goal, was to raise money for special olympics pennsylvania. the the screams give you an idea what it is like to jump in to water that is 38 degrees. >> freezing. i mean it feels like my legs were going to fall off it is

so cold but it is for a good cause. it was well worth it. >> reporter: most people would rather deal with the snow, then a swim like that. >> it is rough. in town it is not the too bad. they did a good job salting. but i had somebody stop on me quick i quickly and i slipped a little bit. >> the the road are wet. some a accumulation up here but nothing down. so it has been easy for us. >> reporter: so this snow event didn't turnout to be so bad, don't relax yet, is there still more coming our way n bensalem i'm nora muchanic for channel six "action news". developing news out of atlanta where two bomb threats forced norad to get fighter jets in the air this afternoon. threats which were sent through twitter targeted a delta flight and southwest flight landing at heartsfield jackson international airport. officials also say this they deem those threats as credible. the flights both landed safely and the planes are being swept for explosives. the the threat originated from

a twitter account that had only 11 total tweets, ten of which are related to threat begins airlines. there is new information tonight, linked to a hit and run in port richmond that ended with a grandmother in a comb a6 five-year old carmen ramos is recovering from severe injuries she suffered when she was hit while her family and philadelphia police are pleading with information to find the the person responsible. "action news" reporter kenneth moton joins us live at the scene, of the 3100 block of cedar street with an up dade kenneth. >> reporter: well, walter, tonight the good news is that the six five-year old grandmother is doing better. the bad nefs, yes, police are still searching for the driver who hit her on the street and left her to die. this is six five-year old carmen ramos a full of life type of woman who just loved to dress up in silly clothes and have fun with her grand kids. but her family says she was almost taken away in an instant on this port richmond street. >> we all heard an impact but i heard my sister screaming,

nobody realized that my mother was hit by a car. >> reporter: family members say three weeks ago on friday, january 2nd, around 5:00 p.m. ramos was about to get in a car on the 31 hundred block of cedar street when a passing vehicle struck her. the impact took out the the passenger side mirror of the dark colored ford explorer before the driver just simply kept going. >> a man has an accident, maybe it wasn't an accident. all they had to do was stop. >> mommies human. the it could have been their mother or daughter or anyone that they love. please step forward and help my mom. help us understand what happened that night. >> reporter: ramos who lives in juniata was here in port richmond spending time with her family for the holidays. she was in a coma, until this week. ramos came out of it she's responsive. she's breathing on her own. >> my mother, she would have helped anybody in the streets. me growing up young i remember her bringing people up the street just to feed them soup, you know, just for lunch to give them something hot in their stomach. >> reporter: now their family is looking for help to find

the hit and run driver of the 195 to 1998 ford explorer, which could still have damage to its front right passenger side. >> once he sees it, and he realizes that he hit a person, he will do the right thing. i know he well. i forgive him. >> reporter: well, police continue their search for this hit and run driver, carmen ramos has a long road a ahead. her family says that she still cannot speak and she will be most likely moved to the rehab center in a few days walter. reporting live from port richmond kenneth moton for channel six "action news". >> kennel, thanks for that report. an investigation is underway in the carbon monoxide incident in the olney section today. two people were sent to the hospital. it happen just before 4:00 this afternoon on the 300 block of roosevelt boulevard. neighbors here complained of headaches. officials say that the situation was under control in about a half an hour. no word tonight where the carbon monoxide was coming from. in delaware, police are searching for two thieves who robbed a bank this afternoon. it happened at the wells fargo

branch on the 800 block of philadelphia pike in bellefonte. investigators say two armed men held up the bank around a noon and fled with cash. one suspect was wearing a mask. there is no word yet tonight if witnesses or cameras got a good lot at other. last night's nor'easter was no match for parents determined to get their children into school lane charter school in bensalem. a whole bunch of moms ape dads as you can see camped out outside overnight in order to be first in line this morning for sign ups. officials say, they are not sure how many spots are opening up in other grades but as for the kindergarten class starting this fall only 125 spots are available a. simply current students are given first crack at opened slots and then bensalem residents and then out of towners. >> i just want to give her an opportunity to hopefully get her into this charter school to do a good job. she's a good student. we give a chance for the students to learn outside of the box. we don't do things the the

volunteers will search again tomorrow for a young mother who disappeared from her home in delaware two weeks ago. keisha hamilton went missing january 11th a along with her two children age four years and four months. the the children were found with their cortez hamilton in indian at next day. cortez hamilton has been since a arrested on charges including child endangerment and assault but keisha has not been seen or heard from ever since. her family is organizing a search which will start at the chest world fire station at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. philadelphia city council member ken johnson kick off his reelection campaign today. large crowd gather at programs employing people office in center city this afternoon among these showing their support nor johnson former pennsylvania governor ed rendell and philadelphia's mayor michael nutter. well, members of the terror group isis claim a japanese hostage has been beheaded. is is threatened to execute two japanese men they captured

and quiet. notice precipitation right now. all of the moisture we had earlier today is moving off shore and moving off to the north and ease. we will show you the picture outside. action cam was outside earlier this afternoon. we are going to give you a shot of logan's square and a memorial fountain it is frozen over. look at the slush, on the sidewalks, and on the concrete. temperatures right now later on tonight will drop below freezing and in the middle 20's which means things will ice up fairly quickly across the delaware and lehigh valleys. give yourself extra time use some caution out and about. some more snowfall totals to share with you. macungie, lehigh county 8 inches of snow. allentown 7.8. martin's creek 7.3. east nanmeal 4.5 inches of have snowfall. burlington 2.8 inches. in philadelphia we pick up an inch, before things transitioned and change over to rain. outside tonight when you look at the the temperatures, most spots in the upper 30's. the wind chills with those west to northeasterly wind makes it feel like 30 in the city. the current wind chill in

trenton 31. beach haven 39. thirty-four in the poconos. current wind chill lancaster of 26 degrees. satellite six with action raid are a. the thinks our storm system we had for a start of the weekend. very messy start here on our saturday. that storm system is departing to the north and east. that nor'easter is out of here just as we say good bye to one storm, we're tracking a clipper system that will arrive, owe sat the light six with action radar shows you that clipper, diving out of the, canada region, moving into northern plains. this will work its the way eastward as early as sunday night into monday. we will time it out and future tracker six showing you most of the day tomorrow we will be dry. 9:00 in the morning. mostly sunny start. and as the day wears on sun will give way to increasing cloud. we're still dry at 9:00 o'clock on sunday night. then we will track that precipitation that will arrive after midnight. it is going to be a colder day sunday night into monday. the air will be dryer. so the snow will stick fairly quickly after midnight, and then the problem it will continue, for the commute tomorrow morning.

and this looks like a prolonged period of snow, where now we will have to allow for that snow to continue for most of the the day, on monday. so, what does this arctic boundary moving through and area have low pressure riding up along that the heavier of the snowfall with this clipper on monday will fall south of philadelphia expected snowfall in the early call, across area in ocean, burlington, counties south and west philadelphia, included in that 3-inch line but three to six south and east of the city and one to 3 inches as you move north. the problem with this clip ever system it looks like it wants to intensify off the coast monday night into tuesday. so something else to watch out for. future tracker six showing thaw storm system and that moisture monday night into tuesday, could pull west ward across the region. so a couple of things to watch out for as we watch the coast monday night into tuesday, key factors, the development of the low, the strength of the storm, and the the track of the system is going to determine the amount of precipitation that we see monday night into tuesday. so, a lot to watch out for in the the short term.
