>> good morning, it is 7:00 a.m. on this sunday, january 25. here's what's happening on "action news." storm tracker 6 live double scan live round two of snow and round three may be right behind it. meteorologist chris sowers has gathered the very latest timing and projection. >> new overnight a philadelphia police officer is hurt in a crash. >> and bomb threats via twitter targets two flights arriving in atlanta. first outside we go to meteorologist chris sowers and the snow in the accuweather forecast. >> reporter: if you're a snow lover, this might be your week. we have not one but two systems we're watching over the next 4 hours. the first one is a clipper

system could bring lighter snow to the area, but the second one has more ump to it. satellite and radar we've set it in motion for you. that has allowed the temperatures to stay milder because of the clouds overhead. pottstown, 37 degrees you're above freezing, but there are a few slick spots out here. i'm standing on the snow on the terrace. it's crunchy with. i can hear my feet breaking the snow apart. we have slick spots out there. saint davids. 4. chester, 34. center city, 34 and levittown 33 degrees. south and east we go there's not much snow on the ground across south jersey until you get into ewing and trenton, browns mills there's light snow, but everybody south of their we're seeing bare ground. there's not too many issues with black ice. 35 in glass bow -- glassboro.

woodbine, 33. increasing clouds, 43 degrees is the forecasted high. we should hit that around 2:00, 3:00 p.m., the gradual increase in high clouds that will be the flavor of the day. the winter storm watch goes into effect monday night into tuesday. this is what the modeling looks like. most of this will fall, what you're seeing even though it says next 72 hours, most of this will fall monday into tuesday with the second system. you can see the poor concensus within the model models. there's a lot of to discuss here when i step back inside in ten minutes, the timing the details i'll go over all that for you not only rounds number one but round number two and the cold shot to follow in the seven-day forecast. >> chris we'll stick with the

condition at the hospital of university of pennsylvania. the driver has been arrested an facing drunk driving charges. this story is new overnight police are looking for a trigger man in a drive-by shooting at rowan university campus, a 17-year-old boy was shot at the campus crossing apartments. the teen is being treated at the cooper university hospital. volunteers search today for a young mother from smyrna. kiesha happennal ton went missing along with her two children ages 4 and 4-month-old the children were found with the father they were unhurt. kiesha's family think hamilton harmed her. the search team for kiesha will gather at 8:00 a.m. at the fire station in new castle. the fbi is trying to track down the person who tweeted

there are several slick spots out there use caution and take it slow this morning. 36 degrees right now for philadelphia. well above freezing of 3 #. 28 is the -- 32. 28 is the dewpoint. winds out of the southwest. everybody is above 32 degrees. poconos, 30. allentown 35, philadelphia, 36. trenton 33. there's a breeze out of the southwest at 15 to 20 miles per hour. even though the temperatures are in the 30s. the windchills are in the 20s. this is the storm system we're watching tonight into tomorrow morning. it will redevelop off the coast and wallop new england tonight. this is the water vapor image the counter clockwise swirl is strengthening as it passes by

omaha and pushes into the northern plains heading to the ohio valley. today is a nice, quiet afternoon we'll see high temperatures in the low to mid 40s, should be nice across south jersey, normal high 32 degrees, then we get into the overnight hours after midnight. here comes the light snow breaking out west to east across the area which should transform its energy to a coastal storm. the coastal storm flows back, if this takes place these bands will have 4 to 50 miles per hour. we'll see snowfall rates 1 to 2 inches an hour. it could be a mess for everybody east of i-95 should the secondary storm intensify. this is the clipper system this is just about guard guaranteed. we'll see a swath of weather

from 2 to 3 i'm leaning toward 2. lancaster, reading philadelphia, lake hurt. this is the clipper system. that clipper system hits the coast and starts to intensify and things go downhill east of i-95. the potential is there for things to deteriorate. the morning commute light snow breaking out slow travel allow yourself extra time. midday it's a light snow flying for everybody across the delaware valley. the afternoon commute the potential is there for the heavy snow to develop east of i-95 as the secondary storm starts to develop and rapidly explode off the coast. here comes the clipper bang, once it hits the coast, new england looks like it will get so socked with one to two feet of snow. if it intensifies here we'll pick up more snow. if it is far north it will be

coming up. >> let's go outside to meteorologist chris sowers and see what he has to say about the next winter storm. >> reporter: accuweather has a lot to say about the next winter storm because there are two storms one could be a walloping. temperatures are above freezing, north and west of the city, you picked up 3 to 7 inches of snow. we were worried about widespread black ice developing. there may be slick spots out there. but the fact that area temperatures are above freezing that's a good sign. that should limit the amount of icing. millville, 34. wilmington, 36. trenton, 34 degrees, satellite and radar, you can think all the cloud cover that are you're seeing upstairs for the somewhat mild temperatures it is acting as an atmospheric blanket and keeping the temperatures milder than they should be. the idea for this afternoon a

gradual increase in clouds, they are lower and thicken in advance of the next storm system that's knocking on the door in the high plains. 41 degrees by 1:00 p.m. we're anticipating a high of 43 degrees. once the clipper hits the coast the clipper have provide us 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow morning. once the clipper hits the coast that's when it intensify as and we start to see the heavy snow banding. the how far does it travel, it will have great influence on the region. when i step back inside i'll show you a snowfall map for the clipper and for the major winter storm should it hit us dead on like some of the models are suggesting. that's coming up in ten minutes.

gunned down a man on a camden, new jersey street. the action cam was on the courtyard of branch village apartments. the victim was shot once in his chest. no word on a motive or suspect in this case. a man fighting for his life this morning after being stabbed in crescentville section. medics responded to a home on 5300 block of tabor avenue. inside police say they found a 40-year-old man stabbed in the chest. he was rushed to einstein in critical condition. police are questioning witnesses. a family is pleading for justice in a hit-and-run in port richmond that ended with a grandmother in a coma. "action news" reporter, kenneth moten has the story. >> reporter: this is 65-year-old carmen ramos a full of life type of woman. her family said she was almost taken away in an instant on this

port richmond street. we all heard the impact. i heard my sister screaming nobody realized that my mother was hit by a car. >> reporter: these week ago around 5:00 p.m. ramos was about to get into a car when a passing vehicle struck her. the impact took out the passenger side mirror of the dark colored ford explorer before the driver kept going. >> all they had to do was stop. >> it could have been their mother or daughter or anyone they love. >> please step forward and help my mom and help us understand what happened that night. >> reporter: ramos was spending time wrer -- with her family for the holidays. she is in a comma until this week. she came out of it and is responsive and breathing on her own. >> my mother would do anything

the national weather service said the tornado's winds hit up to 100 miles per hour. about a dozen people were camping in the area. all of them managed to escape injury. time to talk snow with meteorologist chris sowers. you say that so enthusiastically. >> we know you're enthuse --ed enthused. >> reporter: we have not had a good snowstorm. let's show you what's going on around the delaware valley. this is spring mountain where they picked up quite a bit of snow yesterday with the storm system that pushed through. we'll be adding to the nobs overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning -- the numbers overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning and tuesday. 36 degrees dewpoint, 28. winds out of the southwest at 16 miles per hour. pressure reading under 30. allentown, 35. trenton, 33. magic number, 32, this is a good sign, area wide we're above

freezing. that should limit the amount of black ice we'll see out there this morning. thanks to the cloud cover the clouds never broke apart during the overnight hours. that helped to keep the temperatures milder than they should be for this time of the year. we'll see a little bit of sunshine, but this little cloud deck out here, that's in advance of clipper system that's racing across the northern tier states this morning, that will get in here after midnight tonight. whatever sun we see it will be limited we'll start out with sun and clouds increase throughout the afternoon. increasing clouds throughout the day, it's a quiet and mild afternoon. south and east of philadelphia. some areas could get as warm as 44 45 degrees, a nice january day around the delaware valley. we get into the overnight hours and monday no morning. you'll see more snow than what this model is projecting. realize there are slick spots west of philadelphia.

8:00 a.m., you'll see an inch or two of snow on the ground west of the city. there will be slick spots in the city, as well. throughout the day we'll see light snow fall even though the molds is having a difficult time. monday night into tuesday here comes round number two oncement clipper system hits the coast it should intensify and throwing bands of moisture off the ocean and push it inland across the delaware valley with the cold air in place it will be in the form of heavy snow. some of the snowfall rates could be as high as 1 to 2 inches an hour. here's what you can expect overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, light snow breaks out across the area, every now and then it may be on the moderate side especially west of philadelphia. it will slow things down tomorrow morning. there will be snow-covered back roads, maybe an inch or two on the ground by the time the morning commute rolls around. slippery conditions and temperature in the 20s.

snow totals, a general 2 to 4 inches in the far western suburbs through philadelphia and the jersey shore. a little bit less the farther south you go, because afternoon temperatures down here tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 30s a little less the farther north you go in the northern portions of the lehigh valley and the poconos. the swath the heaviest will run across the heart of the delaware and lehigh valleys. monday night and tuesday, this is expected snowfall tonight into tomorrow. this is possible snowfall monday night into tuesday again there's a lot of uncertainty with the system, the question is, how far back do these bands travel westward? how quickly does the storm intensify. should it intensify as the other models are showing, looks like an danger 6 to 10 over philadelphia. a littlea little bit less the farther west you go you're not close enough to where the storm center is. ten inches plus north of
