abbey regular -- and regular rain fell across the delaware and lehigh valleys. we have a new storm we'll be dealing with the most snowfall of the season so far and we could be looking at a new storm after that. >> reporter: for philadelphia, that's not too hard we only have two inches. these are very difficult storms to forecast, because there are a lot of variables that come to play here. just the slightest shift west or east could mean the difference of getting walloped or nothing at all. we have a lot of differences in opinions if you will with the forecast models on what will happen over the next 48 hours. it's a very comfortable morning around the delaware valley. temperatures never made it below freezing that has limited the amount of black ice we saw on portions of the area. allentown, 38 degrees. we're getting close to the normal high for this time of the year. it's 9:00 a.m. wildwood, 39.

trenton, 37 degrees. the reason for the somewhat milder air thanks to the cloud cover acting as an atmospheric blanket it kept the temperatures milder than what we're used to seeing. later this afternoon temperatures will go above normal. we'll see an increase in clouds. we'll hover in the low 40s south and east. north and west you'll hit the low 40s since you started out milder. monday night into tuesday, we have the potential for a major winter storm but again, it will depend on a couple of things. one will be the track two how quickly it intensifies. a winter storm warning goats into effect in the lehigh valley and new england. i'll talk about that and the clipper system that will arrives overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, i'll have that and a bitter shot of arctic air in the seven-day forecast coming up in ten minutes.

collapsed. the top deck was being cleared by a snowplow when it gave way. the driver was shaken up, but not hurt. an suv that was parked in the garage was destroyed, but nobody was in it. the cause is under investigation. meantime, engineers have declared the entire parking garage unsafe. a philadelphia police officer is recovering in the hospital this morning after he was hit by an alleged drunk driver. it happened just before 2:00 a.m. near the intersection of 52nd and market in west philadelphia. "action news" learned that the officer's vehicle was hit from behind by a gray sedan. the officer was rushed to the hospital in stable condition. the driver of the other car was arrested and faces dui charges. an early morning crash in kingsessing section of philadelphia sent three people to the hospital. the action cam was at the scene 5700 block of kingsessing avenue. police say a car ran a red light and slammed into a an suv. that suv flipped over and

smashed into several parked cars. investigators say the people taken to the hospital do not have life-threatening injuries. so far there's no word on any charges. three families are homeless after a fire overnight. smoke poured from the roof of a building on the 5500 block of cedar avenue in cobbs creek section. the fire started at 2:00 a.m. in the apartments above the dry clearance. the apartment and the dry clearance sustained expensive he damage. the red cross is helping 15 people displaced by the fire. the cause is under investigation. a kensington family is hoping to track down the it hit-and-run driver who put their mother in a coma. carmen ramos was hit. the family heard the impact and saw the grandmother lying in the street.

snowy coating in pittsburgh. areas in and around pittsburgh ended up with # inches of snow. the snowstorm was blamed for dozens of accidents, but no major backups on the highways. >> in our area, two chance fs fs -- chances of snow, the first one not so bad but the second one a major event. >> reporter: the first one a nuisance event. the second one could be several inches of snow. that's the view of spring mountain, temperatures are easy to take for a day to do skiing. we're well up in there in the upper 30s. winds picking up a little bit out of the west/southwest it's producing windchills in the upper 20s and low 30s.

you have to bundle up. the satellite and radar showing cloud cover this morning part of the region why temperatures are milder than what they should be. it's acting as an atmospheric blanket. i'm questioning how much sun we'll see, here's the leading edge of the clipper system starting to show up across portions of ohio and the eastern portions of the ohio valley. this is a very quick-moving system. fairly unorganized it will dash across the appalachians and hit the coast by monday evening that's when things get interesting. first of all how quickly does it intensify and how close to the coast will it be when it intensifies. flavor of the day increases clouds lowering and thickening. we'll have milder temperatures highs in the 40s that will melt the snow that fell with yesterday's nor'easter. in the evening hours light snow

will start falling. lancaster, reading you'll start out light to moderate snow that will push east throughout the morning hours. we get into 9:30, i think you'll see more in the way of snow flying than what the particular model is showing. some of it could be on the moderate side. snowfall rates will be quarter to a half inch an hour. doesn't look like a huge event. temperatures drop in the 20s anything untreated there will be slick spots anything untreated parking lot sidewalks be careful. this is when the low hits the coast and the banged starts developing andy we could see waves of moisture push west toward the from west from the ocean with the coastline system. that's when things get tricky. this is the clipper system, looks like a good 2 to 4 inches for areas shaded in the pinkish

details on the snowstorm programs are underway at this hour as another storm heads our in our direction. penndot has an army of salt truck ready to go a day after we had to deal with snow in some parts of the area, ready or not it's time to get ready for round two. chris sowers joins us with a look at what to expect. the first one is a nuisance snow. >> reporter: if it wasn't for the fact it was arriving in time for the morning commute it's a system that will produce minor accumulations, it's the second one that could bring heavier snowfall amounts to parts of the area. i have to tell you it's hard to imagine talking about snow. it feels fantastic temperatures have warmed up into the upper 30s and low 40s. chester, 37. glassboro, 40.

once it hits the water and push the snow bands in west of the delaware valley. we'll talk about that in a second. i'll show you future tracker # the model is starting to have a better handle on what's going on. we're seeing this better now. by 1:00 a.m. light snows overspreading the area. temperature are dropping own though we're topping out in the low to mid 40s today. overnight tonight we'll be in the 20s. all areas dropping below freezing. during the morning commute you'll see light snow flying, you'll see slick snows out there, by afternoon the question becomes once the storm hits the coast how quickly does it intensify and start throwing the heavier snow bands westward toward the delaware valley. you'll see the model doing that at 6:00 a.m. tuesday morning. snow totals round number one

overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, snow on the moderate side. it will be slow morning commute. it will impact the visibilitiment slippery conditions, temperatures in the 20s. snow totals range 2 to 4 inches. lighter south of route 40 in south jersey, because temperatures will moderate into the mid to upper 30s and lesson the coast for the same exact reason. now, the second part of this system, this is some of the potential impact with this my confidence leveling is not that high with this one. the clipper system tonight into tomorrow, it's about 4, 5 with this. these are some of the things that are showing up on the forecast models. heavy snow east of the i-95 potential major delays, significant accumulations are possible. if everything pans out like some of the forecast models are suggesting, the ones more aggressive this being a heavy

snow event. this is what to expect with the second round. let's say 6 to 10 in through here ten inches plus across new jersey from atlantic city north through manhattan and new england. that's something we have to watch very, very closely over the next 24 to 48 hours. sun fading behind increasing clouds, milder. 44 degrees, cloudy overnight tonight, snow developing after midnight. 20 degrees north and west, 26 center city. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, 33 degrees snow at times for monday, again minor accumulations still though, it will be enough to create slick spots. tuesday morning watching the potential for major winter storm. morning snow for now windchills, the winds will pick up during the day tuesday windchills in the single digits and teens. wednesday, thursday, friday, you can see temperatures rebounding a little bit combination of sun and clouds.

combination of sun and clouds, milder temperatures should give you the opportunity to do what you have to do to prepare yourself to a major winter storm monday night into tuesday. a bunch of clouds over the area right now. there's the clipper system starting to move into the picture. clouds increase throughout the day, they will lower and thicken and eventually we'll see light snow breaking out after midnight tonight. today, sun to clouds, we're going with 43. the way the numbers are jumping it wouldn't surprise me if we reach 43 or 44. over the next 72 hours the next three days, this is what the forecast models are showing a good walloping in parts of area. the gfs has us close to a foot. nam an hour ago had us at 4 inches now it's over a foot. the snow totals are starting to increase.

the air beginning at 4:00 a.m. with updates on the accuweather forecast traffic conditions and any school closings. a snowplow driver escaped injury after a garage collapsed. the top deck was being cleared by the plow when it gave way. the driver was shaken up by the collapse, but wasn't hurt. the calls of the collapse is under investigation. engineers have declared the entire parking garage unsafe. a philadelphia police officer is recovering in the hospital this morning after he was hit by an alleged drunk driver. it happened just before 2:00 a.m. near the intersection of 52nd and market in west philadelphia. "action news" has learned that the officer's vehicle was hit from behind by a gray does sedan. the officer was rushed to the hospital in stable condition. the driver of the other car was arrested an now faces dui charges. an early-morning crash in

the kingsessing section of philadelphia sent three people to the hospital. the action cam was at the scene 5700 block of kingsessing avenue. police say a car ran a red light at 2:30 a.m. and slammed into an suv. it flipped over and smashed into several parked cars. the people taken to the hospital do not have life threaten injuries. there are no word on any charges. flee families are home -- three families are homeless after a fire overnight. smoke poured from the roof of the apartment building in cobbs creek section. the apartment and dry clearance sustained extensive damage, but nobody was hurt. the red controls is -- red cross is helping 15 people displaced by the fire. a man in pittsburgh has

already. it's 10:13 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and we're already into the 40s abdomin we're expecting snow and quite a bit of it for some of us. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing salute nothing out there, you have -- absolutely nothing out there, you have a nice, clean slate. philadelphia 40 degrees, we're at 43 43, places like millville. dewpoint, 30. winds out of west southwest at 15 miles per hour. wildwood, 43. allentown, the lehigh valley shooting up into the 40s already. trenton, 41. reading and lancaster the upper 30s. it's hard to believe that snow is heading this way. it's very, very mild out there. here comes the clouds and the snow showers are starting to develop across western portions of pennsylvania. once this clipper, once it hits the coast it will pull that cold air down, even though it's

milder out there now, we'll see the colder temperatures overnight tonight. this is the fast-moving clipper system it will push over the ohio and tennessee valleys and hits the coast and intensifies. once thing is for certain somebody is going to get blasted with this, it depends on how quickly the storm dwons. increasing clouds today mild day highs in the 40s get out there and enjoy it. use this as an opportunity to prepare yourself for what can be monday night into tuesday. light snow after midnight tonight into tomorrow morning. west to east across the area. that snow will make traveling conditions tricky from time to time. there will be snow-covered back roads. there will be slick spots out there. this model shows the heavier bands that will push westward

waves of moisture coming in over the ocean. these bands could produce snowfall rates at 1 to 2 inches an hour, we could see 35 to 40-mile an hour gusts on the coast as the storm intensifies. this is round number one overnight tonight after midnight into tomorrow morning snow will fly light to occasionally moderate. it will impact the morning commute because we'll have slippery back roads bridges and overpasses slick up first keep that in the back of your mind. temperatures down into the 20s, snow totals range anywhere from 2 to 4 inches. i have to be honest, i think most areas will see two three there could be an outlying that picks up four. i'm looking at 2 inches here. south, temperatures will be milder. highs top out in the mid to upper 30s in south jersey and delaware and the jersey shore. monday night into tuesday
