kicking off with what is shaping up to be two days of possibly difficult and dangerous conditions here in the delaware valley. round two is waiting in the wings and could bring our region to a stand still. >> sunday nights and the big story on "action news" is the snow that is headed our way. it will bring back-to-back days of accumulation. the second part of that one-two purpose punch could be a knock in and out parts of the u.s. already many schools are announcing khaichbs tomorrow. philadelphia public and archdiocesan schools announced early dismissals for district schools and early learning centers tomorrow because of round one. students will be let out at noon. we'll bring more school closings and dismissals as they come in 6abc starting at 4 a.m. tomorrow. >> live team coveragep impending storm systems. "action news" reporter skep finding out how road crews are prepping and dann cuellar is looking at how residents are getting ready. >> we begin with meteorologist melissa magee who is tracking systems and enjoining us live with the big board with details.

>> walter, sarah, we're tracking a system that is moving in. it will impact us over the next 24 to 48 hours. we do have the moisture already pressing in. on stormtracker 6 double scan radar thanks to the clipper system you notice light moisture in philadelphia. even snow showers north and west for allentown reading and lancaster and we'll widen out the picture. this is the clipper system that will work its way east ward. you can seat precipitation over the ohio valley. the other of low pressure over to the sea and kentucky will work the way east ward. we have light snow tomorrow to contend with. as we go top monday night this storm system will transfer energy to area of low pressure off the coast. and then it will work its way east ward and at that point we expect a storm system to intensify and deepen and the question is where does that intensification take place. in anticipation of moisture on the way tomorrow night to tuesday we have winter weather alerts already posted and winter storm warning for philadelphia and heart of our region and

majority of new jersey as well a watch from poconos down to lancaster and into most of delaware. but a blizzard warning only for ocean county and areas north and east. because this is where we expect brunt of this storm system to move on in. so over the next few days this is what we can expect and really the weather menu so to speak and appetizers tonight and monday we're tracking a light mix and changing to snow. nuisance in the morning and minor impacts throughout the day. entre is monday night to tuesday with moderate snow and going to turn blustery and you will need to expect delays at that time. we'll go over rush hour impacts. tomorrow during the morning just light snow showers around. minor impacts occurring, as we get to evening commute tomorrow still minor issues and minor accumulations to expect. as we get to monday night and more specifically tuesday morning moderate snowfall if not heavy in some locations on the way. coming up a closer look at future tracker 6. time out precipitation and go over possible snowfall totals

they're activated for this multi-day snow event. when conditions worsen drivers should stay off the road. >> i'll stay home. fy don't have to go out i'm not going out. >> in delaware, deldot spent all of today spreading mixture of salt and water. crews in newcastle county are on duty and working throughout the night. in pennsylvania, penndot drivers were lining major roadways and interchanges and drivers work twelve hour staggered shifts. with help of nearly 400 state crews and contractors work will get done. >> 42, 176 202. that will be main priority. secondary roads come second. however with amount of trucks and vehicles we'll have out there everything is pretty much for the most part going to have 100% coverage. >> morning and evening commutes will be impacted by storms and dot response. for those who say they have no choice and have to hit the roads they're making plans. >> i have to get to work by 10. i'll probably leave probably

ridge avenue and lincoln drive. his family said he suffered from bipolar adisorder and was not taking income medication. the father was three was a teacher bucks county institute of technology in warwick. friends, family and other volunteers once again served smyrna delaware area today looking for kiesha hamilton. hamilton and two children went missing on january 10. the children were found unharmed with their father cortez hamilton in indiana. kiesha was last seen january 9. he's charged with endangering welfare of child and one count of first degree assault. from our delaware newsroom tonight two young girls are lucky to be alive after they plunged through thin ice drouping this afternoon. it happened in a pond at the mir idian crossing narments bear. the girls were walking on the ice and that's when a neighborhood spotted them and tried calling them in. it was too late. >> she kept walking further and further out and then she just

shooting in camden county. it happened about 10:00 this morning on 300 block of brooklyn road new brooklyn road in winslot township and investigators are not saying what led to shooting but neighbors say the victim was fighting with a roommate and police were calledch the victim point aid gun at officers when they arrived and officials have not yet confirmed that information. several people have been taken into custody after a rowan university student was shot overnight. it happened at cross cam bus crossing apartments on mullica hill road glassboro 1 a.m. a freshman was shot in the leg by someone in a car that took off. no further information is released at this time. >> an audience in wynnewood heard grim realities of halocaust. a showing of the academy award whipping the lady in number six of the film tells story of pianoist alice hertzmer a halocaust survivors and how music helped save her life they

>> okay time for a check of the accuweather forecast with meteorologist melissa magee. possibility of snow total swings is dramatic in the next couple days. >> the track will be key and it depends where the storm system sets up. if it sets up to the west of our region will alter totals on higher scale and if to the east we will lower snowfall accumulations and possibility of that. we're starting to see a trend with it pushing to the east. we'll talk about the details stormtracker 6 live double scan radar showing i we have light snowfall moving across philadelphia and areas north and west. we'll go in tighter on stormtracker 6 live double scan street-level. you can see the snow showers that we are seeing right now is all thanks to the clipper stipulate system that will move northeast sdrechblingts route 1, i-95, close to philadelphia, north ago and west ward to 3458 verne and coatsville and 32 to the south. we have light snow showers overhead. then we track moisture that moves in as we go throughout the

day monday. that secondary wave of energy moves in monday night to tuesday. it's snowing north and wet of town. 0 poconos, 30 allentown below freezing in reading as well and 30 degrees. philadelphia 35. trenton 3 2. along the coast in wildwood 39, upper 30s as well in beach haven. here's satellite 6 and action radar this is the clipper system moving on through. you see moisture over ohio valley and area of low pressure over kentucky and tennessee this low works east ward rest of tonight and early tomorrow morning. light snowfall on the way. nuisance snowfall and minor impacts with the storm on the way during the day tomorrow. but as we get to tomorrow night we'll track air area of low pressure transferring energy to the coast. at that point the storm system intensifies and works way north and east ward. future tracker 6 has you covered. 7:30 in the morning lots of clouds and light snow showers around as well. give yourself extra time and go pretty slow with the snow

overhead. light activity overhead. at that time you'll start to find development of that area of low pressure just offshore. you notice some precipitation. mixed precip down across areas in lakehurst all the way down to wildwood. as i advance this you can see the heaviest of the snowfall starts to pick up at 10:00 tomorrow night. for philadelphia and areas to the east. and as we go throughout 5:00 in the morning on tuesday you can see we have light snowfall stretching back for areas in new jersey west ward to philadelphia and some spots reading and lancaster. you look at the deep shaivdz purple over long island that's where you find bankrupt of storm and where you have blizzard warnings in effect. our region for the majority in that winter storm warning. 1:00 in the afternoon on tuesday that storm system starts to paul way. possible snowfall. earlier we'll be on the air 6:00 in the evening we have sharp cutoff with the snowfall and gradient 4 to" reading and lancaster to chester county and even countys in delaware.

then we showed you 8 to 12 for snow allentown philadelphia, wilmington down to areas in millville and wildwood and bulls eye being where you have center of the storm system offshore 12 to 18" across areas in central new jersey. we had two new model runs that came in and models are starting to trend that the storm system pushing further east so the latest thought process is that yes, you're still going to have deepening with storm system and yes the storm will intensify and we'll get snowfall around. it may not be that significant snowfall across the region. so 12 to 18 new york city and 8 to 12 trenton north and east and philadelphia and bulk of region could see 4 to 8. the reason i show you extra map the confidence is below average. we're less than 24 hours out and the storm system may deepen but maybe too late with the track shifting further east into the east of us is where you will see heavy snowfall accumulations. so forecast showing you on
