6abc.com. >> right now the weather and traffic with dave murphy and karen rogers. good morning. >> all right, guys, the headline here is that the storm overnight has shifted to the east and it did not intensify as quickly as it could have moving up the coast and as a result a good portion of the region about the western half is really catching a break from this storm. the snow bands you see pushing into philadelphia they're encountering dry air a lot of dry air that developed to the west and while they're going the push down into chester county a little bit and in through philadelphia the snowfall amounts are not going to be nearly as bad as they could have been. it's not the case in ocean county and parts of burlington county where we've had heavier bands pushing in and in some cases we're already up to about six or 7-inches of snow and we're not done because the center of the storm system is still about here. we expect the snow to taper off late in the morning. there's the wide view on 3-d. boston portland connecticut getting hammered with blizzard conditions and there's still a blizzard warning in part of our area. it's been lifted up into long island and new york at this

we're getting various reports from the snowplow drivers out here this morning, they're saying four to five, seven to eight in some spots with the drifting. the issue as perhaps you can tell by my beautiful hair this morning is that the wind is still going. it's really stiff wind blowing the snow that is coming down around. i want you to take a look behind me right now. this is route 37. this is the main artery that goes in and out of the barrier island here and it is desolate. there is no one out there because of the travel ban that still exists right now. it went into effect 11 o'clock last night and so pretty much the only vehicles you're seeing on the road are snowplows and some other emergency vehicles. i haven't -- i don't think i've seen a single maybe one or two personal vehicles that are actually moving along right now. but a number of plow trains going by. some of them don't even have their plows down at this point. the road surface is slushy. you can seal it that the. it looks passable at this point and here comes another

>> chad pradelli keeping score. >> two to nothing sounds like a hockey score. >> an alert to the director, i don't have my theater up. the farther east you're going the worst it goes. we told you yesterday it was a tricky forecast and the storm might shift a little bit and it d it went to the east, bombed out a little bit later up the coast and as you take a look at storm tracker 6 live double scan right now that's what we've got. we have snow to the east of philadelphia. there's a couple bands coming in that are fairly significant, light decent snow but there's not much of it. as it tries to push to the west in places like chester county it has a hard time making it all the way in there so you'll get a little bit of snow in the western suburbs perhaps but it doesn't look like that much. the big are banding has been over by the ocean. atlantic city getting a little bit of this but in parts of burlington county and special ocean county that's real significant snow.
4:10 am
in brick township for example in ocean county about 1 o'clock in the morning we had a 2-inch an hour band that did come in for awhile. we're up to about six or 7-inches in parts of this county. does look like we'll probably top out at about maybe eight or nine over there but the closer you move towards the east the worse it's going to be and western suburbs looking pretty good. up in new york city not going to be as bad up there as we were originally thinking although they're still technically in blizzard warning up there. i'll just give you that wide view so you can be left with that impression. bands still trying to make their way down toward the west but kind of falling apart as they get much past philadelphia the way things are looking now. as we take a look outside, we have sky 6 and there you see penn's landing and the river ring, not a whole lot going on out there of course right now as everybody was in expecting a lot of snow and in philadelphia it's going to wind up not being all that bad. temperature 26 degrees. your winds are out of the north at 14. so, it is still cold and blustery as you head outside. winds dropping down out of the
