and unfortunately cold air swept in behind the big storm that is often the case we are sitting at 30 in philadelphia and 27 in allentown and 28 in trenton and 30 in wildwood. it's the wind that is the real problem, it's strong enough to give you windchills in the teens at noon. 17 in philadelphia and 18 in wilmington and 16 in allentown and a 19 degree windchill in wildwood. when you first stepped out at dawn, we had windchills in the single digits. this is an improvement, and still a day for a lot of layers. looks like the high today is just about -- i'm going to go 32 for the high today than is about 9 degrees below the average high of 41 and 16 is your low tonight and that is a full 10 degrees below the average of 26. the cold air doesn't go anywhere one thing i can say tonight is that the winds fall

off a bit. we start out tomorrow with sun and then cloudy skies roll in and all the eyes are on the western suburbs as a little ban of snow comes through. we'll talk about what to expect from this and what is ahead in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. nearly 100 people were forced into the freezing cold when a fire ripped through their montgomery county apartment building overnight. at least a dozen were rescued including a mother and her daughters who jumped to safety. john rawlins is live now in white marsh township. >> reporter: a few years ago this entire building was condemned by the township because of fire safety issues and people were moved out, as a result of that the owner installed a state of the art fire system and balconies that were credited with saving lives today. >> the piercing alarm of the

fire system forced them outside to their balconies. >> i saw the huge flames coming out from the b 2 apartment, b 2 a second floor corner apartment is thought to where the fire had begun. first responders and neighbors helped to get them off the balconies, people were handing people down from the second floor i don't know for what reason smoke up there or whatever. >> the cold conditions made it difficult for firefighters and displaced residents, many residents fled without warm clothing and they were able to gather in a building that was being renovated. part of the third floor apartment collapsed into b 2 and the fire started in a bedroom of b 2. >> two people were in the

bedroom it was occupied. two elderly people in the bedroom and next door was a younger couple and they were alerted by the screaming and the words fire. >> reporter: now the fire marshall says it could take time to determine what was the cause of fire, three of the five people were taken to the hospital, two with smoke inhalation and one with minor burns and all three are treated and released as for the remaining residents here, when they will be able to get back in is not clear yet. live in white marsh john rawlins, channel 6 "action news." >> investigators are trying to determine what caused bricks to crash into a center city clothing store. the bricks fell through the roof of the lululemon apparel store on walnut street leaving a 20 foot hole in the ceiling, they determined that the bricks came from an elevator shaft from a

neighboring building. license and inspections are interests viewing owners from both buildings. two montgomery county brothers are accused of stealing $100,000 worth of sewer grates faced a judge today. they waived their preliminary hearing on theft charges and police say they lifted hundreds of iron storm grates from philadelphia abington and plymouth meeting and several other townships they remain behind bars. bail is set at $300,000. prosecutors will seek the death penalty for the death of eric frein frein's defense attorneys declined to comment on the death and said his client plans to plead not guilty. >> there is word of a possible

for the person that is firing bullets into cincinnati's tallest building windows have been shortered. after nine shootings in four days. >> people that sit near windows were told to move to different offices, they believe that one person or group is targeting the building but they don't have a motive or suspects. a western pennsylvanian woman managed to steal a police car while she was handcuffed. the video shows roxanne rhymer being pulled over and she jumped into the cruiser and managed to turn the siren and steered with her knees the entire way and then ran off still in handcuffs. nobody was hurt in her daring escape and is due in court for
