6:01 pm
tomorrow morning for wind gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour and while these winds are gusting, they're pulling down very cold air. so, future tracker showing on this friday night you're heading out at 9 o'clock we're looking at wind chills generally in the single digits and they will be dropping below zero tomorrow morning. so, we have some arctic air that's moving in for saturday and then on sunday, i'm tracking this, this late weekend winter storm that low pressure right now is over arizona and the track has shifted a little bit farther to the north. so that will be rolling right south of philadelphia, so what this means is that it won't be pure snow for all parts of our viewing area. there will be some mixing issues and i'll talking about the totals and the timing on the full accuweather forecast. >> thank you cecilyly. the morning team will get a early start on monday. for the latest forecasts and travel conditions, please join matt o'donnell, tamala edwards, dave murphy and karen

6:22 pm
cecily tynan. lots to talk about. >> we're starting with snow squalls. then we have bitter cold and then we have a winter storm moving in on sunday. busy weekends weather-wise. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing the snow squalls i've been tracking really all afternoon and evening are really beginning to diminish in intensity but they've moved into atlantic county, hammonton right now, crossing route 33, 22. that continues to race towards the south and the east and this is generally a light snow squall. we do have a little bit more of an intense snow squall right near norristown right now, near jenkintown, willow grove but these should all be out of here by about 7:30 or so and then skies will be clearing. the temperatures will really be dropping. i've gotten a lot of great pictures though on my facebook page and twitter account sent from "action news" viewers and joan from downingtown posted this photo to my facebook page and she said that it looked like a snow globe this afternoon when the snow squall was moving in. pretty intense. you go from sunshine one
6:23 pm
minute to a snow squall covering the ground about five minutes later and this is all because of the cold air that's rushing in. philadelphia 33 degrees right now. we reached a high of 42 degrees around lunchtime. pretty nice earlier today. millville 32. trenton 31. allentown 27. reading 28 and wilmington currently 31 degrees. and then you factor in the winds blowing out of the northwest. the current wind chill 21 degrees in philadelphia, 12 in allentown, 15 in reading. nine in lancaster and 20 in millville. if you think this is cold, look at the wind chills tomorrow morning. you step outside tomorrow morning, south jersey and delaware, the wind chills zero to 5 degrees below zero. the i-95 corridor including philadelphia and trenton and wilmington, we're looking at wind chills five to 10 degrees below zero and the lehigh valley northern berks coin through the poconos wind chills early tomorrow morning dropping to 10 to 20 degrees below zero. so, if you're heading up to the poconos to ski pile on

the layers and take a lot of breaks in the lodge because this is dangerous cold. satellite6 along with action radar showing that the clouds are really beginning to thin out and we'll be mostly clear in the overnight hours as the snow squalls are weakening but at the same time low pressure that's over arizona is beginning to strengthen. it's just starting to get the moisture. it will get an injection of energy through northern branch feature and this system will be moving through and enter our region on sunday night. so, this is the time line. it will begin as light snow for most of our viewing area between 4 o'clock sunday afternoon and 8 o'clock sunday night. so, this will be arriving during the super bowl. looks light but if you're driving home from any parties there could be an inch or two of snow on the ground so do be careful. the heaviest part of the storm system will occur when most of us are sleeping, between 1 o'clock in the morning and 9 o'clock on monday morning. this is also when we'll begin to see some moisture in the form of rain mixing in from
6:25 pm
the south to the north and getting into philadelphia by the middle of the morning on monday. this storm system will be moving out between noon and 4 o'clock and it will be ending as snow showers. so, this is what to expect as far as precipitation types. north of the pennsylvania turnpike you likely will see no mixing. this is going to be an all snow event. i do think snow will be mixing in with sleet perhaps even rain around philadelphia, lakehurst, wilmington and north of atlantic city and extreme south jersey and delaware you'll probably see some snowflakes at the beginning and at the end but mainly this will be a rain event. so, this is an early prediction as far as snowfall amounts. if the track changes these could change, but right now we're looking at less than an inch of accumulation in cape may, in kent county. 1 to 3 inches south of wilmington through atlantic city. the immediate philadelphia area 3 to 6 inches and then the northern suburbs north of the pennsylvania turnpike, this could be a major snow, 6 to 12-inches if this track
6:26 pm
holds as i expect it right now. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast tomorrow 28 degrees, wind chills in the low teens. on sunday, that light snow arriving in the evening 36 degrees. that storm system reaches its full intensity early on monday, then it moves out monday afternoon 31. we drop it to 22 degrees on tuesday. bump it up to 37 degrees on wednesday. snow showers thursday and friday very cold, 27 degrees. that storm system is about 2,000 miles away so again things could change. i'll have an update on "action news" at 11:00. >> thank you cecily. abc's world news tonight with david muir is next on channel 6.
