good morning, it is 5:30, saturday january 312, deep freeze the windchill makes it feel like it's below zero as we track another winter storm. nearly a dozen train cars jump the tracks in south philadelphia. battling the flames and the bitter cold. firefighters in philadelphia brave the elements as they douse a house fire overnight. first, though, let's check in

with meteorologist chris sowers. it's been cold, but it's not been cold like this. >> reporter: i was going to say skip the coffee and step outside, it will wake you up real quick. not only do we have the cold temperatures, but we have the blustery winds that puts the windchills in single digits in several locations. that's atlantic city. 15 in philadelphia. reading, 11 degrees, trenton 13. dover, 17 and wilmington, 15 degrees, this is what happens when you factor in the winds. feels like 2 below. same number for wilmington and trenton. allentown, 5 below. 6 below in the poconos. a windchill advisory remains in effect until 7:00 a.m. this morning. this is going to be a nice, quiet day around the delaware valley. area of high pressure zipping

derailed in south philadelphia. the derailment happened on scout 11th street. philadelphia firefighters and haz/mat swarmed the area by lincoln field and navy yard, 11 cars went off the tracks. after they found no ruptured cars crews turned the derailment over to csx. no word on what caused the detailment. the action cam was on the scene after a fire broke out in germantown after midnight. fire crews were met with fire shooting from the upper floors of this vacant home in the upper block of see more street. high winds and cold temperatures caused problems for crews. firefighters had to spread salt to keep anyone from falling. nobody was hurt, but an adjoining home was damaged in the fire. no word on what sparked the

blaze. a police chase came to a violent end in wilmington, delaware. a mercedes suv crashed into a parked car while trying to run from police. it landed on its side on monroe street. the driver was trapped before being rushed to christiana hospital. rob mccord admitted to breaking the law while trying to raise campaign money for his gubernatorial campaign. this comes less than 24 hours after he was placed under investigation. dann cuellar has details. >> the mistake and fault her is mine and mine alone i owe an apology for the people of pennsylvania. >> reporter: it began to unravel for rob mccord when the feds got word of him making veiled threats for campaign donations.

he admitted that he crossed the line when he tried to strong arm two potential political contributors hoping to do business with the commonwealth by making a veiled threat. >> i said the potential contributor should not risk making an enemy of the state treasurer. clearly that was wrong. >> reporter: mccolder made an unsuccessful bid for democratic nomination for governor. his lawyers said during that failed campaign he overstepped the line of legitimate fundraising. >> i know my improper effort to raise campaign contributions will ever be a stain on my record. again, i deeply regret my actions and apologize for any harm or embarrassment i caused to anyone. >> reporter: mccord was going to resign on february 12 thinking it would be a while before the public learned about the investigation.

>> now i'm concerned that my staying in office even for a day, might interfere with the office of the treasury, i'm now resigning immediately. >> tom wolf responded to the admission and said this is a sad day for the commonwealth and rob mccord's family. this type of erosion leads to the public's trust and it is unacceptable. >> there will be no charges found against a man police arrested, police say the suspect tried to steal the car from a homeland security agent. that agent fired a single shot from his government issued gun. the suspect was arrested, but authorities say his action didn't warrant charges. immigration and custom

enforcement is handling the investigation into the actions. a 5 month long investigation ended with an arrest of a doctor and his receptionist in delaware county. 78-year-old margaret mcgowen and martin freedman are accused of writing prescriptions from their office. an under cover officer walked into the office without an appointment and asked for pain killers. >> there was no examination or confess or history taken of him they handed him a prescription because he showed up at the office and requested one. >> reporter: investigators say dr. freedman was rarely at the office and mcgowen wrote the prescriptions in his name and knew what she was doing was

illegal. after he returned for more pain killers. she told him you're offending a three day -- you're within a three day limit. >> don't take your prescription to a major chain. >> reporter: mcgowen had to be hospitalized. doctor friedman would leave prescriptions taped to the door. the two were not profiting from the alleged crimes, but fueling addictions. he seemed to be in denial of any wrong doing, i believe that the receptionist recognized the fact that she should not have been doing what she was doing. >> reporter: they face time behind bars, but given their age and lack of criminal history they will likely get a far lessor sentence. chad perdelli channel 6 "action

philadelphia than snow. i'll show you on future tracker today is a quiet day. today we start with a sunshine otherwise it's increegs clouds. he -- increasing clouds. look at the rain/snow line northwest of philadelphia. it's steady to moderate snow for the far western suburbs and the lehigh valley and the poconos. there's the rain/snow line, running parallel to the pennsylvania turnpike north of the atlantic city expressway. as you run that along the rain/snow line the latest trending continues to push it north in the far nerch suburbs and the -- northwestern suburbs and the lehigh valley. 8:00 a.m. sunday evening light snow-mix arriving. overnight heavy rain arrives heavy snow north and west, and rain south and east. most of of the models have less
