sunday night, parked cars fire crews battling a blaze at an apartment complex in south jersey. >> we are following breaking news there has been an arrest in the murder of a social worker shot to death last month at a bus stop in north philadelphia, and we will have a life report in a few minutes. but the big story on "action news" tonight is a forecast that could add up to big trouble for some drivers tonight into tomorrow morning. >> we are looking lnve now sky six in hd at ben franklin bridge tonight, all is quiet out there but come tomorrow morning a messy mix of snow, rain and ice could create some difficulty conditions, on the roads in some parts of the area. we have live team coverage to help you get prepared this evening. "action news" reporter, annie mccormack is live with a look the at how road crews are ready. >> meteorologist adam joseph and melissa magee are tracking the system. we will begin with melissa. what are we looking at. >> we are track ago this snow and mixed precipitation across the midwest eastward into the east coast. this is a storm system on the way. storm tracker six live double scan radar showing light snow

fall across central pennsylvania and steady know picking up across western pennsylvania and just to the north of i80 but we will widen out picture here and area of low pressure is over southern illinois and indiana. to the north we have the the snow. if you follow that up, and over, we have a snow line breaking out along i80 just to the north of the pennsylvania turnpike. so that will be where you will find a significant snowfall. to the south of that line however, all of that moisture coming from the south and that is where that warmer ale will mix in with the system. that area of low system will track to the areas north of philadelphia, and because of that winter storm warning that has been posted for poconos, down to easton, allentown, quake are town and pottstown as we are expecting some major impact later on tonight, rate through tomorrow afternoon. but there is a winter weather advisory, for philadelphia and areas to the south and east as we are expecting some minor impacts later on tonight right through 7:00 a.m. on monday once the storm system getting. we will talk about what we can

expect. that precipitation we are tracking tonight will turn steady between 8:00 and 11:00. heavier will fall as we get in the overnight hours and there is concern in the lehigh valley for some icing, not the the best time, during the overnight hours and just in time for that rush from 3:00 to 8:00 in the morning. this storm system will end with a west/east direction from 11:00a in m to 2:00 in the afternoon. we will bring in meteorologist adam joseph because it is all about the temperatures and presip type that will vary depending on the location. >> it is location location, location, yet again. it is quiet, dry out here and it is not all that cold. lets look at the temperatures around the region right now in philadelphia 38 degrees. all areas right now, generally south of philadelphia, above freezing point flirting with freezing to the north and west, and you can see those wind coming out of the southerly direction ahead of the system. temperatures will drop a little bit tonight but overall they will be rising and this is why we are going to see majority of the area, in the rain category by tomorrow

morning. so if you are a super bowl travel this evening between 10:00 p.m. and midnight steady snow in the far northwestern suburbs. in the philadelphia metro area snow mixing with sleet and southern new jersey, in delaware it will already been rain by 10:00 o'clock tonight ape through that midnight hour. how much snow to expect? it is mainly rain from philadelphia, all points to the south with no snow accumulation. just to the north of philadelphia, chester county, montgomery county southern parts of the berks county one to 3 inches before it wash's way with heavy rainfall and up toward lehigh valley we are expecting three to 6 inches of snow and sleet before even there it changes to rain. here are the times of the change to rain philadelphia metro area between midnight and 2:00 a.m. pennsylvania turnpike between two and 4:00 a.m. and lehigh valley between 5:00 and 8:00 o'clock in the morning. by tomorrow morning's rush hour many areas just wet roads, with some ponding but it is lehigh valley we have to watch out for sarah with that icing lingering into that morning rush. >> adam, thank you.

"action news" reporter annie mccormack is live with that part of the story, annie. >> reporter: and sarah over past five minutes we started to see some really light flurries, at this point , penndot crews don't have a lot to do but we're told they will be driving around all night overnight looking for that precipitation so that they can treat roadways as soon as they can. salt trucks, loaded up penndot's norristown salt yard sunday afternoon when penndot and additional contractors more than 300 trucks including salt, plow and anti icing trucks will be on district six's highways and byways covering five counties. >> we were able to brine major highways and get that taken care of as our first line of defense. as forecast started to change we were able to make adaptions, we were able to bring in crews this afternoon. >> reporter: crews got a head

charged this afternoon in the killing of the 56 year-old kim jones. motive, they say he was trying to keep her quiet to cover up an alleged crime. it was a major break in the mysterious bus stop murder that had homicide detectives back at 12th and jefferson streets, in north philadelphia, this morning. it has been three weeks since someone gunned down the program director for social service non-profit, near her home. but today police made an arrest. >> i want to know who would do something like that, so i really have been waiting, they have been talking about it, if they have ever get the person that did it. >> reporter: the it turns out someone jones knew her co-worker, 36 year-old randolph sanders. a man action muse spoke with during the initial coverage of the jones murder. >> just stun. the just stunned. just stunned. >> reporter: they are disturbing word that the murder accusations are true. victim is returning program for turning points for children was the with the contract of the cities department of human services.

the sources say jones a accused sanders of miss managing fund and possibly stealing thousands of dollars from the non-profit. on the morning of january 13th sources say jones was standing at her septa bus stop, on her way to dhs to turn her co-worker in when sanders dressed in the disguise, quietly walk up from behind, and shot the woman in the back of the head. sanders told "action news" weeks ago that he and the victim who recently got married were close. >> i was fortunate enough to be invited to her wedding when she was married. she was incredibly happy. this is just disturbing. >> reporter: today detectives were back on the scene with the metal detector looking for evidence but sources say surveillance video of the shoot are led them to a vehicle which led them to the killer of a woman this neighbor thought of as a daughter. >> i guess he had no idea that this guy or whoever it was would come up and do something like that. she did the right thing. you are doing something wrong you turn him in. >> reporter: are sources is a

i police searched sanders northeast philadelphia home in the 9100 block of ryerson road and found three guns. that theft of fund from the non-profit is still under investigation, walter. reporting live outside philadelphia police headquarters, this evening kenneth moton for channel six "action news". >> kenneth, thank you. police have made an arrest in the murder of a woman and father yesterday. dennis, is accused of killing his girl friend nicole wilson and her father, five two-year old brian wilson, inside their home on washington street. investigators say both victims were bludgeon. a family member discover the bloody crime scene yesterday morning. he had been living in the home with the family. he was treated for several lacerations that are believed to have been self inflict. he is charged with two counts of murder. much more to come tonight on "action news", flames were not the only thing fire fighters had to battle to day on the scene of the blaze in south jersey. how several parked cars made the job even tougher. but first whitney houston's daughter remains

papa john's. bobby brownies asking for privacy for his family on behalf of his daughter who was found face down in a bathtub yesterday. twenty-one ye -old bobby cristina brown, brown's daughter with whitney houston is reportedly in a medically induced comb a brown was unresponsive when she was found in her town hose. police found no indication alcohol or drugs were involved. whitney houston accidentally drowned in a bathtub, three years ago this month. five people were injured in an apartment complex and in new jersey after a fast moving fire broke out. the fire broke out just before 1:30 this afternoon at chestnut lane apartments.

officials say five people were trapped, on the second floor. fire fighters were able to get them out and rushed to local hospitals. we are told their injuries are not considered to be life threatening. fire officials say progress was hampered because nearby hydrants were blocked by parked cars. >> this whole area is a fire lane and there is a fire marshalls office always here doing fire violations. these people here just don't care. >> officials say the fire moved quickly across the building's attic. eight apartment were destroyed, in word on the reason. speed appears to be factor in the deadly crash in the roosevelt boulevard earl they're morning. police on patrol came across the crash in the northbound lanes near adams avenue shortly before 5:00 a.m. they say female driver lost control, hit a tree and was eject from the vehicle. victim was pronounced dead at the scene but has in the been identified. search in port richmond new has a deeply personal remembrance of the late pope john paul the second relic of his blood.

the chicago area. up to 14 inches of snow is due to fall by tonight. more than a thousand flights have have been canceled at o'hare and midway airports. detroit could see its biggest snowfall in american a decade. in nebraska, long stretches of interstate 80 near lincoln were closed to day because of crashes like this one. state troopers say high wind, made it tough for drivers to control big rigs and near white out conditions kept drivers from seeing the highway. more snow and high wind are expected tonight. meteorologist melissa magee joins us. is it the fair to say delaware valley will be mostly rain in the end and lehigh valley mostly snow. >> it will be a tail of two storms depending on your location. if you are in the city, areas south overnight and early tomorrow morning will be rain but at the on set for everyone it starts out as some snow wintry precipitation and then we will get change over overnight into monday. we will fine tune details. storm tracker six live double scan radar showing we have some light precipitation upper areas north and west of

philadelphia we will go in tighter and we are finding some light snow, some flurries across the region. they are hit or miss for the most part. just to the south of penn there along route 333 long easton along route 611 as well to the south and east of allentown. if you are west of allentown on i78 from hamburg in pottsville and lebanon we are tracking some light snow. the steady snow will move in later on tonight and continues at least until midnight and then we will have a change over depending on your location. temperatures outside this evening is 38 in philadelphia. twenty-six, up in the poconos. thirty-four in allentown. 1 degree above freezing in reading at 33. wildwood 36 degrees. beach haven also in the upper 30's. the here's satellite six with action radar. this is the storm system we are tracking. that area of low pressure bordering illinois indiana at this hour and to the north of that we have snow where chicago currently under blizzard warnings. this location is already seeing more a foot of snow since north of that area of low pressure we have that snow

and to the south we have got a lot of rainfall. that is why it depend on your location, that is why the the kind of precipitation you will see. this storm system for our region will be tracking to the north of us. as this storm system tracks to the north and pull s up those southerly wind as well, which means we will have a lot of miss ago cross the the area especially south of where this area of low pressure sets up. future tracker six is showing close to midnight for philadelphia you are starting to see a change over from snow to rain. if you are north and west of the city which is where we have winter storm warnings in effect we have got snow from the poconos down to allentown reading, lancaster. to the south of philadelphia, thinks mainly rain event for areas in south jersey and delaware. watch how quickly we will get that change over to rain at 3:00 in the morning in the overnight hours. rain for philadelphia, areas to the south and east and immediate northwestern suburbs as well allentown there is a concern for some mix ago this will take place before we get that gradual change over to rain. 8:00 in the morning on monday for poconos we have a bit of

the mix starting to occur and allentown some rain showers, starting to develop, as more warmer air gets pulled into this system. 3:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon storm system will taper off from the west/east direction. looking for snowfall accumulation you are going to find it tonight before you get that change over to not a mixed precipitation and all liquid as well. if you are philadelphia and areas to the south it is mainly rain. i think in the city we will fine close to an inch before you get that change over to rain. we will go in tighter, north of philadelphia for rain, pottstown, doylestown, trenton and mount holly, one to 3 inches of snowfall. three to six for easton, allentown, quakertown, kutztown, west ward into reading. you have to travel north of the poconos to find six plus inches of snow. is there a concern with icing, overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning mainly for poconos down to the lehigh valley as this location could fine close to a quarter inch of ice accumulation before you get a change over to liquid precipitation. accu weather forecast showing you on monday it will be a
