good friday morning to you all. i'm t.j. holmes. >> i'm sara haines. we begin this friday the 13th with merciless winter weather taking shape on two months. >> first windchills in the danger zone this morning. below zero for most of the northeast. that cold dipping into the south. temperatures in the 30s in the florida panhandle this morning. then another snowstorm waiting in the wings likely bringing blizzard conditions to new england once again we begin with abc's bazi kanani. >> reporter: still digging out in cities across the northeast and exhausting winter season. >> this is my fourth double shift in a row. >> reporter: so much snow in hard-hit massachusetts, the national guard is helping out. boston running out of places to put it all. the mounting snow piles a hazard for drivers and pedestrians. >> it's hard. it's like an obstacle organization over here. you have to cross further into the street so that maybes it difficult. >> reporter: the record-breaking

snowfall too much for many roofs. in new hampshire, two men were trying to sweep snow off this gas station canopy when it crashed down on to an suv. incredibly no one injured. firefighters trying to save lives by digging out fire hydrants. >> seconds do count in a house fire or any kind of fire. >> reporter: new warnings about the frigid temperatures moving into 14 states as far south as georgia. frostbite could set in in just minutes on exposed skin. moving in behind all that cold air, a valentine's day storm, blizzard watches again this weekend in winter weary new england. >> i'm nervous. we have damage here and the next storm will be worse. >> reporter: rushing to shore up battered beaches along the massachusetts coast where the holiday could be met with hurricane-force winds. bazi kanani abc news washington. the clipper storm is already bringing snow and high winds to the upper midwest.

>> accuweather's justin povick joins us with the forecast. good morning, justin. >> sara t.j. thanks and good morning to you. we are off to a very very cold start throughout the northeast and into new england. the good news we don't have any heavy snow but then again there's wind out there so that makes it feel colder and i think there will be a few additional travel delays southbound to jfk and laguardia. high pressure around for now so at least for the afternoon we'll squeeze out some sunshine. big concern later on this weekend. saturday night into early sunday looks like the worst of the worst here from boston to portland, 6 to 12 inches of snow around boston. perhaps over a foot in portland then a ton of arctic cold to follow all weekend long. sara and t.j. back to you. >> all right, justin thank you very much. breaking overnight the field of journalism suffered another seismic shock. david carr has died leaving many readers in disbelief.

time finding peace in parliament. these two lawmakers battling it out over a local land issue. they went toe-to-toe or maybe fist to fist until a soldier intervened. one hand ended up with a broken nose another a busted lip. president obama is in san francisco. he's in the bay area. the president plans to sign an executive order encouraging private firms to share cybersecurity threats with the government. meanwhile, the growing ethics scandal surround oregon's governor has triggered new calls from fellow democrats for him to step down. governor john kitzhaber and his fiancee under criminal investigation accused of influence peddling. new reports emerged saying the governor's office asked state officials to destroy all of his e-mails and other personal records from state servers. military officials say 22 marines have been exposed to a noxious gas at their base in southern california. the marines were on a training

exercise inside an assault vehicle that carries troops from ship to shore. that's when an equipment malfunction caused the release of a fire retardant gas. three of them are still hospitalized this morning. the man on trial for killing american snierper author chris kyle and a friend said he had taken a couple souls and had more to take. that testimony from a police officer. also in court video of officers trying to coax the accused eddie routh out after i pickup after the shootings. he talks about voodoo en the apocalypse and whether he is going insane. new details this morning about whitney houston's daughter just days before she was found unresponsive in her bathtub. bobbi kristina brown was involved in a car accident on january 27th. police near atlanta say the 21-year-old lost control of her jeep crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another car sending the other driver to the hospital. a federal judge ordered officials in mobile county

west coast seaports are all but shut down part of a labor dispute between the shipping companies and longshoreman's union. no ships unloaded yesterday. monday is presidents' day. all asia trade goes through these ports and dozens of ships are waiting anchored offshore.

the auto industry set a record last year but necessarily a good one. nearly 64 million vehicles were recalled. more than double the previous record set a decade ago. in fact more cars were recalled in 2014 than the previous three years combined. the industry says the huge number of recalls show that the automakers are taking safety seriously. right now american express is the only credit card accepted at costco but that's going to change next year. costco is not renewing the exclusive agreement which accounts for a huge chunk of american express credit card business. it's not known whether costco will strike a deal with another company or accept different cards like most. further consolidation for online travel booking. expedia is buying orbitz for $1.3 billion after acquiring travelocity last month. the other major player is the much larger priceline group. but both expedia and priceline are being challenged by new competitors including google as well as the airlines and hotels

offering a $25,000 reward for that person's identity. his wife seemed nothing seemed unusual the last time she had contact with her husband. and the man seen in this surveillance video is now under arrest for stealing luggage at l.a.x. airport out there, the 23-year-old ryan green there has admitted to police he took passengers' luggage off airport carousels and after taking the bags he went through them in a men's restroom. green now charged with five felony counts. >> never check. bill cosby is facing two more accusers adding to dozens of others who have come forward. the women making the latest claims are former models and said bill cosby drugged them and sexually assaulting them in hotel rooms when they were in their early 20s. his attorneys have not responded to these latest charges. a texas school bus driver is under investigation for stopping her bus full of students and walking off the job. newly released surveillance video shows her on the phone stepping off the bus, you see it
