>> good morning, it is 5:30, february 134. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." dangerous cold is gripping the delaware and lehigh valleys. we have the possibility of snow. a man is killed while trying to keep warm with a kerosene heater in southwest philadelphia. a chester county college student allegedly killed by her boyfriend at school will be laid to rest today.

those stories but first a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. it just hits you it just hurts. >> reporter: it does, i have so many advisories, i don't know where to begin. live we go looking at the center city skyline. this is a day that will feature everything, a lot of wind, cold temperatures and blustery start to the weekend. right now we have clouds rolling in and temperatures are bitterly cold. it's not as harsh as yesterday. the winds picked up overnight and died back down and will pick up this afternoon. trenton, 16. the poconos 11. the windchills numbers feeling like the upper teens. wilmington, feels like 13. 17 in millville and in trenton and ellenen town. what we're watching is another polar front this slicing through the keystone state this morning.

it doesn't look too terribly impressive this morning but oncement sun comes up you'll see snow squalls marching east into the disfl later this afternoon and into the event. that's where things could get interesting especially considering today a is valentine's day maybe you have plans or heading to catch a moving. that's when the snow squall begins. quick-changing visibility. slippery road conditions and wind as the front marchs through. as a matter of factment high wind warning goes into effect theming and tomorrow with gusts as high as 60 miles per hour. that's tropical storm force. i'll have more on what to expect and how much snow in your neighborhood in the seven-day forecast in just a bit. >> the temperatures are making it tough to stay warm. the action cam was out at broad and you will walnut in center city.

people are bundle up against the cold, dann cuellar has more on how people are trying to copy with the cold. and penndot preparation in advance. snow squalls. >> reporter: you could say the bitterly forecast is made for zombies. cast members from terror behind the walls were hosting a zombie skate at dilworth park. but there were few others braving temperatures. it's the whiteout snow squalls that have penndot concerned. >> there's periods of time when a squall comes through the region and reduces visibility and drops heavier snow. there's a point where it's too cold for salt to work very well. >> once you get temperatures down to the 20-degree range and into the teens salt normal application of salt does not

code blue is across the region because of the dangerous bitter cold, if you see a home ltz person call 215 232-1984. just because animals are covered in fur doesn't mean they are not in danger from the cold. if you see an animal chained call (267)385-3000. the pet's owner will be fined. southwest officials felt the bitter cold putting out a blaze of a house fire. the house had no heat and the man staying there was using that heater to keep warm. >> what we want to do, stress if you use kerosene heaters fill them outside and remember space

heaters are safe. >> they are not releasing the name or age of the victim. this is the 5 city's 5th fire fatality this year. police are looking for a man who held up a store in the 2100 block of cottman avenue. it's not clear if the robber had the weapon, but he did manage to make off with $1,400. family friends and classmates will gather for a final farewell to a slain millers university student. funeral services will be held for carlie hall in kennett square. the freshman student was found sunday inside her dorm. her boyfriend is charged with strangling and beating her.

will orr was scientisted -- sentenced yesterday, it was called a main line takeover project. the ring's leaders each received jail time. well in the midst of the nationwide measles outbreak senator bob casey is urging pennsylvanians to give vaccinations a shot. casey talked about the importance of immunizations. pennsylvania has the second lowest vaccination rate in the country. only # 6% of kids entering kindergarten had the measles shot compared 95% nationally. >> we have an obligation to do

snow. officials are having trouble where to put all the snow. the city of gloucester massachusetts has received permission to put snow in the ocean, it has not done that quite adequate yet. >> reporter: i'm so thankful i don't live in boston. >> reporter: they are the third snowiest city in the entire country right now. boston is supposed to be snowy but not like that. let's go live on sky 6. they had 90-inch of snow for the season. only buffalo and erie has seen more across the united states. it's been an impressive winter for us, it's been cold, but we haven't seen the snow. looking at the philadelphia international airport, we have cloudy skies and fairly tranquil conditions but boy is that going to change over the next couple of hours. we'll take it for now. we have flurries showing up in western berks and lehigh county. reading, 12 degrees, allentown

way. winter weather advisory goes into effect for the evening hours, for the snow squalls its for the entire delaware valley. we'll see an accumulation west of the pennsylvania turnpike, but most areas will see a one to three inches. these are snow showers, they are not the squalls they will arrive 2:00 3:00 p.m., we also to east. here comes the squalls marching into the western suburbs into the city by 6:00 p.m. and march east and off the coast by 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. tomorrow morning we'll see bright sunshine with blustery conditions and gusts as high as 50 to 60 miles per hour. the snow squalls moving in between the hours of 4 and 10. whiteout conditions, strong gusty winds behind the front. it will make for a dangerous traveling conditions. snowfall totals looking at a general one to three inches in the immediate philadelphia area, the lehigh valley 2 to 3 inches.
