seaville 20. ewing 18 degrees. a cold morning around delaware valley. the winds are not too much of a factor yet. out of the south the winds will shift later this afternoon. they will roar well see gusts as high as 65 miles per hour tomorrow morning. powerful wind on the way. wind gusts developing later this evening. probably 5 or of p.m. overnight tonight they approach 60 miles per hour and that will create all kinds of problem expect to see trees, smaller tree limbs down, power out annuals are likely. with your cell phone or electronic device make sure it's fully charged today, if you lose power it could be sometime before it restored. that's the issue overnight tonight and into tomorrow. what we're dealing is the snow squalls in advance of the arctic front. these are the squalls that will punchment city around 6:00 p.m. they will be very quick hitting a snow squall is a quick burst

of heavy snow it could drop one to three inches in a short period of time. that will create whiteout conditions. i'll talk about that in the seven day when he come back in just a bit. one concern is about when it gets too cold, the normal salt applications doesn't work very well. penndot is urging motorists to be extra careful out there this weekend. >> it is valentine's day so there will be a lot of traffic on the roads we encourage you to give yourself plenty of time and don't be in a rush and drive at a slower speed. >> many people like to warm their cars before they head out. philadelphia police say be careful. they sent out a warning to be on the look out for cars with keys in the ignition. of course the dangerous cold is coming on the most romantic day of the year, valentine's day. so is if you're heading out later today your hot date take extra steps to stay warm.

park. firefighters responding to their own call, came across a broken 12-inch main. no properties were damaged but the 4400 block of rising sun avenue is blocked for repairs and there's a concern about icing. icing was a concern in south philadelphia after a water main break knocked out service to 80 customers last night. crews went to work on the 2400 block of south lambert street. it broken 6-inch main sent water into some basements. two men took off after a destructive sit and run in south philadelphia. the suv hit a trolley and hit two parked cars. both men intoonded the suv no passengers were on the trolley and no injuries were reported. governor wolf is talking about his decision to place a moratorium on the death penalty.

it's a quiet morning but temperatures have dropped down, single digits and teens. storm tracker 6 live double scan, no issues out there this morning, although if you look toward the left hand part of the screen, you can see snow showers in western berks and lehigh county this morning. those are not the squalls. 9 degrees in allentown. 22 in philadelphia. 21 in wilmington and millville. the squalls are still back here out to the west. again they are just getting organized, getting into better shape here. the area of low pressure the trailing cold front will slide through later this afternoon into the evening hours. that will do a couple of things, one it will unload wicked wind around the delaware valley. we could see gusts as high as 60 miles per hour. it reinforces the cold air. the energy associate ptd -- associated with the low we'll get the squalls. 12 below in international fall

get in here later this afternoon. the snow squalls arrive around 3:00 4:00 p.m. far western suburbs in the city itself by 6:00 p.m. off the coast by 9:00 p.m. that's the arctic front right there. behind it we see a tremendous amount of wind as the gradian right there and the departing low forces the wind tunnel in the delaware valley. that drives the canadian cold in the carolinas. probably the carolinas of all places won't get above freezing. expect a general one to three inches. snowshowers after lunchtime developing throughout the entire region. 4:00 p.m. we see the squalls developing west of the city. 6:00 p.m. moving into center city. 8:00 p.m. moving across south jersey and the jersey shore. the problem is they are quick moving but the problem it's a burst of snow. it's a quick burst of whiteout conditions. that's what you'll see.
