tuesday. i'll talk with that when i see you in ten minutes. >> the whipping winds will be blamed fore knocking down a huge tree on a house. >> it happened in newtown delaware county, while a family of four was inside the home. annie mccormick is outside it is home with all the details. >> reporter: talk about a massive tree, it is estimated this 90 feet tall. it's one of those old oak trees. that's only one part of the house it fell on, it fell all the way down hitting for rooms of the home and fell on top of the minivan. all four people inside are okay. >> i was sleeping in that bed right there. empg came crashing down, somehow it me. >> justin quickly swawkd us through the destruction in his newtown home, just before 2:00 a.m. a 90-foot oak tree

came crashing down. he was in the master belt room, his wife and daughter were in the tv room. >> the couch right there my wife and 2-year-old daughter was sitting right there. it sounded like an avalanche coming down, i heard them screaming and crying, help help. >> reporter: and his son in the separate bedroom where the tree trunk is. after he started crying, five, ten seconds, looked like a tree trunk came crashing down on him. >> reporter: terrifying moments attributed to heavy winds. snow continued to fall. it was a busy night with freezing temperatures and high winds and snow squalls affecting roads and power outages and falling branches. in east falls a tree branch came down through the ceiling.

bridge. the high winds have forced officials at the delaware river port authority to reduce the speed limit to 25 miles per hour. the speed restrictions is in effect for all drpa bridges which means the slower speeds for it is commodor barry bridge, walt whitman bridge, and betsy ross bridge, as well. >> the whipping winds have caused power outages across the delaware and lehigh valleys. peco has 25000 households without power. ppl2600 outages. delmarva has gone from 4,000 to under 600. atlantic city electric under 400. pse&g 70 without power. the high winds were blamed for bringing down utility wires. it happened at bridge and thompson. fire crews were called at 6:30 when the wires went down. there have been no reports of outage also due to these down wires. the high winds caused

problems for septa. regional service between lansdale and doylestown was temporarily suspended due to overhead power problems, the problems have been fixed. service was restored before 10:30. in addition to the dangerous cold and high winds we got more snow overnight. the action cam was in cherry hill as the bobcat cleared a parking lot at kings highway around midnight. how would you like to have this job? we found a man picking up trash as the winds blew the snow just before 1:00 a.m. at the cherry hill mall. he was barely visible to our camera manld in the blinding -- man in the blinding snow. the action cam was along route 90 in pennsauken. traffic was moving okay at midnight. as you can see the road was covered with snow and the wind was blowing the snow around making it hard for drivers to see. new england was hammered with snow so far this winter. old man winter is not letting up.

a blizzard warning in effect for coastal communities from rhode island to maine. the governors of rhode island and massachusetts are urging residents to stay off the roads. >> i certainly share the same frustration that other people feel with respect to on going blizzards of15. >> february is the city's snowiest month since 1872 when record keeping started. snow totals hit 45 inches. firefighters had to battle the bitter cold temperatures as well as a fire in germantown early this morning. it didn't take long for the water to free freeze on the hose on berkeley street. the hose eventsly burst causing water to shoot everywhere.

whitley county. a semi was slowing down and what it rear ended by a car. it led to a chain reaction involving 20 cars. the highway was shut down for four hours while crews cleaned up the wreckage. it reminds you how dangerous the whiteouts are. >> reporter: we got lucky even though we saw the snow roll in here. it rolled in after the difference hour, the squalls came in around 9:00, 10:00 p.m. we caught somewhat of a break yesterday evening. we're not catching a break with the cold. 13 degrees dewpoint, minus 7. winds out of the northwest at 28 miles per hour and gusting to 45 miles per hour. because of that we have a windchill advisory in effect for the entire area until monday morning, windchills will range anywhere from 5 to 15 below today and 15 to 25 degrees below zero overnight tonight. it's worse for the poconos.

minus 16 you have a windchill warning up there for windchills overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, that will range anywhere from 20 to 30 below zero. far western suburbs 20 degrees below zero, as well. you can see the extent of the cold. it extends all the way down here, the deep south the heart of dixie 26 degrees. atlanta, 33. cincinnati, 15. an area of low pressure is sitting here, getting ready to develop across western texas that will undercut the cold air and make a beeline toward the virginia capes. that will draw in moisture and that means we'll be on the look out for snow. this will get better organized and shoot due east off the virginia capes. the forecast motels, tracking snow monday into tuesday, you can see how this develops. this is a good swath of snow, this is almost a foot of snow,
